because republicans block any effort to fund schools federally. right now most of schools funding comes from property taxes, which means rich people get better schools. if you truly want those things for public school kids, the money has to come from somewhere. hopefully you would support taxing the 1% where 90% of the wealth lies, at a rate higher than the one that has that 90% of wealth only supporting 35% of the federal budget.

Unfortunately, those were different times. I'm still trying to comprehend why we have private schools in a country where, every one is supposed to have an equal opportunity to education. We have private schools for kindergarten age children that cost over $50k a year. What could they possibly be teaching them that a public school is not?
