"He's trying to become a pioneer and a trailblazer. It's a threshold so bold and inconceivable. Yet here we stand at the doorstep with the notion that the human spirit can take us across it." - Shalane Flanagan
@@likeaglovelikeaglove8633 No. When you listen to the clip and his speech carefully he said, "Only the disciplined are free...when you are indisciplined you are a slave to your passions" So he meant you are a slave when you are indisciplined.
@@likeaglovelikeaglove8633 Passion is a word thrown around these days. Passion could mean an extreme emotion like Anger,Greed, Haste etc. You are slave if you are indisciplined and go with your passions.
@@LOLasdasdxcasfcsddsf People generally tend to rationalize their shortcomings which means we often make excuses for our behaviour and find reasonable reasons to justify flaws to keep repeating the same patterns even if we deep down know it's holding us back. This is basically a psychological mechanism of "lying to ourselves" because there is safety in mechanical repeating of our behaviour even if it's against us. To be successful we need to see what's holding you back and to see what's holding us back means stopping all excuses and justifications and seeing what's the issue at hand is, clearly. This is in line with his other quote "Only the disciplined ones are free, if you are undisciplined , you are a slave to your moods". Think about the times we set out to achieve a goal but along the way either we quit or we find other things to distract us or postpone it and say "it's ok i will do it tomorrow". This is not only lack of discipline but also a form of lying to ourself. Instead of telling to ourself "i made a commitment to further my goal and i didn't uphold it today" we find a way to avoid that truth by saying "it's ok i will do it tomorrow". The subject of rationalization is fascinating en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rationalization_(psychology) and if we use an example of that page what is recognizable (cause we ve all said something similar) Lets take this example Rationalization can be used to avoid admitting disappointment: "I didn't get the job that I applied for, but I really didn't want it in the first place." This is a way we lie to ourselves to avoid asking the questions that matter and the questions that would lead to further success. -Why was i rejected? -Is there something i should do to improve? -Am i ready? Answering this questions truthfully instead of lying to yourself is simply the only way to succeed but the fact that we many times care to avoid disappointment rather than face the truth leads us to lying to ourselves and in the process locks us in a place where there can be no progress towards success. That's basically how i see what he said here. "Never lie to yourself leads to success because the only thing holding you back is the lies we tell to not address our flaws"
@@LOLasdasdxcasfcsddsf Never lieing to your self means execute your own tasks no matter what you or anyone else at that moment trys to convince. If a human could stop listening but simply execute- there would be no such thing as failure.
seer16 ahhh 5 time olympian Bernard Lagat is not just “one of the Kenyans” yes Five time Olympian. That man is 44 years old and could still own every highschool track star. en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bernard_Lagat
"Only the disciplined are free...when you are undisciplined you are a slave to your moods" I just paused and realized this line is the greatest motivation we can get
the disciplined and loyalty are slaves of their own rule too! If Undisciplined are a slave to many master(different moods), Disciplined are lifelong slave to a single master!
imagine eliud was even looking at his fans and celebrating before crossing that finished line. He looked like he can run another marathon. Eliud is the best ever marathon runner! #nohumanslimited
ZIKLONYfifa 08 I really wanna see him and bekele go at it! but I think eliud will beat bekele since all the training he’s been doing for the INEOS 1:59
@@Yolo-xj2qe He very much could have. 1:58, even; But the goal was to break 2 hours and he put all of his effort and focus into breaking 2 hours and not absolutely killing himself trying to overshoot it. That is why he was paced for it.
@@downbntout If you don't have discipline over whatever you do in your life. Then you are a slave to yourself, it means.. you will try a lot to achieve, but you can't achieve. "A slave tries a lot to get freedom, but that slave will never get a freedom if he is slave to himself"
@@Dave-cq6pu What's overhyped about it? It's a feat thought impossible. Yet he accomplished it. How is that overhyped? The only way this could be considered overhyped would be if many others could do it but only he gets the glory.
Like fear, the past and the future are products of your mind. No amount of guilt can change the past, and no amount of anxiety can change the future. .. Eliud Kipchoge has proofed with hard work , focus mind and discipline human can achieve their goals and dreams !!!
As a fellow athlete, i am so glad that i was alive to see this historic event. For somebody, who can remember the days when i could run a 4 min 33mile, its only then that you appreciate what Kipchoge did. I did it all the way back in 1988, on the athletics track in Newport, South Wales, and blimey it felt fast. Running a 44k Marathon at a similar pace, almost unimaginable.
When your pacers who are “monsters” at running themselves, are everything breathing (nose and mouth) and can keep up for 3 miles. Respect to this legend!
I never even ran a marathon but this video is absolutely incredible and inspires me so much, can’t believe we witnessed this history! Kipchoge, all the pacesetters and all the team are legends!
People tend to think when you commit yourself to do something you may be restraining yourself from a variety of other things in life. HOWEVER, Eliud Kipchoge says "if you are undisciplined, you are a slave. A slave to your moods, to your passions". What a lesson.
Well freaking done Eliud. My god, it just brings you to tears to see someone prove how amazing we humans can be. These commentators also did a fantastic job
All my respect for this guy. A historic finish with a smile on his face. Hell yeah he proved them wrong. Limits are only in you head. Madrid - Spain. October 27 2019.
@Toni Maretic he did not follow the rules so it doesn't count as a record; it's not fair for the person who will one day break the record to have the glory taken away from him.
Kuiqy you can’t have pacemakers and a pace car as well as he also just got lucky with the weather. Some people were also questioning the shoes but that seems dumb they’re just shoes
I’m not understanding the thumbs down on, history on brilliance, on achievement. It’s disappointing. if there is dislikes for this nothing will ever be pure.
I don't think they understand the historic feat achieved here and there will always be ppl who hate even if there is nothing rlly to hate on it's j what humans r become
you don't have to seek their "likes" or acceptance....some people don't like others ...just like you dont like someone despite their achievement in life. You can acknowledge it but there is no rule that says you have to like them. And some people are plain simpletons that they can't stand they are lower energy operating tapeworms in shit. What can you do,? nothing.
Next needs to be a film "Trail Blazer". Congratulations for rewriting the sports history books world wide for years to come. Blessings and Love in Christ AP Mike Lee. (UK - London)
