I ran emerald sapphire aggro/ward deck at a set champs. No Bucky in it. Was in 2nd after three rounds but rds 4/5 I got horrendous draws and bubbled down to 9th. The ink pairing had so many people very confused lol. Nothing better than when your opponent picks up your card to read what it does😅

This deck failed me pretty hard at a set champs, but it was fun to get the side eye of, "You're running what color combo?" I was able to take a game off the second place player, but it can't stand up against Ruby/Amethyst.

Awe, sorry to hear that. RA was the deck I tested vs most prominently and felt the matchup was definitely favored.

Could you go over that lemon lime aggro deck your son was playing next?

Well now I’m upset Bucky was nerfed! 💚💙

Lol, this is a perfect example of EXACTLY why Bucky needed to be dealt with. He said that he forced his opponent to dump 3 of 4 cards in a single turn. I sure do enjoy watching other people play Solitaire when I play card games. 😂

@@parttimecomix I was warning people that this game having a discard archetype was a BAD idea, but no one listened. 😢 The thing is, that I started playing Magic back in 1997. Discard was an absolute menace in the Extended format at the time. I can't speak to what "pros" were using, but the deck that I developed was damn near unstoppable. It's not really a card game if your opponent doesn't have cards to play, and the few cards that they top deck just get countered. Yes, I did this. Guilty as charged. 🤣 So that was kind of the issue with Bucky. You just dismantle your opponent's hand so quickly that if they don't top deck the exact card needed to combat the strategy, then it's game over. Steel being able to remove most threats that might get played, if the opponent were lucky enough to top deck it, was what made it so bad. And then you mention future Floodborns; I can't even. I just can't. 🤦🏻‍♂️🤣

@@Xoulrath_ I played 8 rack I feel you 🖤 I actually think discard is fine and polices the greedy decks, Bucky is not as big a mistake as people are making it out to be. Plenty of decks are still winning. I think the key mistake was in his cost to play and that we was released so early in this game. If he was released in a year, I’d bet the card pool could adjust, but we don’t have enough tech yet. 🩶💚

@@parttimecomix Bucky isn't a big mistake YET. That's the issue. It's very easy to point out that E/St is mid at best if it doesn't hit that discard stride early on. However, on the flip side, when you get the T2 god play and drop Bucky, shift Diablo, force a discard, then draw a card on your opponent's turn, to immediately replace the action that you dumped to shift Diablo, you're still ahead by one card. It is ALMOST impossible to recover from that. If you don't have immediate removal for the Diablo, then you're probably sunk. I'm actually someone who usually argues against card advantage as being this huge thing, because if you have garbage cards in hand, it doesn't really help you win the game. The Bucky problem is such that you could play these Floodborn characters that are good in their own right, develop uour board, and deny your opponent cards. All for playing characters to the board, which is something that you're supposed to be doing anyway. There was no risk/reward factor involved. It was simply draw a new hand of 7 cards if Bucky wasn't there. Or perhaps you've got the Diablos, but no squirrel, so you dump 5 cards looking for the combo hand. Regardless, it did too much, for too little, while pushing you in a play pattern of scoring lore to win the game, and denying your opponent cards to even try to play the game with you. As far as the discard archetype goes, I've got to vehemently disagree with you. Cards like Ursula and Bare Necessities can (and do) exist, without being part of an overall discard deck. Targeted discard is GREAT for the game to keep problematic combo decks in check. I can agree on that. But discard decks, that force your opponent to dump their hand to to board or not have a hand, goes against the entire point of playing a card game that is SUPPOSED to be about strategy and tactics. It removes the ability of one player to actually play the game.
