I have all the tools to make this but never thought of putting two filters in to double the flow! Thanks Ana! One thing to track is how much water you put through each time. Filters have a life of how much you can process before they are ineffective. In shtf I'd still boil my water if possible just as a precaution. And if you can't afford the filters, you can make your own in a similar bucket set up with a layer of activated charcoal, a layer of sand and a layer of rock. You'd need cheesecloth over the holes in the top bucket where the activated charcoal is. In this case I would make sure to use cheesecloth to separate all the layers so you can take it apart as charcoal can be reactivated in the oven so you want to be able to separate them easily. There is plenty of information on the internet to instruct you how to make your own. Great video!

Looks good,. For those who don't want to go the home made route the British Berkefeld is a great one, you can get a slightly dented one cheaper. Mine had such a small dent Iif it hadn't been shiney I wouldn't have found it. the Berkey is being prosecuted at the moment in USA due to not testing correctly. The filters for the Berkfeld can be cleaned and reused especially if you use with tap water.

I got the plastic royal berkfield one with ultra strerasyl filters for about £85, seems plenty good enough

You can flush the carbon filters when you clean them to extend their life. Put a hose from your tap to the pipe at the bottom of the filter and turn on the tap. It flushes through the "pores" or the filter

Exactly the same filters I upgraded from in my bucket filter, I had been using doulton ultra carbon ceramic filter candles but they took way too long and don't filter quite so much 🤔 you might want to have a look at "waterdrop" countertop water filters too, I bought an ex demo model with new carbon filters for £125 save £25 from regular for a 8L filter

Can you let us know how long it takes to filter a full top bucket with two filters in it? I ask because having two or three of these setups would mean you're not waiting for the water to filter if you have no tap water and are relying on rain water. This is a great setup!!

Hello, thank you for this video. I’ve invested in to the original berkey filters to do this bucket set up. We wont use the bottom tap because in emergency if it goes broken or start Ieak we might not be able to find new bucket. I wanted to save up to buy spare filters to have as back up, but now Its financialy unthinkable for us. I did not know about this cheaper version of the filters, so I will try to find them in my country.
