Sometimes Filipinos just need to see a humble foreigner sincerely enjoying the simplicities of Filipino culture in order to be inspired and appreciate our country more ourselves.
@benedictfrancisco3978 there are multiple foreigners like Kurt and myself who for decades have adopted the filipino culture and its complexities for happiness.
@@StrikeFirst01 i think it has something to do with our history, being under Spanish, US, and Japanese colonialism for around 300 + years. Even western trends do trend here and we hold with high regards anything that came from the west. So by nature, the majority of Filipinos have that tendency to look up or even be intimidated by foreigners especially Europeans or Americans. The effect however is reversed when it is the foreigners who are reaching out. So mostly, it is met with warm welcome and admiration.
Hugs!!! Thank you for spreading God's love in Abra, and now all over the Philippines. Those Nanays fed you not just food, but so much love from their hearts. It's always there. God bless you even more. Also, it's the garlic flavor profile - northerners love garlic!
Hello Kurt, I am also a transplant from the US. When we eat certain food/dishes, we connect to moments of our past that reminds us of fond memories with people we respected and miss dearly. Enjoy your food travels in the Philippines❤🇵🇭🙏 God Bless.
Kurt you're awesome I had no idea you served and as a marine during the early 2000s. That video takes me back, literally what the 2000s felt like with technology.
3 things Kuya Kurt 1. You're right about the sabaw. The cooling effect that you mentioned. I do remember back in high-school my science teacher said something about body temperature and weather and the best way to regulate it is by matching it. So hot weather, hot food, cold weather cold food. 2. Cucumber in tagalog is PIPINO. And i hope you're not capping about the food bringing you back into memory lane cause it's freaking awesome. 3. About your channel name, you're already know as Tagalog Kurt, probably just add the word eats 😂 so it's TAGALOG KURT EATS.. Still you plus the food vlog added 😊.
Kuya Kurt, good morning and again nice watching to see you ordering more foods to patronize the Filipinos and the Philippines. Mabuhay sayo Kuya Kurt. Your Kapatid Vicky from Rocklin, California. ❤❤❤ 🙏🙏🙏✝️✝️✝️
You’re absolutely right immersing yourself in the food & language go hand in hand in understanding the culture, and you are so respectful and considerate when sharing the Filipino culture with your subscribers❤️👏🏼👏🏼
You are so fluent in speaking tagalog,! Ang galing mo, congrats!! Thank you for loving our food! How about singing? Have you heard good Filipinos singing!?
thank you for eating and vlogging about our local faire. you ought to venture into the salcedo village and legaspi village area to try every JOLiJEEP along Valero or Salcedo Street. Then if you are not taking any hypertension maintenance meds, venture to Kapitolyo and challenge your health to some Cardiac Delight cuisine
Wow that's awesome, two delicious dishes for $5! Here in the US, everything's so expensive already. Even the cheap Maruchan Noodles (used to be $1.98 for a box/12 packs) are now $3.98! Even Walmart's "Sam's Cola" which used to be $0.48 is now $1.68. The cheapest Walmart food have spiked up in price so you can only imagine how much more expensive the prices are on non-budget oriented shops. Even the dollar stores don't sell $1 items anymore lol! I wish I could travel as well and go to the Philippines and eat delicious food for cheap prices. I'm also impressed with how fluent you sound in their language. Learning a new language as an adult is hard!
i feel you kuya Kurt just like when you hear old classic song. it brings back the memories and the feeling is so emotional. btw the foods look so delicious 👍👍👍
Its good you have many talents Kurt! I like all of the Filipino foods you mentioned. I want to know more of your Vlogs. If only you can bring me in your tour, why not! You know I am a fan of a very good Vlogger who gave big tips ti the Filipinos who work on resto or carinderia.Tgat was a very good Vlogger specially Davud Aghunsada and the name Mac World? But they went to another country.Hope you stay longer in Pinas.Ang galing mo mag-Tagalog? How did you learn Tagalog? Did you have a course in Tagalog?Have a wonderful journey!

When we eat, our senses of taste, smell, and sight are engaged, and this can trigger emotional responses in our brains. Memorable food experiences evoke emotion because food has a powerful connection to our senses, memories, and cultural identities. The Sinangag and Beef Tapa definitely triggered a sense of comfort, safety and security now that you are away from your comfort zone. The Nanay who cooked Beef Tapa for you back in your Missionary days must have given you a long-lasting impression of that motherly-love that wiped away your feelings of uncertainty while you were away from home. We hope someday we would cross path, shake your hand and personally give our thanks to you, Kurt for loving the Philippines and our culture so much. ❤❤
I've just watched the video of you cooking Adobo. I enjoyed it and I was pretty impressed with how good you are at speaking Tagalog. You got a new subscriber!
15:03 man i just know what that core memory feels like when it hits. when me and my brother were young, we’re always excited for summer, because that just means school year is over and we have to spend 2 months of vacation in our lola and lolo’s house in province. i can still remember the smell of fried daing, pusit and garlic fried rice every morning, plus we have to wait for taho or pandesal vendor too, hearing my lolo sweeping the fallen dried leaves of mango tree with his walis tingting, and he always pile the leaves and then burn it. man those were the days. good old times. and also I remember every night we have to set up our kulambo (mosquito net) and then the smell of the katol (mosquito killer). aahhh so many good memories with my grandparents. miss them a lil bit today when you mentioned that core memory you had ☹️🥺❤ wish i could back to just to feel, hear, and smell one of those mornings i had every summer vacation. hays..
Hala, bakit umiyak din ako ng konti? 🥹 i can relate to this 15:37 Food indeed gives us core memories. Thanks for showing your vulnerability, Kuya Kurt. Sana madami ka pa ma-discover na Pilipino food.
