Tip for anyone on consoles. If you click in the left stick it brings up a white cursor that you can use to pause time, swap characters, and also open the shortcuts on the screen.

Just got the game and dove in blind just relying on the in-game tutorial. I have to say, this video clarifies a lot of stuff. I often find when it comes to Paradox games that having the game explained to you makes it a lot easier to get the hang of than trying to rely on the tutorial.

Just started playing for the 5th time again , now i know enough to do what i want in the game , just travel with your death squad arround and clean all the buildings, most of your early money comes from that, selling items is $$$, also some bosses are op

My suggestion of strategy for "normal" and above difficulties how to effectively fight suspicious at all times is to have double the amount of rackets you are satisfied with at every particular period and then just use half of them -- that way you can ALWAYS rotate your openness and have a steady income at all times. For example: if you are OK with having 4 establishments at this point of the game, have 9 or 10 of them instead but have only 4 open for the sake of profit + 1 that will cover all the upkeep for both running and closed ones (math is simple and upkeep is usually not even that high). Then when those ones come into "red zone of suspicious" just close them and open the other set of 4+1 that are the very same type [and size]. On a plus side, I don't think AI ever attacks your closed rackets [needs more testing]. :D Other thing you can do is drop rival's neighborhoods prosperity levels down on purpose by killing thugs and raiding thug related buildings over and over and over again. Also a valid strategy is to "transfer" or "move" to neighborhood that has no other rival gang (as in Leader's major gang) ASAP from the start and start exploiting prosperity bonuses in peace. The trick here is to fight the least you can, avoid clearing out thug-related buildings and exclusively buy properties. Caches are OK if you space them between in meaning of couple of weeks. On the other hand, you go to your rival's parts of town and then keep making mess by raiding and looting everything you can (don't bother keeping estates there because they will become pretty useless). :) And finally -- definitely don't sell all weapons and stuff to Black Market. Use it to *only* sell weapons and items you don't want other AI players to have/take from you and sell crappier items directly to them since you can sometimes get even more than the value of items are and by selling to BM you get only something like 15-20% of the value. I still haven't seen a downside (penalties?) for selling low level alcohol masked as whiskey to other leader's which can get you a lot of money in the beginning. :)

I love this game. There is a lot of nuance to grasp and every boss has their own personal quest - their own back story. Also, it is a live game. There was a patch yesterday that fixed some bugs but also removed an exploit I was using. They're making an honest gangster out of me. I see myself putting a lot of hours into this. Edit: by "live game", I mean they are still working on making it better.

Great video! Very informative.… Is it recommended to leave some of my crew members at owned rackets? Or always navigate in a group? And if so, should the crewmember(s) be left outside or inside the building? Just questioning because sometimes I would get attacked and wish to of have more support within battle. I wish this game was actually as complex as a paradox game. The neighborhoods don’t have enough customers to fill every possible racket so you get punished for expanding. There aren’t legal businesses or money laundering to worry about. Finally customers aren’t divided by what racket they want which isn’t realistic. Someone could be a client at your brothel and casino

what platform is that? im on pc and my game looks nothing like yours. from the graphics to the info the game is showing? do you have mods installed?

If someone wants to know how to easily "save" a gangster that is taken by other gang (if you have some favorite characters you always choose) here ya go: 2 simple steps -- kill that boss who "owns" the particular person and then just leave battle map (escape without harming the 'special' gangster). After that he/she will be back in recruitment pool and if you have enough notoriety you can hire them right away. The only thing you are losing this way is loot from that boss fight. :)

Very informative, just one question...how do you pause the game on PS4 so you can view the map? Every time I hit the options button the game "pauses" with a menu screen. I cant navigate the map without the game in motion...very frustrating...

can i have guards(essentially "mob" troops) with me? or guards are only for guarding my rackets and i need exclusively "heroes" for my party? coz heroes are expensive af and i would like to avoid them until i have steady enough income

I've marked a building in a joint war and lost track of where it was. Can someone help with how to find that building without having to check building by building?

Here's a tip: Don't immediately go upgrade your alcohol quality to match what people want. I tried that, and lost most of my money, and while I was making good stuff, I was not producing or selling enough to make up for the lost funds. It's not worth the income bonus for matching the people's preference. You won't make it back fast enough. Wait until you have a better income from more rackets and deeper pockets before you start to work on increasing racket quality. Beggars can't be choosers. Also, do the tutorial to get 2 free thugs.

When you hit 1000 notoriety can you not bribe cops anymore? It doesn’t matter how much I try to give them it always says bribe failed or something

Is there a way to remove the wants to kill trait. I got 2 guys on my crew that want to kill 2 other guys on my crew and it’s hella annoying. Also I can’t fire anybody because they all have love relationships so idk what happens when you fire someone’s lover.

every time I make a New Game after a couple of days I always ended up being a war with someone, cuz some gang will take my racket so I'll reclaim it but I'll get negative relationship in return then when I win the war someone will be upset again fk. I also experience fighting a war with additional 3 gangs as the enemy backer vs my only group so after fighting there's a fight again

More Tips: Played the game 100+ hrs •Always Save before Combat/Decision Making on Quest - you dont want your Party to be injured & rest &&& If you wanna Improve relationship w/ cops you could avoid battle w/ them by pressing O when they're out of range... •Get OP fast - game balance is so bad.. machine gun [on your boss or hired w/ decent Markmanship stats /Sniper&rifle[Critical ]/ just 1 shots anyone in sight & especially w/ Chain Bullet Kill (forgot the name of the skill/talent = FLUSH !! ) it just kills everyone on sight on a single turn.. • Dont ever do any Diplomacy stuffs - Just be a Gangsta what im reffering is dont Do any Alliance, Trades etc. w/ any Factions (except trading your excess booze you no longer need or buying/selling equipments
