Here are the meditation instructions for practicing Goodwill (Metta) that I gave at Empty Cloud Monastery on Sunday April 30th. Later I will post the Dhamma Talk, titled: Why I Hate Metta Meditation.
I remember you discussed loving kindness meditation and those phrases in a former video. I've been using them ever since and am grateful for that instruction.
Thank you Ajahn. I especially appreciate the instruction to bring the positive feelings into the body. Also how the cat was a demonstration of the words: goodwill, ease of well-being, curiosity...
Recalcitrance. And that calm center in the storm, that always seems to somehow prefer the storm to actually express itself. I hate stress, hate getting stressed out and tend to go full catastrophic in the midst of it, but it is where I end up eventually having to reduce things to their fundamental aspects in order to understand and bring some semblance of order. And after I'm almost in disbelief of the understanding it gives.
Happy Vesak, Dear Ajahn. While a most beautiful full moon is rising, I wish you well. May your highest aspirations be fulfilled. With boundless metta. 🙏
How about, “I need to learn to meditate because I have such a Monkey Mind!” ? Ajahn Sona has some excellent videos about meditation, that is where I’d suggest starting. Have patience but determination too.
