I’m desperate for help! I have an above ground pool. I’m new to this and have had a really rough 2 months personally. My filter has been running for 12-15 hrs a day. I have NOT cleaned it or treated it 🤦♀️ I’m overwhelmed every time I start researching what to do. Do I start with backwashing, bleach, and then Phosphate remover? Then what?
I would suggest beginning with backwashing the filter and immediately after you should test the chlorine levels of the pool and get them up ASAP. You may have to backwash the pool daily if not every 5 or 6 hours while the greens clearing up. Typically in Arizona, we don’t officially “close our pools down“. Unless you’re in an area like Flagstaff where you have pretty rough winters. So typically your Pools stay open year-round. But you don’t have to run your filter pump as long. In the summer months during some season, you typically run your pump about seven or eight hours per day, and then in the off-season, maybe five or six hours. And typically they run at night to save energy. Plus, it keeps water flowing through the pipes, if the weather does get really cold, so the pipes don’t freeze and crack. But if you’re in an area that gets freezing winter months, then closing your pool down, probably by November is a good thing to do. Unfortunately I don’t have videos on that because I don’t have any experience doing it.
