As an old-school gearhead, I was born with a stick in my hand. Nothing makes me happier than stirring my own gears, and dancing the disconnect disco with my left foot! I have always preferred the amount of control you have over the vehicle, with a manual clutch and transmission. Sure- you can bump-start a machine, equipped with one, and induce drifts and such. I also REALLY like having full control of the engagement RPM- which may not always be the same RPM, based on driving conditions. Now, in an application like a go kart, I am absolutely SALIVATING at all of the above, PLUS the ability to make full use of engine braking! I have been dying for something like this to come along! Do I want it? Hell yes, I do! Thanks for bringing this to my attention, maybe with a bit of luck, one of these can make it onto one of my projects!

Big drawback: Clutch has to be disengaged in order to start the engine, not necessary with a centrifugal clutch. I don't see you showing that!

should have been #41 or #40 chain. Your going to be throwing a lot of chains

i bought a 3d cluch a few months ago. i didnt tighten the sprocket enough and it destroyed the clutch. just some advice for whoever buys one. i think all clutches with 16 teeth or over come without the sprocket installed because they get those sprokets from a seperate company.

Awesome set-up man! This would be super killer if you used a Peerless shiftbox on there. You'd have all your gears, no messing with the sprockets and good acceleration. Cool video.

I mean... if they come out with a 40/41/420 chain option that can handle up to 40 horse, I'm on board.

Kinda useless unless you have a transmission... unless it's a drift kart I kinda want to see the street kart as a drift kart Just pvc the rear tires

The only thing that would make this expensive clutch better is a replaceable drive sprocket.

I most definitely need one of these clutches with a 15 T clutch sprocket and when I’m done building my Predator Hemi 212cc I’ll put it on my Mega moto 212cc max and do a stage 1 mod on my Coleman ct200U! Keep the mini bike videos coming!

When you turn the radio in wheel is diferent the out wheel damage the tires . the solutions is make angle in the akerman arm and the pivot the stering . See the video de (the old tony)make gokart chassis.

better than CarsandCameras channel more knowledge and informative of what hes doing... not saying it'll be fine and hope for the best... not saying i don't watch both but prefer one over the other...

thats a single disk clutch, not dual. those are the plates that clamp down on the clutch disk

Try a Lifan 125cc 4-speed from amazon one of these days... gives you gears and a wet clutch available in manual. Great dirt cheap engines.

I finally got one of these a few months ago and just got to use it for the first time the other day. ITS FRIGGIN AWESOME!!! I put it on a motorbicycle with a Tillotson 212 and it's like a motorcycle now. Will be even more like one when I add the 5 speed transmission.

I think it's illegal in my state to drive a go kart on the streets you might want to check the laws where you live .

250 my ass I bough a lifan 200cc new for 230 from a warehouse near me and it has way more power than a built 212 and has 5 gears and 6 plate clutch

Honestly should of just put a 200cc 5 speed manual transmission motor on this go cart!. That would of been really badass in that frame.

Were can I get a front suspension fork set up for my Mega moto 212. You mentioned it before Go PowerSports but they only have the mb-80 mb-105 they don’t carry the adult size mm- 212 assembly I also want to put a swing arm and rear shocks on but I hear they went out of business. I’m currently running a Max Torque clutch on mine no jack shaft a 16T front sprocket and a 52T rear sprocket directly and currently can hit to upper 67 mph.

Would that work as an aftermarket clutch on an older stand-alone motorcycle engine? (Currently no clutch or transmission) Also, for the same engine, I need a transmission, because I do want gears. Can you suggest a (small) multispeed aftermarket transmission for a 220cc engine? Otherwise a matching stock clutch and transmission will cost me $2k or more. Im working on a custom bike build with a '49 Indian 220cc engine. Stock clutch and trans will be $2k or more.

Just bought a 40 series TAV from GoPowerSports for my 11HP Honda on a Manco frame, so I dont have the funds to get one of these myself. I would love to have that manual chutch so I can put the old 6HP Subaru from the same go cart on this mini bike frame I have laying around. Seems kind of silly to have a manual clutch and only one speed forward. Kind of cost prohibitive also unless your building a junior class pulling tractor or something similar, where you would need positive power transfer (i.e. no CVT belt clutch). I would like to see 3D Motorsport or Go Power Sports build a 4 or 5 speed dog-type trans with a built in wet clutch that would slip right onto a standard 3/4 or larger output shaft, or a primary belt drive like Harley with sealed bearings and it's own gear lube. The toothed belt drive would probably be superior, as you wouldn't be limited to just have the transmission hanging off the side of the engine.😉 Considering the average shifter kart, competition 125cc engine can go upwards of $6000, they could charge $4-600 for a trans/clutch package, that would work with anything up to the 670 V-twins and still come out ahead price wise.😁

Nice info!!! ALMOST talked me into getting one... almost... lol (I'm a TC/CVT whore). Question bout your kart... hows the steering? The camera tends to show a false image... but i swear it looks like your outer wheel turns at more of an angle than the inner ('should' be reversed). An Ackermann plate would solve 'that' issue. It would correct the geometry to moreso an auto's steering (vs a 'toy') and give you 300X's better response, and a tighter turning radius... just abit of info for you ;-)

I know this a old video but was wondering if someone could answer a question I had. So if I put this on a mini bike you have to have the lever pulled while starting it correct? Just like starting a dirt bike while in gear?

Idk that I would recommend dumping the clutch on it these style disc clutches have beem primarily used in oval kart racing.. the fact it has only two disc to engage it means with the extra weight of the yard kart and the driver in the kart it will slip the clutch and either glazes the the discs and they won't grab or it will warp the floaters in between the discs.. if it were a 3 or 4 disc this would be a lot less of an issue .. atleast it's twelve tab.. but also if u hammer the clutch your going to dig the tabs on the discs I'm the basket and ruin it quicker..

What’s the purpose of a clutch without a transmission? Someone educate me.
