there is a problem I still have no answer to, long bones have both endochondral and intramembranous ossification, but you mention just one?
@_GandalfTheGrey_

Doesn’t this also not occur in ribs, sternum, patella and some wrist bones?
@magyashour2471

Does what occurs in the primary ossification centre occur exactly in epiphysis??I mean is there degradation of Hyaline by OC then spongy bone by OB then degradation by OC in epiphysis?? If so ,Will that lead to formation of a cavity in epiphysis ?? Hope you answer soon..

Does the bone collar continue to exist into adulthood? Is that what forms the compact bone?
@kevinsinger2
@kevinsinger2 5 лет назад
Yes, the bone collar becomes compact bone

Why the spongy bone is even formed in the first place if it is supposed to be degraded by the osteoclast?
@CatalystUniversity
@CatalystUniversity 4 года назад
Great question. Spongy bone is very useful in mature bones. [1] reduce weight of bone since there are gaps. Imagine having to carry around twice your current weight. [2] Larger surface area - makes calcium ion exchange more efficient [3] Space for blood vessels and nerves [4] bone marrow (site for hematopoiesis) Hope this helps.

So as far as fetal skull, how can you determine if its fetal or infant? Fetal = hyaline cartilage infant=bone?
