Holy hell. I’m watching old Thew videos and find your 6 year old comment. Your videos are amazing. I’ve been watching them for quite some time and it’s awesome to see someone who’s content I enjoy commenting on the video of another person who’s content I enjoy.
And besides, they already came out with a new deluxe Armada Starscream and a leader class Armada Megatron is looming over the horizon, so why don't they remake all the Armada Decepticons? I really want a new Armada Demolisher as my old lost an arm and Blackout.
Better hope the modern reimagined figures have Mini-Cons, because Generations Armada Starscream and the new Megatron do not/are not going to have them. As for me, I'm waiting on a newer version of Scorponok that's not a Botcon exclusive, along with newer versions of Optimus Primal and BW Megatron.
I have a strange and interesting request. I'm an English teacher and I would love to use one of your videos for my creative writing class. I would like my students to be able to play around with words the way you do and have fun with it. May I use one of your vid in my classroom. You're totally awesome (tawtsome?)
Thank you!!! Just think, some time this week your videos will be used to teach American high schoolers how to put strange and new adjectives and verbs together.
Thew Adams I wanted to give you an update. You were a HUGE hit with my students. I showed them about 2 minutes of this video and then had them pick out the various literary devices you use to describe Transformers. They picked out several, after a few viewings because they had a hard time understanding your accent. LOL. They then had to write a small review on an item of their choosing in their own words. Then they had to write the review like you would, i.e. tons of alliteration and combing descriptive terms. They had a blast!!! Thank you!!
Fantastic!! I'm really glad they got a kick out of it and I'm delighted to have had my vids used in an educational capacity :D Thanks so much for this!!
+Lois Peraino Purely out of curiosity and admiration for the idea, would you be at all willing to say which 2 minutes did you use? Or if it was a re-edit, would you be willing to upload it, if you still have it? I realise the comment is a year old, but I only just seen it after revisiting this review.
Something really cool about Tidal Wave is that he's probably the only combiner robot that can be transformed into giant vehicle mode without separating the pieces.
That game single-handedly got me interested in Transformers again and that Tidal Wave reveal was one of the coolest moments (along with Starscream showing up in the middle of an explosion). As such, I've been almost buying one for... maybe a decade or so now? I had always assumed that the figure was a lot bigger than he is from looking at it and was a little surprised to learn he only stands around a foot tall.
Did you know that Armada Tidal Wave was to be more accurate than Micron Legend Shockwave? They changed the colors because there were too many purple Cons! I think this Tidal Wave is just ahead of the light-piped Lucky Draw figures with his EVERYTHING PIPING. Luck-piped? Also, these ratcheted solos rock! Another review that makes me want Tidal Wave! Thanks, Thew!
ever since i was a kid, tidal wave just saying his own name while floating thru space in the first episode of energon has always intrigued me. and now that i’m full blown collecting transformers, it’s nice to see this guy’s actually pretty dope. now if only i could find one for less than a hundred bucks. i’m not exactly made of money.
2:28 Oh nice Optimus Primal returns. I get a kick of using toys from diffrent times togheter like that. Wow Tidal Wave is awesome with all this functions. The idea of him combining and being able to split like this makes him a great collection toy.
This might be the funniest review of yours that I've seen, and they're always funny! Panthro is Hard!" "You can totally Human Centipede the Dark Fleet Together...." I love it!
I got on the Tidal Wave train back when the Armada figure came out. Love that toy, though I may have to hunt down the everythingpiping Energon version.
Only just watched this because I watched Chris McFeely's video on the character of Tidal Wave and this came up! I have been a fan of Thew for many a year and this is old school as old school can get.... :D
First off, always great to see a new Thew vid (Thew newvid?) Second, one thing that's really cool about Tidal Wave is that although he has to parts-form to split into his three modes, he can actually go straight from robot mode to mega-battleship mode without partsforming at all, which is rad. And third, this guy works best as a companion to the Armada sea minicon team. They give him tons of extra guns, and they fit his sea-theme well.
Tidal wave was a favorite of mine in Armada and the armada ps2 game! He was HUGE and his design was absolutely amazing! The level was built around him and you had to board him then fight the big dude like a dark souls boss! He was so cool and INTIMIDATING! I'd love to see him make a come back with modern figures! Great stuff!
looking at the review of tital wave and I am still convinced he would be a great choice for the next commander class figure have all the same features and throw in a base mode too and he would be one hell of a figure to interact with all the micro masters and titan masters knocking about these days
I wasn't collecting Transformers during the Armada era, although I quite enjoyed the anime and PS2 game, but looking back at Armada era toys really makes me miss Transformers gimmicks. The toys were robust and everything combined with something else or shot stuff or did SOMETHING. I didn't start collecting mainline again until War for Cybertron (and have since stopped again), and I loved those toylines, particularly Kingdom, but man there is something to be said for the Unicron trilogy toys.
Man, I'm glad I'm not the only one who has dreams about Transformers. Although mine usually involve finding like some sort of indoor bazaar where some old lady has a bunch of G1 dudes in inexplicably pristine condition for a heart attack inducing price. Always wake up before I actually transact a sale.
I literally just picked this guy up at a Salvation Army a couple weeks ago! He was missing his wings and missiles, but he still had his minicon tucked away in the loading bay! Only cost me $4 :D
This is what Crossovers Hulk should have been. With a lick of metallic sand-blue paint he could look like the S.H.I.E.L.D. Helicarrier in combined vehicle mode. He already has the Hulk's green face and arms, so this would work pretty well if you ask me...
I just got a hookup on the Armada version of this guy and words can not express how stoked I am for him to get here! Props for the video so I even knew this guy existed!
And I return with a thing I learned. Turns out you can take him from the giant spaceship mode into robot mode without taking them apart, which is somehow even cooler in my eyes.
I think I managed to beat the game? Not 100% sure. Tidal Wave was a pain since I guess I was probably fighting him wrong, just strafing from a distance while traveling along the beach or whatever.
Seeing as next year we're getting Leader Class G1 and Armada Megatrons, I wonder if we might get a Leader Broadside with Tidal Wave as a less combinery but more dynamic mold mate. Even without that news, I could see the resemblance others have mentioned, and this big lug has a bit in common with Overlord too.
(01:16) Thew: Jazzed up with see-through Slimer shoulder and POSEABLE PECS! **beep** ... See-through Slimer shoulder and ARTICULATED AREOLAS! **beep** ... See-through Slimer shoulder and TWITCHING TITS **beep** ... You reviews are always entertaining! LoL
Honestly, the most frustrating thing about Tidal Wave's level in that game for me was actually ~getting there~. There was no real tutorial on how to use the one minicon that was a glider, so there was a LOT of fails in that trip. After that, having seen the show, I knew what was coming- but it was still . . . Allsome.
Love your 19 year old phase at the start Thew, "Everything that isn't exactly as I remember it. IS. BOLLLLOOOXXX!!!!!" XD I had to stop n have a good laugh XD Your vids are a great, am marathoning the lot, thx for all the entertainment! :)
masterpiece tidal wave now!, i know most of you would want it:), today a find it funny and sad that tidal wave was sold as a voyager type toy (i dont remember the name the class had back then) but even today he is taller than most leader class toys, the only leaderish transformer i have that is taller is the armada prime in super mode
Well, the alt. Mode count is 6-ish in my opinion; the 3 separate alt. Modes, the 1 mega combined alt. Mode, and 2 variations of the mega combined alt. Mode but 1 missing hovercraft and 1 missing aircraft carrior.
that is a nice looking transformer...i like the purple version a bit more though but the enormous amount of transparent pieces is pretty cool. just too bad the three separate vehicles don't turn into their own robots also.
Just occurred to me you can use Energon Tidal Wave and the little tiny movie Optimus Prime that came with Stratosphere to recreate game accurate scaling.
Tidal Wave has got to be one of my favorite figures. As well as the transformers game being one of my favorite Ps2 games. I'm not the biggest fan of the armada paint theme (and those lucky bastards on the other side of the planet got to have the purple one) but the energon green and white was definitely an improvement.
