Engine Coolant Temperature Sensor Change VW / Audi / SEAT / Skoda 

This is probably the only video on RU-vid that tells you how to put the C-clip back in place properly. I replaced my cooling sensor on my vw passat without knowing how to place a clip and next thing I knew was antifreeze spilling out all over the place and engine overheating. Thank you so much for the video !

Thanks this video helped me change the coolant temperature sensor on my Ibiza FR 1.8T the only thing I removed (if I’m correct was the big breather hose from the air filter box) for more space and I only had the 2 pin connector

Useful info here. Your engine seems to be clean as a whistle, but on those that don't I would suggest to spray brake cleaner on the surrounding sensor area to get rid of debris, dust or grime that could get into the coolant system. On B5.5 Passats and B6 Audis the sensor is close to the firewall, much tighter areas, but it is possible to do it without hose removal. Great video.

Whay you mean is, "the black top was problematic and resulted in those cars overheating but VW decided to let customers replace them when themselves". I had a golf with this engine. It overheated a lot (overheating seems to be a VW problem). Replaced that thing and that car never had problems

Tip - dip your o-ring into some anti freeze before putting it on, life of ring lasts longer

I have a 1.6 petrol Mk4 Golf and have no temperature needle movement even when the engine is up to temp,management light on and sometimes rough running and idle,think it's definitely the temp sensor.👍🏻👍🏻

Nice video. Very informative. Thinking of replacing mine, only because my warning light is constantly flashing from when I start the engine to when I stop. The engine is not overheating though and the coolant has no leaks. Could a faulty sensor be the cause?

Thanks for this video. I have 1.6l engine but i think i can find that sensor and replace it. Meaby that sensor is not workking correctly becaus my engine temperature goes to 90'c rly fast. I dont believe that becaus its only +10 outside.

Hi, my coolant temp sensor has been having issues where it will start leaking at least once a year! The shops just do the same thing (replace coolant temp sensor, o-ring and clip). That works for about 9-12 months. The plastic coolant flange still should be fine since I had it replaced a few years ago. I was going to try to replace the clip with a metal one and also do a new o-ring. Can you let me know how easy it is to get the plug off? It looks like you pushed up with a flathead to get the plug off the sensor. Is that accurate? I know it's held on by the plastic protruding from the side of the sensor you have in your video. Thanks for any info!

can someone help??? i changed this sensor 2 times.. i tried the green and the grey one but no luck... i always get fault code 16500 - Engine Coolant Temp. Sensor (G62): Implausible Signal,,, only in winter cold weather..my cooling fan starts to spin when i turn the key to ignition at cold morning first starts... In summer there are no problems, fan is not coming on and everything just works fine...

Hello my car overheats and then doesn't wanna change gears when it overheats could that be the engine coolant sensor?

My 2014 Audi A4 “overheats” after 15mins of running vehicle, temp gauge starts to almost go to “H” fluctuates between 3/4 - H , and A/C starts blowing warm air... fans stay on after I shut off car but no smoke or anything . I think it might be a sensor ? Please help
