Many Black people have very unrealistic views on how to get out the hood. Notice how he asked them “where do you see yourself in 5 years?” They said music and basketball 🏀 for the kids. Black people gotta realize that rap music and sports is not the answer no more. You can also be successful by working a lucrative job. Everyone is not gonna make it as a rapper or ball player. Being police officers, IT tech, truck drivers, firemen or the medical field along with other realistic jobs can help you be successful also. We ain’t gonna get nowhere trying to be entertainers.
@wnypaisan27 100% Agreed. Many Black parents are DEAD BROKE and can't take care of themselves but keep having kids they can't take care of. Who in their right mind wants to live in this nonsense? You set your kids up or failure for sure.
We need to glorify black ownership and entrepreneurship along with hard work an no excuses. Take notes from everyone else doing good for themselves. Niggas aint no different. We all ppl and we all gotta go thru the hard work and sacrifice to get ahead. We need that to be whats cool in the community not being a fucken bum serving dope feinds living on ya mamas futon
@@AxelfoleyTheGreat absolutely bro. My dad is black and my moms is white. He did the stereotypical shit and left when i was a kid. Now that im doing good for myself with kids and a wife he avoids me like the plaugue but gives love to his two fucked up kids he got with another wife. He avoids success like the plague. And my black side of the family thinks im selling drugs when really im just working hard. They just cant seem to grasp the concept of hard work like the rest of us its a shame. And the few folk on my black side who do work and nowhere to be seen cause its the same situation. You a uncle tom ass nigga for trying hard and making friends outside the hood
You can't bless anyone or tell God who to bless. Their will is their own. Their God is a media that conditioned them who to believe. Let's guess what kinda music they listen too.
I grew up in Englewood. Left as soon as I got the chance but I recently visited family there and saw some of the same faces just hanging on corners that I saw as a kid. Shit is sad honestly.
@@fuckthepolice.9410 I worked until I saved up to buy a cheap but reliable car and then got a second job. Saved up more and applied to a few jobs that were in better areas and paid better so I could afford to live in that area. I didn't do anything special but worked my way up now I'm going out of state to buy a house within the next year.
@@mrpep1976 Have you seen the actual numbers of shootings and murders in Chicago recently? There's more dead and wounded than in the war zones we were in overseas.
Mumwaldee I’ve seen them and they’re still not as high as they were when I was on the streets as a teen. Look up 1991 -92, that’s when we’re out there raising hell. No cameras , no internet , everybody was out on the street doing there thing.
@Jeremy Walsh maybe so idk... but this charlie dude is going around filming having money sent to. His paypal probably ripping ppl.off for money without them even knowing
I believe what these guys have to offer is awesome. Instead of leaving, they are working on improving their neighborhood; by bringing in music and sports, which is great for children. I wish them the best.
One thing I noticed growing up in Chicago is the accent has changed. Cats use to talked a lot clearer. Now its like everything is mumbled. Wasn't like that before.
dat dude I feel you on that. Guys always talked with slang. Chicago guys from the 70s talked diffrent from dudes from the ups. So on and so on. Each generation has ther own twist.
@awaisis I swear I'm not judging...but change starts with the man...who effects his children...watches out for his neighbors....not some government system that will never care about you...like MLK said...it's all about the content of a man's character
I live in Chicago and has for the last 50 yrs. It is one of the most beautiful cities in the world and yet so sadly has so much crime! If you don't already live here don't come here to live...a short visit is good enough
@@woodbooger617smitty3 no the government needs to STEP OUT. you cant have a majority BLACK city RUN by a MAJORITY BLACK GOVERNMENT. BLACKS AND DEMOCRATS ARE WAY TOO SOFT ON CRIME. Notice how they’re always looking around when they’re talking to the cameraman. Looks like they’re afraid someone’s about to pull up on them at any second
Do you fuck niggaz understand the fact that if u gangbanging in Chicago u can't go to work that's suicide that's like telling everybody come shoot me if u know shoota shellz when he got shot dead he was going to work look him up stop fucking assuming
Thank God probably all of the people who lived in these beautiful old homes when they were new are dead. They would be depressed as Hell to see what's happened to them.
Longdays609 these type guys created Rock and Roll, Blues, country, pop etc.. All I see is everybody listening to mumble rap.. must be something catchy?
Man you just brought back memories of my aunties then yelling at us back when we was shorties about staying out them alleys. I’m from memphis but Chicago where all my family from . Second home 72nd and Cornell south shore.
I was born and raised in the hoods of Chicago. What I did was unplug myself from all the gang and pushers. Started hanging out with an upscale crowd and changed my whole appearance. I always argue with idiots that get offended about other people telling these kids to pick up their pants. They say that it's a style and a black fashion. Once you pick up them pants and change that whole appearance you'll see how quick society accepts you. I now own property and moving to Europe in 2 years to make sure my child doesn't deal with this crap I dealt with. I'm a living proof that change is good.
Come on my Chicago people, I love yall but we have to start making changes for our good to better ourselves. I moved away from Englewood because I've lost 6 family members in one year and that's nothing to be proud of! If we as Chicagoans can make it better and do better we can overcome this. This is painful to see my people going through what they go through in the Southside , Northside and westside.
Music or Sports. Chasin that glamorous lifestyle. Would it kill you to be an Accountant? Or a Plumber? Or an Engineer? Or Electrician? Or a Doctor? Or work for the City? County? Or State? There are other ways of making it out the “hood”.
Mr Rager Idiot parents, instilling the Victim Mentality in their kids born out of wedlock. I keep hearing Racism, Slavery, Poverty, etc..... But I think it all boils down to God Awful parenting. IQ/Genetics might play a role too. But I’ll be labeled a Racist White Supremacist for bringing up facts and data.
@@RS-ti7bz they dropped outta high school because its a safety issue when you tied ina streets. so the sell drugs to get by then they get locked up n once you get locked up you cant get a government job so that's like 40% of job opportunities out the window. N most places dont dont hire convicted felons so take another 30% of jobs away now they stuck with minimum wage jobs. You can make more money selling weed in a day then a minimum wage job, so they continue to to sell drugs or be bums...a lot of people are on probation so they cant leave the state n get out...n the lil kids look up to the nigga with the money n guns n the cycle starts over again
K Michael Plumbers make over $100k a year. Guarantee most of the “Rappers” you see on Worldstar ain’t got Plumbers Money coming in. But it’s about “That life” I guess. There are other careers for Black Youths besides Sports or Music.
I can understand why crime is so high in these neighbourhoods. It must feel like being trapped in a vicious cycle. I hope opportunity comes their way and they find a way out. There's much more to life than this.
The fact is. They can as a community make their community amazing. No violence, no drugs, no gangs. Clean, and safe. They choose not to. Because of the influence of the mainstream pop culture glorifying drugs, gangs, being a thug, pimps, sex, etc, and the welfare state. It’s another form of slavery. A mental slavery a concrete prison.
peace& Love That’s true as well. It’s unfortunate that these types of communities ask for hand outs from the same people that oppressed them. Instead of creating school food programs, day care programs, school programs, work programs, life skills programs. Instead of gang banging. What’s even sadder is the fact that the black households had less broken families before segregation.
N everybody in Chicago seen some shit ! When you from the hood in general you seen some shit! But I think he’s rather than him seeing some shit he’s done some shit ! He got that demon look in his eyes
First. I'm a white dude who isn't qualified to do anything other than express my sincere hope that these young men find success and happiness. Many years ago, I found myself locked up in prison for 51 months for something I didn't even do. It was one of the most enlightening experiences of my life. I was the minority in that situation and I gained much empathy for all my brothers faced with incarceration. I wrote a book entitled: I WENT TO PRISON AND SO SHOULD YOU! The idea or concept is that if you found yourself labeled a convicted felon until the day you die, you might learn to open your heart and mind to the plights of other people. AND STOP BEING SO JUDGEMENTAL. I wish these young men all happiness and success life can offer. If anyone would like free copy of my book, hit me up.
Thx so much for your videos Americans shouldn't have to live This way. I pray for them every Day. I'm from Rhode Island and Providence police and city Started youth basketball teams in our parks to help keep teens from getting into trouble it works. Kids and teens are so smart They just need positive things To do positive people who care. God bless you and your family have a wonderful Christmas and a happy New Year 🤗
Charlie, good interview. Best question: “What do you want to be doing in 5 years?” Perfect open ended question. Then, I like how you let these guys talk. THAT is the best. A couple questions I would ask them: Why all the vacancies? Why are the buildings boarded up? What do you do on a typical day? Will a music career allow you to buy a home? How do you help the disadvantaged in your community? These are the types of open ended questions that elevate the value and quality of your videos. Driving around is good, but the human experience is 100x more valuable. Stay safe Brother.
From the videos I've watched for such a small area in USA like south side Chicago i have never seen so many talented musical minded people, write direct vocals the songs themselves damn stop the violence and generate the talent the community has, its untapped potential is immeasurable
"Looking out for the children" Great positive role models here, inspiration and full of energy! The kids can really get a feel of what its going to be like growing up doing nothing with your life. Sitting on the steps of run down houses smoking giving yourself cancer while grasping the whole English language. If you're still trying to be a rapper at 30 years old man give it up and find a career that you can sustain yourself and a family.
It's sad to see people live like this, I wish I could help them somehow. At the end of the day regardless of race, people just want to feel loved and be ok. This is so sad.
Zoltan Olah , sad fact is that it doesn't have to be this way. Yes, it will be hard to change, but anything worthwhile in this world is not easy to do, but it CAN be done, and the results are worth it. People need to get enough fire in their bellies to say "enough is enough." People have lived in these bad neighborhoods, and have bettered themselves and gotten out. It's not easy, but is worth it. And there are others out there who will help. Remember, where there is a will, there is a way.
@payd doos wrong bro. As long as you are not convicted of a violent felony yoj can possess and wear up to a class 3 vest. BUT if you have a vest on and you have a firearm or a "controlled" or commit a crime with it on....thats where they get you.
Love how the homie shouted out famous dex in that manner. Not too many older cats admit looking up to someone younger than them because of pride. That shows you what kind of people you rocking with. Big ups
There is a funny scene in the movie "Murder on the Orient Express" (the original; 1974) wherein an English butler (John Gielgud) is asked by the Belgian detective (Albert Finney) if the butler's bunk mate, an Italian immigrant to America (Denis Quilley), can speak English. . "A kind of English," the butler says. "I think he learned it in a place called Chicago."
Moved to 68th block of May (across Racine) West Englewood straight out of HighSchool. Would walk to 63rd St. EL to get to work nights at UPS off Roosevelt. That was always an adventure back in the 90’s. So lucky to be here among the living still.
Wow, very impressive.. this is a privlage for Chicago's, id like to take a moment and congratulate, Mayor Lori Lightfoot of Chicago, and Governor of Illinois Gov. JB Pritzker .. Job well done 👍
if you aren't doing anything else, work 2 fast food jobs for a year, buy a bus ticket and first month's rent in another city and get a better job or go to school. boom, you are out of the ghetto
Most realistic comment I've read so far.. there ARE ways out unfortunately the mindset is what causes people to create the narrative that they are stuck
@@JimmyStruthers1000 how so? I know people who went to college, worked a full time job, had another part time job, and ended up making it through grad school. Everyone has the same amount if time in a day.. if someone just sits in their arse all day and then complains about their situation, are they really justified in doing so???
Every interview vids like this these brothers always chasing the fantasy music life style. Not one mention of businesses, real estate ect. Fxck it opening a simple hood convenience/tobacco store would benefit the squad better than chasing the “Music” dream. 🤷🏾♂️🤦🏾♂️

I grew up on 65th Stewart in the Englewood area, we had fun as a kid, you had good and bad which is everywhere. It looks totally different now, we were all over Englewood.
I live in Chgo and this is not a complete pic of Englewood nor Chicago as a whole. Every city in the USA has a struggling neighborhood and there is another prosperous side of Englewood that should be seen.
Just like the news. They will only show the worst. Its good for entertainment purposes. Ive lived in Chicago, on the south side for most of my life. This is not my experience.
FOH, NOT LIKE CHICAGO.....NOWHERE IN AMERICA DO PEOPLE HATE TO SEE THE WEEKEND AND HOLIDAYS COME LIKE THE PEOPLE THERE.....THE SHOOTINGS THERE ON HOLIDAYS AND CERTAIN WEEKENDS ARE WAY ABOVE THE FUCKING NATIONAL AVERAGE.....HELL I MAKE A POINT TO WATCH THE NATIONAL NEWS AFTER HOLIDAYS JUST TO SEE HOW MANY WERE SHOT AND KILLED....ITE ENTERTAINING....I KNOW ITS FUCKED UP....AND SO IS THE SHIT THATS GOING ON THERE....
People live in Englewood that go to work and own their homes. Some of the homes are nice and well maintained. The biggest downside to owning a home in Englewood is that you do not bet much equity from it. Real estate values are stagnant and in fact the population of Englewood is shrinking. Crain's Chicago Business did an article about homeowners in Englewood. There are some nice blocks there, but sadly a lot of Englewood is deteriorating. Sadly, I don't see Englewood improving any time soon.

You certainly can’t judge a book by a cover. I thought “Oh, another wanna be rapper” but went and checked it out and it’s actually really good. One has an OutKast sound.
I respect these guys you're trying to do something positive for the kids and for themselves. It's sad with the surroundings but it trying to stay positive and keep fighting keep pushing forward that's what it's about. God bless Jesus loves you guys
