Saved my life in Afghanistan!!! But annoying and heavy as hell in my head lol.

That moment when you think the helmet will protect you from an impact, but then it feels like you got beaten in the head by a rock because you forgot to warm your damn pads.

The first thing you are going to do when receiving this helmet is put those useless helmet pads into a ziploc bag with the X harness and replace them with a better quality harness and pad system. Oregon aero or 4D tactical pads and an opscore H nape should do the trick 👌 eventually upgrading the NVG shroud should be considered as well.

Yeah, those pads SUCK. Especially when they get cold, they become hard as a rock.

This helmet has thicker edges, so if you want mount something(helmet light, action cam...) else use CADEX ACH side rail and newer US ARMY PSQ-20 mount for ECH

With fielding of the ECH, Operation Helmet is receiving multiple requests at the individual and unit level for the helmet pads we buy and send free to troops OTW. Told ya'. Now over 83,000 kits sent out, none returned. These upgrade pads ($28 apiece) last an entire deployment, not the six months with the GI sacks of poop.

I hope they shift to the TW exfil SL I bought one and I wish I had that while in. It’s so light. So incredible to see the difference while jumping long distance.

ECH is product of the Marine Corps and Army and suppose to be the first level 3 ballistic protection which it can take high caliber rifle rounds .30 carbine, 5.56 NATO, 7.62 Kalashnikov not sure about 308. Pads are also updated not sure if the pads are by Skydex or Gentex. By this time ECH will be used only by combat roles so the ACH and LWH will be still in use in noncombat roles do to ECH is to expensive to make do to the material that is being used to make it.

Why did they leave an etched ruler off the measuring device?

I just don't like how the Skirt of the helmet is so high, its leaves more room for shrapnel to shred your head. I know that this has far more ballistic protection and is lighter but has less overall coverage of the head.

I purchased a size large helmet. I believe that it's an ACH since it has the Army ACH harness installed. I didn't like the ACH harness, so I purchased a USMC harness which I like better. I don't know if this harness was for an ECH or a LWH, but it doesn't fit the helmet that I have. It indicates that it will fit L& ExL., but it just isn't large enough...it doesn't fit. Any ideas on the reason? I also noticed that the screw posts on the helmet were too large to go through the grommets in the USMC harness...not such a big problem, just enlarged them with a center punch to fit. Numbers on it are; 97427/04011896-2 looked this up in the NSN registry...nothing. The 97472 brought something up, but not a single equipment piece.

I was issued a Gentex ECH, and I wish to know the date of manufacture. It gives me the contract #, the NSN, the P/N, the lot #, and tbe S/N. From which of these numbers can I date it?

Sir. Can you tell me how to cleaning impact pads? Because I don't have a budget to replace them every 6 months.

I preferred the old LWH and PASGT shell design, bigger ear covers, bigger brim, larger neck protector... This looks like the copy of a MICH.

Do these helmets actually stop anything other that the slowest debris from a blast? I have heard soldiers say they are only good for covering a bald head. 😂

Seems to me one of the most impractical desighned helmets I have ever seen and probably one of the most expensive to produce. Hell, my Equastrian Troxel Helmet has a better desighn than this at $50. With that pad systom it rides too high on the head with no ear or neck protction.....looks like your wearing a mushrum with a cobweb netting for a retainer. Does the retainner clip have any breakage so you dont get your head riped off from artilery concusion?

Fun fact: bullet resistance is not only measured in penetration but also back face deformation. Level 3A would stop all pistol calibers. The ACH does stop penetrating, but would kill you via crushing your skull minimum of 2 inches, therefore NOT making it qualified for a level 3A certification. LWH looks better

The helmet sucks, I can't mount my PSQ20B bracket or my helmet light because the edges are to thick. I will have to keep using my ACH. Just a nother waste of money for the DOD.
