I downloaded the game because of this review last week and I just made it to chamber 3 and died before the boss. Honestly this game is so additive. Send help
Ana Johnson and if you have the bullet AND the shell you can dual wield them for maximum chaos so you don't know what is going on anymore, you just see shotguns n pistols flying all over your screen
I can’t stand it, I just make sure I have enough blanks and health left to go around before I’m toe-to-toe. But I finally did what I thought would take me so long to do.
"The enemies themselves are bullets, so you have to dodge those bullets that the bullets are shooting at you by tiptoeing through these tiny gaps in between their attacks or rolling through them while simultaneously shooting your own bullets out of your gun, which may in fact be a bullet that shoots out pistols." This is the greatest sentence I have ever heard.
@@irarelyupload6930 What are you implying? Taste is subjective. ETG is definitely one of the best Rouge Likes out there. If you’re not fond of Rouge Likes that’s understandable. But you don’t have to like the genre so it can be considered one of the best.
this game was just offered for free as part of a playstation promotion, so i hope that more and more people will play this game. it actually got me into roguelikes as a genre, and its an incredible game on its own.
The best gun in the game hands down is the gun that shoots guns that shoot bullets. I don't care that there are statistically better guns, "Bullet" is the best gun.
@@NO-gh4qp same, been trying to figure out the resource rat boss without any guides. Beating him will be like injecting pure crystal meth right into the blood stream. Definitely going to tackle exit the gungeon after this
I could never finish the character ending stages... i could beat the Dragun with a well made arsenal, but you lose all your stuff after you get the true gun(with the true bullet). You go back to having 6 half-hearts worth of lives, and whatever the character is using during that particular scene, in their past, the past that they're supposed to kill.
Back here to say thanks. I saw your video and thought "hey, looks cool". Bought the game like a month later. Didnt see the potential immediatly, "too hard for me". Few months later, remembering the love you expressed in this video, i thought "let's give it another chance". I play it 4 hours per day now. I love it. So thanks to you, and the passion you put in this video, i insisted. And I have a lot of fun today. (instead of a lot of skills...)
One of my favorite things about this game (besides its surprisingly simple core mechanics fitting together into a lot of depth) is the immense variety of guns you can use and how the game encourages you to have a diverse load-out of weapons for every situation. Outside of like 3 guns out of hundreds of them, there are no bad guns in this game, something not every single fps I've ever played can EVER claim.
If anyone is wondering how to get better at the game, the answer is that it just eventually “clicks” and you just “get it”. I couldn’t defeat any of the chamber 4 bosses for the longest time but then I randomly got gud and beat the game twice in a row. S̶o̶ ̶i̶t̶’̶s̶ ̶j̶u̶s̶t̶ ̶l̶i̶k̶e̶ ̶d̶a̶r̶k̶ ̶s̶o̶u̶l̶s̶!̶
It’s nice to see a channel as big as Dunkey’s reviewing lesser known game instead always caving in and reviewing only triple a titles. Really shows you how much he passionately loves video games.
When I first played ETG, I hated it so much because of its difficulty. I tried again and again, but I couldn’t get past the first floor. So, I uninstalled it. Until I decided to reinstall it because why not? I booted it up, and actually got to the second floor. I was incredibly impressed with myself and also relieving. Eventually, I kept making more and more progress to the point where my reflexes were sharper than steel, and I began to appreciate the game more. And then, I went through my first god run. Nothing compares to the amount of dopamine and adrenaline flowing through me during that event. And then, I beat the game (almost, since I died to the boss you fight when you kill a character’s past), and I thought to myself “That….. was fucking awesome.” ETG still holds a special place in my heart to this day. Not only as an amazing experience, not only something that made me like sports (I was bad at sports and hated that, but faster reflexes fixed that issue), but one of my favorite games of all time and the game that got me into my favorite video game genre; roguelikes (Also Hades and Dead Cells).
After watching this review I kept this game in my mind for years and now I finally bought it. The gameplay is one of the most layered and fun experiences I've ever had
FrozenStar it's almost 100% coming next month, devs have said that the update's pretty much done amd is coming S O O N, they also specified that this time they actually meant soon
I played this game a long time ago without having a youtuber tell my dumb mind that obviously cant think for itself to actually play this game :D Seriously people need to start thinking for themselves
NeonOverdrive ok hippie good for you, this game deserves recognition and you see a famous youtuber reviewing something and saying it's good as a social problem, wow you are not the sharpest tool in the shed
I first learned about enter the gungeon from this video back in 2020, I've sunk over 600 hours into enter the gungeon and enjoyed every second of it. Thanks for recommending this amazing game dunkey, I still come back to this video every once in a while to reminisce
The issue with this, is that he still hasn't finished his mario 64 lets play. But damn when the next episode comes out you know it's gonna be amazing. He's been working on it for years.
Or. Now just hear me out here. He decided that he'd make a video on something he's been playing recently? I can almost guarantee he didn't wait for nearly 3 years, to formulate an opinion on a dungeon crawler.
I'm back here several years later after finally picking up the game, and I have to say this game is so genuinely awesome and it's made me better at video games. I love roguelikes, but usually I pick more strategy-based ones like Slay the Spire and Dicey Dungeons. I've never been good at bullet hells. But over the past month or two I've put over 150 hours on this game and gone from dying to gatling gull to beating the lich hitless. It's an awesome experience and I highly recommend giving it a try.
I'm in the same boat except I don't uninstall it, I just leave it there on my hard drive so I can jump in and out angrily at my own leisure. Also this is the same for a dozen other roguelites in my steam account.
Desperately want to like this game. Art style is fantastic and it is well polished but something about the gameplay is more annoying than fun to me. And I love Binding of Isaac.
The problem I have with this game is, that there will never be a second part. I know there is exit the gungeon but this doesn't fill the hole that enter the gungeon left
Good advice for people starting out is that it is not about progression through floors. The more you die, the more currency outside of the Gungeon you earn and the more weapons/items you can buy. Most things you have to purchase (or unlock) and once bought you probably won’t be able to go back to the standard set-up. Once I unlocked Gunther.. well primed Gungeoneers know the rest
Yess bro one of the best games I've ever played. I have 150 hours on it and only just now have beaten all 5 stages - Everyone should buy this game it's amazing
commenting here after playing ETG for 55 hrs winning my first high dragun kill, thanks Dunkey, if it wasn't you I would've not bought this beautiful game.
it took me almost 60 hours to win this game and i loved every minute of it, highly recommended. so many funny guns in this thing. and there are secret levels that i have not yet defeated.
Can't say Dead Cells has that much depth, from what I've seen and played. It's a bit unbalanced unfortunately. The art style is fantastic so it's a real bummer.
I just love how the game references _everything._ you’ve got metal gear references aplenty, doom references, terminator references, 2001 space odyssey references, THERE ARE SO MANY DAMN REFERENCES
I just hate the fact that there isn't an obvious Terraria reference with how great and famous that game is, and there's even a Hyper Light Drifter reference.
Im pretty sure this review, which convinced me to buy Gungeon back in late 2020, was the very first stepping stone into liking games that kick my ass. Gungeon, Cuphead, Eldin Ring, all games that I have tons of hours in, despite me knowing they are out of my mental capacity and skill level. Thank you dunkley, for this great review and game recommendation.
Canthro the Canthro I wish every Dunkey video was longer, but at the same time I really respect him for not dragging them out to 10 minutes. He's da best
