That's a must for anyone playing Rollercoaster Tycoon, though. You simply can't have a true game without sending hordes of people to all kinds of horrible, inescapable deaths.
For anyone that has/still plays rollercoaster tycoon 2/3: i keep seeing them at swap meets and have never played them before, do they hold up/worth playing today?
Pay 2.49 now for a loot crate that you can open for a chance to get 1 of 5 skins for Sonic! NOW AVAILABLE! Put a hat on Knuckles for only 19.99! You can also buy the DLC Pack which gives a hat on each of Knuckles's fists for only 59.99!
When can i unlock the flamethrower also does this game have a prestige system. I need to spend 1000 hours unlocking a thing everyone can see but no one cares about.
The thing I love the most about this video is Dunkey’s praise of “that one boss”. I have beaten the game, and the bosses are so good I have no idea which one he’s talking about.
@@dismasthepenitent569 pretty sure both versions of that boss are like tied second worst in the game. pretty sure its gotta be either mean bean or maybe heavy king?
The way you do this is when you find a hook on hydrocity after the area where you first use a switch which turns on propellers, go right and then once you pull the switch to lower the water click right 3 times, left three time, and lastly up 3 times while still on the hook. Then just proceed the level and see the results
"There is a boss fight in here that I am not going to spoil, but once you play the game, you'll know what I am talking about." The Dr. Mario boss fight.
add some nostalgia points from his parts too, along with the fact that he loves good sonic games. if he gave an honest rate without letting nostalgia and past dissapointment talk he'd have given it a 3 or 4 /5.
When fans make fan games: Sega: “We can make a whole game out of this fan game, going back to Sonic’s original games” Nintendo: “our lawyers are on stand by”
Nintendo is so disappointing when it comes to fangames. I don't think a 2D Pokémon fangame will make their sales go down, or a Mario game on dreams. If a fan were going to buy pokemon sword, I dont think a simple fangame will make them revoke their purchase
@@skwiizzii8695 Yeah, but I understand Nintendo. It IS kinda violating their copyright and they want to be the sole owners of their IP. A good way to put it is "Nintendo is for the games, Sega is for the fans.".
@@professionalfangster1510 I feel like it is less the decision of the developers and makers of the game, and more to do with the soulless, corporate side of Nintendo and the scums that run that part of Nintendo that no one even know exist that are behind these decisions.
considering Dunkey recently just posted a video saying game critics overly hype their games and don't stay true to their review, for him to give this game a perfect score tells me that I need to get this game immediately
Abraham linkan. What do you mean, dunkey is a very fair and lenient critic. he gave a 5/5 rating to - oh wait, no. Well how about - wait not that either. I mean at least he gave a 5/5 to - wait, that was a 3/5... hmm.
It's a rare treat to hear such excitement & passion about a game. Sonic Mania proves that they didn't need to fuck with the original formula they just needed to make more of it. Just like with other long running series (looking at you Resident Evil & Final Fantasy)
@@shlokwaghela9560 They tried evolution with the sonic series. The result was dogshit like sonic unleashed and sonic and the black knight. Those who want something different should demand new games rather then screwing up already popular and successful ones.
@@Dragonking1984 Wait, how tf is Unleashed dogshit? Like, if you are expecting a tight momentum based platformer, it does have that, so what's the issue? And, I did not really explain my point earlier but the argument that it was Sega's original vision to bound Sonic always to 2d is a misguided one, as the series always focused on getting better and bigger and more innovative each entry (Look at Sonic 1 to SA2 especially). Sure, it fumbled (Shadow the Hedgehog should've been the best Sonic game instead it is the worst) and had clearly bad ideas (Humans and Hedgehogs), but it was all because of time restraints forced by Sega, not the development team itself. As for the examples you gave, what do you mean Resident Evil and Final Fantasy haven't changed, they have SIGNIFICANTLY changed, especially Resident Evil, Final Fantasy less so but still. Honestly, I would've prefered if they kept building up on the foundation laid by SA2 and Sega should've provided them with enough developmental time. As of now, the only reason Sonic is so hated, is because it took too much criticism, now it's nothing but a shallow shade of what it was once meant to be all to appeal a wider audience who never cared. Frankly, it is sad that they are relying on pure nostalgia these days. Don't get me wrong, Mania is one of my favourite Sonic games like, ever, and while the level layouts are vastly different and improved, the visual themes are the same, which stops it from being my favourite classic game. In my eyes, 06 was the nail in the coffin which combined bad ideas with short development time while also having a good ambitious at heart. If you wanna see what it's like to keep the series as it was, look no further than Sonic 4. That's what you get.
I think it's the other way around. Fans: "You guys suck at making games. Let us do it." Sega: "Sure." Fans: "Sonic Mania" Sega: "Good job. Can you guys illustrate our comics, too?" Fans: "Hell yeah."
Bought Sonic Mania this summer because of this video. It was my first ever Sonic game and it was so worth it. Can easily see myself going back and beating the whole thing again and again
I’ve never met anyone who likes that game who didn’t play it as a kid. I get the impression that nostalgia goggles play a huge role in people’s enjoyment of that game.
SA2 is easily one of the best Sonic games ever made, and also easily one of the best 3D Platformers ever made. Chao Garden singlehandedly adds at least 2 points to its score.
I had no doubt it was going to be good. The fans have known what they've wanted for years and now that they've finally handed them the reigns and listened to their ideas they finally made a new beautiful and enjoyable Sonic game for all.
Plus its very easy concept. everyone knows 2D sonic was good. the challenge is 3D sonic. it was never good. if they make it good now then maybe i will give them credit.
See, I'm probably an outlier, in that I thought that the minigames in Sonic Adventure Battle 2 were great. I loved snowboarding down the hills verses my friends. It was great. You could cheese some downhill sections after that bit on Metal sonic by using his ability. Like, the game itself wasn't great. It was kinda meh, but splitscreen was fun. 2D sonic is where it's at. I can't wait until I'm working again to get Mania.
I really want this game to be a sort of "wake up call" for Sega (along with Forces). Seeing this game take of and Forces most likely flopping, I want Sega to see how a Sonic game should be made and I don't mean Classic Sonic only; I mean the passion and desire to make what the fans want. Personally, I want a really good 3d Sonic game. I've always preferred 3d but they've been usually very subpar. They need to master the basic functions and gameplay, making sure it feels good to play instead of trying to add and innovate some unnecessary mechanic or feature that will ultimately get shot down by fans.
Benito 7 sonic generations and colours were good because they only focused on the elements that make good sonic levels i.e no conversations with humans, no werehog levels, no fishing etc. Jim sterling did a great video on it along time ago.
Benito 7 I feel like even though Forces will probably me a mess, it's giving what fans want: an outlandish fanfiction they found on deviantart including the all the most famous baddies teaming up, all the good guys working as a cohesive unit, an edgy villain with a ridiculous design, and the ability to make their OCs. It feels very tounge-in-cheek and while I probably won't buy it I look forward to the inevitable Game Grumps series where Arin screams about how the game is a bag of dicks and Danny agrees to everything he says
Sonic Forces is going to be the Sonic game that took the longest to develop in the entire series with over 3 years of development time. I'm confident the game will be good.
I just played through Sonic Mania, and I gotta point out that the remixed levels are so different from the originals that they actually are new levels. There are little callbacks to specific parts of stages, but they're totally different for the most part. I've beaten all of the original Sonic sidescrollers, and aside from the way the levels look, there's very little in common between the original levels and the remixed one. Great game.
@@cangrejopendejo4909 CD’s level design philosophy was much different than the other classic games. The focus was more on exploration than it was speed
@@lightray9264 That's just not true. I've played through every classic Sonic game and the differences pretty much begin and end with the past/future mechanic which doesn't change the levels that much anyway.
Finley you are a skilled artist and intellectual. You make me laugh and think all the time. You’ve made me happy in some of my hardest times. I just wanted to say thank you on this three year old video
as a sonic fan when a good game comes out finally after years of waiting it just makes u sad because u know what sonic can be yet they can't keep him that way
You're _surprised_ that Sonic Mania of all things got anything but a 5/5 from anyone who's ever seen or played it (besides me)? To me it's little more than nostalgia fodder with a glossier coat of paint aimed at a fan-base with rose-tinted nostalgia goggles glued to its face. I've honestly never watched any of dunkey's reviews for other games, but even if he's got this reputation for hardly liking any game nowadays-let alone seriously give any given game a 5/5 rating, I honestly can't say that I'm anywhere near surprised that he gave this game the rating he did. It's almost par for the course in this day and age.
BlueSunStudios1 alright, let me tell you something. Sonic mania is not just good because of nostalgia. I and many other people grew up with 3D sonic games, and 3D sonic will always be great in my eyes(even if there are some bad 3D sonic games). And as a 3D sonic fan, I can tell you that it is not just nostalgia pandering. It is well made, fun, and overall a great game. I seriously recommend it to anyone who is a fan of platformers, even if you're not a huge sonic fan. I encourage you to give it the benefit of the doubt, and consider purchasing it yourself.
I love these videos that are partially informative and serious and part casual and jokes thrown in. It's this perfect bland which makes it extremely engaging to watch.

I had that game, it was really strange and super annoying babysitting those little birds every level. But as always the music was amazing.... I mean Rusty Ruin Zone's Theme is incredible
Hardly anyone had Sonic 3D Blast. It came out on the Genesis way too late, came out on the Sega Saturn, which only Japanese people had, and even if you did have it... ...Sorry, I tried to play through it on the Sonic Mega Collection, but it's just not very good.
Raph589 Sonic Adventure 1 and 2 are my favorites. Even though the animations are... not so good, the games themselves are still fun and aesthetically pleasing. Also, when people talk about 2D perspective Sonic games, they seem to forget about Sonic Rush and Sonic Advance. Why's that? Do they not know they exist?
With such a big hit as this it's really no surprise that Sega decided to completely pass on this surefire success and never get this team to make a damn sequel. Failure is their only option when it comes to Sonic after all.
This is my favorite review not only because I also love this game but because Dunkey nailed what makes this game not only a good game but a great game. I have played all the 2-D sonic games and seeing them all mashed into this game was amazing.
Sonic may have topped Mario when he came out, but nothing will ever compare to the greatest character from the greatest game of our generation, and generations to come. Knack, from Knack
rewatching these really reminds you that the dunkview series is one of the best review shows on this hellsite. good setup, presentation of opinions and conclusions. great stuff.
@@kaydenbirdwell5302 it was a reference to his sonic 3 "review", where he was at hydrocity being held by that hand before going in the waterslide and made some funny noises, SEGA took it off because it was put without the higher-ups permission

@@pikmin8129 I think Mario 64 does have dated elements, but I find it to be a more fun and polished experience than Sonic Adventure. But then again I'm more into Mario than Sonic, especially 3D Mario.
I love this intro. To me, it's like video games and entertainment are presented as something that help people escape the crazy tabloids and actual relax and enjoy something.
This is some premium platforming/arcading/pinballing stuff with a great sense of flow, rythm, and speed. Nice OST, too. Really nice design overall. Go get it!
in hydrocity zone act 1, if you stay on one of the hooks and input the level select code from sonic and knuckles, you'll hear a ring sound i'll let you figure it out from there...
Benjamin Anderson He's not lying, just outdated. What he said to do _used_ to make the hand-boosters play Dunkey's "HEEEEEEEYIH" but Sega found out and made them remove it.
@@folo7595 Have you taken a second to consider all of the incredible games on the GC? Just a question. Perhaps you really support that position, but I cannot honestly imagine myself ever saying that SA2 was the best game on the GC, let alone "easily" the best. There are so many amazing games, and I probably only played 20% of them. Metroid Prime 1 + 2 SM Sunshine MK: DD MP 5,6,+7 Wind Waker (Technically Twilight Princess is also a GC game) SSBM All of the Mario sports games were really good. ALL of them. ...and many, MANY others.

@@gabrielrodriguez8019 you tripping bro story wise I think sa2 is superior but prefer the gameplay in sa1 lmao the only better parts about the gameplay are Shadow and rail grinding
sonic adventure is a fun game. But it is mechanically inconsistent. When you compare it to the razor precision and momentum physics of classic sonic, it is a huge downgrade. Dunkey's point is that Mario games improved their quality when they went to 3D, and Sonic games dropped off in quality.
@@blank-hv8xt Tho he says it like Adventure is the worst game ever and like, man, that's just not true, sure, it's clunky as all hell, but a "rough" jump to 3d, that's a f**king myth and keeps Sonic team from making good games and taking risks. This just makes the future for frontiers darker as these normies who haven't even played the 3d titles encourage Sega to make simple, Mario style games (which I love and prefer over Mario but when I want Mario, I'll play Mario)
Of course, even If It was Computer-Downloaded. What do you expect from one of the oldest games that are still played and recognized until these days (you know, a game from the year *1985* :l ). Of course It's cheap for us *now,* but that game was a big deal back then, and today It Is still hard for us casual players. The game has Its own mechanics that even I don't like... but It Is also enjoyable, especially when you know you're gonna be trolled by It >.
