The thing that pisses me off the most is clearly the dude's wife, daughter and family in law either hate him or don't respect him at all. They act like getting rid of him would be the best thing for them and are happy about it. Then he finds out and they start acting sad only because he found out. The wife, daughter, sister in law and mother in law are terrible people and I hope the dude doesn't have to pay a single penny to them in the divorce because of this.

What a absolutely disgusting betrayal by the wife and the whole family. They wasted years of his life when they didn't want him and all he wanted was to BE wanted. After knowing the entire story I can't help but feel that the Op should slowly reconnect with the daughter simply because the daughter was eight when it first happened and she was always with the mother and the mother-in-law so there was obviously gossip and obviously horrible talk about the OP. I understand that what she did is awful and horrible but she did grow up with it and was taught it. To me sometimes kids get taken away by the fun of stuff because obviously she was going on girls trips and spending money and seeing her mother happy. I personally don't agree that it is the OP fault because he even states that he actively tries to amend it while everything is still happening, to me it seemed like victim blaming, I don't blame the OP for having such pain, and could never forgive the daughter but she made a mistake and she's trying to fix it my only suggestion would be to slowly let her back in at your pace.
