Our labor of love for the past 7 years is for SALE! It is Bittersweet. Check out the details here on our Blog:
sundownersailsagain.com/sundow...
After a couple of weeks in the Swimming Pool we recommission our RAINMAN WATERMAKER after having it pickled for 10 months while Sundowner was in Panamarina.
The water here is so nice and we enjoy the easy access to the outer reef of the Swimming Pool. We film some cool underwater fish and rays and Tate shoots a 15 pound Dog Snapper.
We give away half the Snapper and make some friends from Amsterdam in the process. Alco, Rose and 18 month old baby Kian sailed from Amsterdam down Europe's coast and across the Atlantic to the Caribbean. We check out their boat, an Olsen 38' before heading to a get together on one of our favorite beaches here.
Lobsters are on the grill and Tate makes a Dog Snapper ceviche for the group.
Footage from November 2016
San Blas islands, Panama

Good video, real human. I started this video by seeing the water maker and it really caught my eye. Thanks for bring this to the video. My daughter was in Darien Gap of Panama for several years while in the Peace Corps serving her country. I traveled most of Central America and all of South America for several years as a Sales Engineer so these video really resonate. The quality is quite good so keep up the great works and visit this exceptional world with free abandon. Cheers

Good to see you guys back into the cruising life. I was a fulltime RV'er my first few years of retirement. I always wanted a sailboat and you and others inspired me to do it while I can. I'm on the way to the Bahamas right now, solo in my 36 ft sailboat.

+jrp616 oh wow!! Congrats. I'm always fascinated by the single handers. I never thought I'd be able to do something like that but after being out here I can totally understand. You wouldn't be lonely much...cruisers are so friendly to others, as it is we barely spend a night alone!

Sundowner Sails Again well I'm a Deputy Sheriff and Darla is a Dispatcher we are engaged and decided that we want to become live a boards when we retire. So last year we began sailing our 22' sailboat with no experience and we are hooked. Here in Michigan the sailing season is done and we are counting the days til spring.

Unfortunately Chris I have 11 yr left if I leave early at 20 yrs on. Right now we are honing our sailing skills on a local inland lake near us and this year plan on sailing Lake Erie a few times. My goal is when my kids get older to get a bigger sailboat and sail on the Great Lakes until its time to retire (or I win the lotto.. lol ) and we are gone to the Bahamas. Also trying to hone my video making skills as well. Harder than I thought.

Great video guys. Glad you got the jet in the carb cleared okay. I'm not sure how you stored the unit eight months earlier, but it may help if you run the Honda motor completely dry when you are going to store it for a while. It may prevent the jet getting clogged from fuel evaporation.

for future referance, fish keeps a LOT better if you rinse and freeze in salt water. the fresh water breaks down the flesh and makes it mushy. (not that i imagine it last's long to begin with ;) )

Great video. Is that a stream of fresh water at 3:11? If so, looks like the desalinater makes water at a pretty good clip. Does water made in this manner taste absolutely fresh, or is there any salt residue?

Very cool video! I've really enjoyed watching all of your clips, learning quite a bit! Super jellyfish of yall's cruising lifestyle. That Dog Snapper looked might tasty!!! I recently discovered salt water fillets are better if u rinse them in salt water. Fresh water tends to get absorbed into the fillet and change the density. Just thought I would return the favor of information sharing. ;) I'd be curious if you notice a difference. Keep up the good "work"!!!!!
