Al Green's version of "How Can You Mend a Broken Heart?" here is absolutely sublime, although I do miss the recorded version's riff at the end, when he sings, "How can you stop the rain from falling down?" and then turns it literal, shouting, “My clothes are all wet!”

Another great episode, when I was 13 in 1973 Al Green played a concert in Monroe LA, I begged my parents to go see him, mom said, "No we ain't got the money and you ain't staying out that late on a school night", this kind of made up for missing the show. A couple of years ago we were listening to the Retro soul station and "Let's stay together" came on, me and the other cooks sang it, I was lead and the girls sang back up, the rest of the staff clapped, loved it. The Stylistics, man, Stone in Love with you, I sang that to my wife, we love that song. Livingston Taylor sounded unique, but familiar, like the B-side of an old favorite. I didn't know Foghat was formed with former Savoy Brown members, I can hear the linage, 1st time I see them live, great stuff. Ramblin Jack's name was a perfect fit, Bobby Womack great as always. Murray on the comedy team became famous as the Unknown Comic.

Because high quality video equipment was so expensive in the early days, most of the great bands have very few, (and usually low quality) videos to watch today. The Midnight Special had the best video recording equipment available during that time, so these are some real nuggets.
