Ep. 36 - Lift up bed, side tables and under-bed storage - Tiny House Build Update

I have almost finished the bedroom. The bed and side tables are complete, and in this update, we have a look at my lift bed works, side tables and the storage I built under my bed.
If you know, you know: 🙌.
The updates have been slow to come out, I know. It's mainly because now I am reaching the end of the build I have so many things that are 95% complete but not quite ready for a video. I am waiting on cabinetry to be cut up so I have been busy pre-making as much stuff as I can, so I can build it in when it arrives. Hopefully, I'll have that soon and we'll have a huge rush to the end.
We are getting so close to the end. I can feel it!!
Next steps will be to work on some of the electronics for the automation and other bits and pieces ready for the cabinetry.

🙌 THERE you are! Keep pushing it too far! I love a bedroom ONLY being a bedroom in a tiny house where everything is within reach anyway. Very simplifying. Though it can take a great deal of work to simplify! I love the way your creative process plays out transparently. Some of your stuff reminds me of me. "I did this whole thing to make raising the bed work for all exigencies, then realized I could just take the mattress off." Oh well. But you did another supercool thing anyway that may inform some future situation youre in! For the headboard: shallow storage! I see a high headboard that has to be asymmetrical because of the windows. That will look great. Beautiful narrow doors covering a patchwork of spaces, maybe some small open shelf areas for display, but maybe not. It's a tiny house on wheels, so it's got to move safely . . . and maybe you're not so much into displaying trinkets anyway. Amazing job as always.

🙌 thank you. I am big on keeping a bedroom as just a bedroom also. I wanted a minimal calming space. Nice idea on the headboard. I didn't have space for something like that and I definitely keeping the space looking clean and minimal. I have gone with a simple timber headboard that matches the bed. It’s in my next video. Of all the things I have over complicated I didn’t need to it to the headboard 😂

🙌 thank you. I like the little bedside tables. They are simple and love timber. I do like the bed automaiton. It's a bit over the top but also I really enjoy it now it's done.

I am working as hard as I can mate. Problem is I have committed myself to all these crazy ideas and now have to follow through. Been held up waiting for cabinetry but it has just arrived and I am about to sprint to the end.

Maybe something padded velvet with brass surround for the bedhesd, just to soften it up a bit and bring in some luxe feeling

Love it. I was looking at something like that but struggled with the design and fabric. I eneded up going with timber and brass in the end and I will dress it up with pillows etc. It's in my next video.

Great minds. That is exactly what I did. Well less the reading lights. I put lamps on the bedside tables.

Hey Phil! Congrats on your passion and geekiness on this lovely unique tiny house! You really pinned down all the details and went way beyond mastery❤ Kudos, we are a couple from Romania who are building a tiny house for our family of three (us two Olga, Dan and our baby girl Ava). We also want a special feature to our house (2 interconnected modules) but we got stuck on the engineering of attaching the two… We were wondering if we could approach you with the specifics? Hi there Olga. Thank you for following along. My advice would be to not join two trailers together. Or at least don't make them mobile. It adds far too much complexity. I would do two located next to each other and bulid a shelter between them. Or just build permenantly on-site. Two trailers has been more work than I ever imagined I woudln't do it again. Good luck with the build. Happy to answer any questions I can along the way

questions" eill you have a proper closet and chest of drawers? have you got land yet to park it? will you have a washer and dryer? willl you be finished with the kitchen by the end of the year?

Yes one of the next things I have moving onto will be the wardrobe. It will have draws and hanging space. I am also building in space for a washer dryer combo that will go in the bathroom. That is coming very soon. No land yet (I am not staying here on my land). I will start looking as soon as I am finished. Kitchen was actually almost finished by the end of the year. There is a video coming soon 😉
