Seeing this fandom rise and slowly vanish was something. I still rememeber it fondly, though.

God this video was a blast from the past. This was the fandom that got me into fandoms when I was 12. I remember a lot of the fandom starting to fade and break away when the Frozen aspect began to be added. I know to me and to others, it felt like too much. Two winters character began to break the Season dynamic, messed with the Big Four monicker that the Rise Of The Guardians film introduced, and it was just too many characters for some fic writers to juggle. Too many dynamics, too many ships wars, etc. I checked back a few years after I had left when I was around 16, 17, and people had tried adding Big Hero 6 to make some kind of ‘new age’ Big Four but it just seemed very forced. It didn’t come together by chance like The Big Four did originally. There are so many friends I wish I could reconnect with from that fandom. Ships knitted the fandom together but also kinda tore its edges. I remember the wars+frozen kind of pushed a lot of people out. I ended up at the Marvel and Teen Wolf fandom before moving on again. thebigfoursmanagers, if you’re out there somewhere! I miss you 🥰 best wishes!! (Edits made for spelling errors)

The creator of Rise of the Guardians, William Joyce, has acknowledged this crossover (along with Jelsa) and has even mentioned it in an interview.

This was one of my first! i discovered this fandom along with the hijack ship and they remained my favourite. I always felt like the big four were an important piece of fandom history

The first time I experienced the big four was when someone edited FRIENDS with scenes of the four, it’s hilarious 😂😂😂

I feel like animated ships have staying power partially because they are often people's first fandom and so they kinda tend to stick around in people's naustalgia.

I'm still an active member of the Non/Disney crossover fandom, with one of my biggest OTPs being from this universe, along with many friends still around. For the most part, it's been an enjoyable experience and the fandom is very supportive. The only problems I really have with it is how the outspoken fans with pairings like Jelsa or Willet tend to think that those are the only acceptable pairings. It can be hard to deal with but I'm happy overall.

This video has thrown me straight into the nostalgia pool. I remember discovering this fandom around 2014 and being confused. Very intricate crossovers with multiple properties attached are something I'm not very fond of but I really liked the idea of Rise of the Brave Tangled Dragons. This video was a great trip down memory lane.

I’m so glad Rise Of The Guardians was included in this crossover because it raised awareness for the movie. I cannot believe how little the film is talked about given the heart-felt story and stunning animation. It’s sad that I struggle to find people who have seen it! More than anything ROTG deserves praise and recognition 🥺💕

The Hogwarts AUs are amazing. I love how many people get all mad about the (CORRECT) sorting of Rapunzel and Hiccup into Ravenclaw and Hufflepuff respectively.

Oh RotBTD. It's been so long. How I have missed you. I was so in love with this crossover. On the other hand, it meant that it was sometimes impossible to search the normal RotG fanfic. So much of that movie's fic was integrated with the crossover. RotG and Brave didn't get quite as much solo fic as Tangled and HTTYD. On Ao3, HiJack was the top ship in the HTTYD archive! On the other other hand, I had not heard of the Modern Four and I instantly love them and must go read this immediately.

This fandom was something Ive seen and wanted to get into but it was dying down as I found it. i loved the pairings in this fandom. it was lovely to see the interactions between the characters

This fandom was the most wholesome and exciting fandom experiences I've ever had. I think it was so popular because most of it's fanbase found themselves connected to the stories these movies told. People finding themselves as they grow and finding their place in the world. It was a very universal concept that I think helped bring this fandom together. I miss those times❤️

Damn, this was my 1st fadom ever. It's how I got into fandom, learned what it is & all the lingo that goes with it. It's where I relised I was always shipping characters & then I started shipping Hijack (Hiccup/Jack Frost) & MeriPunzel (Merida/Rapunzel) This is where my whole thing began. I miss this fandom, alot. Kinda wish it would come back. Thank you for posting this, brings back lots of smiles. (& some cringe)

I learned about the Big Four crossover from another crossover trope. It was an avengers crossover with ROTG with the idea that Jack was Loki's kid or a God on Asgard. Which led me to another trope that the cast of the Big Four were Loki's kids from the myths.

As someone who multi ships, the big 4 was a gift from the gods lmao. Hijack was my otp but ironically they were also the characters I loved to see shipped with everyone else the most. Please do a Hijack video! Especially since you recommended There’s Always More in a fic rec Friday. That fic made me rediscover my love for Hijack😍

The Tangled series needs soo much more attention. There's two amazing seasons of it and lots of the lore from the film is explained and expanded upon. Also has all of the original voice cast.

I only heard about this fandom after most of the hype died down. Sounds like a cool endeavor. The Modern Four has some great AMV's online (RU-vid especially) and I love that this newer one gives more recent CGI film characters a chance to shine.

Thank you so much for this wonderful video! The Big Four was my LIFE for such a long time lol. I remember finding out about it while it was still booming, and was immediately hooked. Even though I'm more of a Jelsa shipper, I still love Jack x Rapunzel and Hiccup x Merrida. However, out of the Big Four, my favorite ship would have to be HiJack. I still love falling back into this gem from time to time. I'm thankful for the love it got, and hope to see it remain relevant in the future.

1. Yes, I am a *_HUGE_* fan of the Big Four!! 😁! I've even tried writing several fanfics for it! 2. My experiences with fandom, specifically with the Big Four fandom, have been mostly positive (thank God 😂). I've never really gotten into any flame wars or any of that other petty crap. 3. Yes, for the Big Four, I have many, many, _many_ pairings:Hijack, Hiccunzel, and Jarida being my top three ones, and too many others to name here. The only ones I don't ship are Mericcup (too overrated for me), Jelsa, and Jackunzel (again, too overrated for my tastes).

Cool. At one point Elsa and Anna were also thrown in the mix which was needless to say, interesting. PS: Yes, I used to be a Jelsa writer and shipper. Not so much anymore.

When I first discovered the Rise of the Brave Tangled Dragons I wasn't super into it because everything seemed to have Jackunzel, Merricup and/or Jelsa as the main pairings and I preferred Hijack, Meripunzel, Rapunzelsa, Janna, Hiccstrid, Rapunzel x Eugene and Jack x Pitch. Nowadays I get the occasional urge to go read some fics for it but I've never been super into it. I remember back in the day my favorite ROTBTD AU was a crossover with the MCU in which Rapunzel, Jack, Hiccup and Merida were Loki's children whom were locked away to prevent Ragnarok from happening. (At the time, I think the most recent movies were Thor 2 and CA:WS) I wonder if it's still around? I'll have a to check!

I got a bit into a it a little after its heyday after seeing some hijack art that I couldn't resist peeking further into. It's actually one of the few crossover fandoms I like being in! Maybe it's just that I got there late but having the characters meet has already been imagined and since quite a bit of the works for the fandom are AUs, you don't really have to work all that hard to make it happen. It's also one of the least toxic fandoms I've seen but that may be because nowadays my toxicity meter is a little skewed by Voltron and SU

I remember 2012 really fondly because of this. Jackunzel was my original otp, or at least for when I figured out what otp meant anyway, and that year was probably the first time I realized just how good a fandom could really be. I was really sad when Jelsa somewhat destroyed the Jackunzel love that had existed at the time, but now I can’t help but look back smiling. It’d be awesome if you could do a video on Jackunzel someday, a really nice blast from the past.

HiJack was my favorite pairing for a while before other pairings pushed their way into my life and refused to leave. I might just have to revisit some of the old fics and vids I adored so much now

I love a good crossover! I'm a big fan of hiccup/jack. I really like Rise of the Guardians. Its one of my go to movies to play in the background while I'm doing something else. OOF I remember this so well. Ahaha mostly cause I am a bit of an active participant in a particular pairing. Okay numbersss I can do numbers. 1. Yes, I am a big fan of the big four and all their films. Particularly How To Train Your Dragon. There were tears at the movie theater for the 3rd one. Many tears. It has been my favorite film for many, many years. I honestly can't believe that it's over, and it ended like that. Brave really reminds me of my mother and I, it's part of why I love it so much. Tangled is a beautiful film, and Flynn Ryder is the actual best. I saw Rise of The Guardians a bit late, 2014 I think, alone in my room in the dark, and I remember that the first scene just took my breath away. It was so beautiful, especially to watch it in absolute darkness. 2. Some good experiences in fandom for this, lots of gorgeous and breathtaking art. Lots of fanfics out there if you go looking. They're really gorgeous films. 3. My favorite pairing is Hijack. I'd love it if you'd go deeper with that ship, but I know it's not the most popular one. :') I really love it, because rumour has it that the legend of Jack Frost is Norse, although it's hard to pinpoint where he originated from exactly. So, I like to think that Hiccup would've believed in him. That, and Jack can fly, Hiccup has a dragon that can fly. They would've had fun.

I remember the first time I saw the Bug Four- it was Hogwarts Au fanart and to this day I adore finding fanart of these four 😍 People are just so creative!

Wooooooow what a trip down memory lane

I was a huge RBTD fan at it's peak, I even had plans for a Hogwarts AU that would also add in the characters of my favorite anime. It never went anywhere but it was a fun idea. I also created a group on DeviantArt to act as a collective for p much all CGI movies with human/humanoid main characters, since there were plenty of Big Four groups out there. This is definitely one of my "good times" fandom flashbacks.

I adore the ROBTD idea, I dabbled a little when it was big and feel slightly nostalgic for it now. Especially after the last How to train your dragon movie. Would you consider doing a HiJack video? That’s one of my favorite pairings from that fandom.

This fandom was in my peripheral because I was pretty into Rise of the Guardians (I am a PitchxJack shipper thank you very much) but I always appreciate these kinds of fandoms popping up and growing in popularity, even for a moment. Creativity for the win!

I love a crossover, if someone has an interest in seeing characters interact I don't see the harm in creating art that explores that. That may be because I like to imagine that myself, Personally in my crossover fiction the characters tend to be employees at an Alpaca Ranch that exists at a place where all universes intersect simply because I find it funny.

I've never been able to latch on to How To Train Your Dragon or its related fandoms due to how far the movies stray from the original book series. I think this is a shame as if the movies were under a different name or it was more clear to me going in that they would be so drastically different from the books I would have had a chance to enjoy the fandom more/at all

Omg this fandom was my favorite and the only crossover fandom that me and my younger sibling had bonded over! Our favorite pairing was Jerida😆 So many good memories. I did the minimum Fanart around that time, but do hope to go back to it as well. 🙂

People don’t talk about Rise of the Guardians enough. For me at least, no one I know has any idea what it is. And it can get a bit embarrassing as a 17 year old to explain that one of my favourite films is a cartoon about Santa Claus and the Easter Bunny. But the film’s so unbelievably creative, it’s wonderful. I forget, have you looked at RotG ships yet? BlackIce and JackRabbit in particular, they’re definitely the most interesting for me.
