In 1978, Ramly along with his wife, started their business at home creating halal burger patties from scratch. They applied loan from government agency but was rejected, they did not give up n now Ramly is one of the most successful local brand✨ Thumbs up 👍 to Charles for bringing u guys to local eating spot instead of tourists spot
Ramly burger made beef patties in the beginning. It didn't sell as much. Even back then, burgers were seen as western cuisine and not part of daily meals. They realized there were people providing buns and other parts that made a burger, it wasn't as readily available. So they encouraged young entrepreneurs to open stalls by giving them a model for them to copy and supplying them with all the ingredients. The most popular locations were in front of 7-11s. The shops provided drinks while they provided food. The 7-11 didn't mind because it resulted in people coming to the store at all hours for burger and drinks
My best take whenever I order a Ramly burger: double beef with extra mayonnaise. I don’t like it to mix with eggs/omelette, cause it underwhelms the taste of the patties. Mind you, every Ramly burger stalls have different taste and seasoning. Maybe you need to try a different stall everyday to find the best one 😂😋 enjoy guys! 😀
Ask every malaysians which Ramly stall is their favorite, everyone will surely give many different answer. Eventho every stalls use the same patty, but their cooking techniques and sauces blend are different.
Love the honest reaction and critiques, this is what we Malaysian want, to know what's the fault and weaknesses so we can improve to be meet any demands in the future, great tour guide, really knowledgeable and great social skill especially with the language, he know how to explain the background of Malaysia so you guys really lucky to meet him
Visited KL for a month and the FOOD was beyond fantastic. I tried them all, street food, restaurant food, Alor St food, and Marble 8 (a steak restaurant near the Twin Towers) Good Lord! I'll be going to Malaysia again next year!!
Ramly used to be a butcher but part time worked at his stall with the wife. Patty was created at home in the beginning. Since being a butcher he knows what meat is good for the burger. That was in the 1980s. Like they say, the rest is history.
Everything Charles showed u are authentic.....And locals nvr get tired of them. The food culture of each ethnic group are distinct and magnified from their own place of origin cos all the big three kinda "compete" with each other 😂😂🤤
For ramly burger history.. Before ramly was created, western food like burger & steak that brought in the country had unknown halal status. So most of the malay/ muslim citizen were sceptical amd doubt whether the food can be eat. So the founder, Ramly Mokni starter his own burger stall on 1979 and sell it on street. On 1984 the ramly food chain company was brought out to cater clean and quality halal western food to the malaysian. You may find many Ramly's food shop selling beef patty, steak meat & etc.
@@StephandPete not only Ramlee burger , mlaysia also have Otai burger, Shukor burger ,Hot burger and Mad burger abd so on... you can find many place around malaysia..... just ask local.. 😌😆😆😆👌😉
Terima kasih in malay roughly translated in english is 'accept love'. I am not sure why but I like to think that when we say terima kasih, we feel the love in whatever service or or food they are providing.
Actually different stall have their own style in making ramly burger and different type of sauce..so if dont like sweet you just have to tell the owner to make it to your like. Ramly burger so famous cause ramly burger like our own fast food franchise that we could afford cause its cheap, affordable and absolutely delicious. 😊
i know where this place is..in malay they called it gerai or medan selera😁.if i'm not mistaken this place is behind naza world PJ and i used to go there with my grandparents..omg you make me miss my grandparents who live in malaysia🥺🥺🥺
@@audreyDsouza Hai Again Sister Audrey . i jumpa you di dalam semua konten tentang Malaysia . I Guess You Really² Miss Malaysia A Lot . i hope untill you come back here , you take a good care of yourself . Malaysia Dihati ♡ 🇲🇾
@@tehaisikattepi9393 obviously i miss malaysia because i'm half malaysian lol..half of my heart is in portuguese while the other half is in malaysia and this is what makes me who i am now👌 surely you won't understand being a mixed person a.k.a hybrid😜
I would normally ask the seller to put half the sauce only ... You can actually ask the seller what you want ...less or more ...I sometimes even ask the seller no sauce at all....but the seller be like .....are you sure ?
Lolol, steph being just a tad snarky (‘as per uhze’… ‘shut up’) is up there with Pete’s impromptu musical interludes for being unexpected funny highlights in their vlogs
Awesome video lol. You guys, hope you enjoy your coming to Malaysia and I really salute Mr. Charles, you have made our guests comfortable and carries a good name of Malaysia. Bravo, sir.
This is perhaps the most tame ramly burger I've seen. usually they absolute drenched it in sauce. lol it's super messy. but different stall, different style.
Ramly burger is only the beef patty. Different stalls selling Ramly burger have different sauces and different take on the recipes , some include pineapples, some include green chillies. Some less sweet, etc.
@@StephandPete To you he may be a tourist guide, but to us he is our ambassador. And your videos sharing your positive experience in our country make you our ambassador too. Thank you and I hope you have a wonderful time here.
21:23 if you want less sweet , you can ask them to put less chilli sauces ,the sweetness come from there ,the burger itself can be customised due to your preference,if you want less or non vegetable you also can do that up to your like
22:25 Oh. You couldn't guess.... That "unexpected sweetness" must have come from mayonnaise..... Some brands of mayonnaise are indeed sweet to my taste buds...
Ramly Food Processing Sdn Bhd (formerly known as Perusahaan Burger Ramly Mokni Sdn Bhd) is a Malaysian frozen and fast food company. The company was founded by Dato’ Dr. Haji Ramly Mokni and Datin Hajjah Shala Siah Abdul Manap in 1984, with the aim of developing a clean and good-quality halal Western fast-food chain in Malaysia. Ramly started a business selling burgers with his wife from street food stalls in 1979. While working as a butcher in a market, he discovered that it is unknown whether most fresh-meat sources were halal or not, leading to Ramly's decision to produce a halal-certified meat source, hygienic and quality products for all Muslim and non Muslim consumers in Malaysia. They also have a chain of fast food restaurants but not as many as McDonalds restaurants.
RAMLY BURGER is the brand of BURGER MEAT either beef or chicken. The RAMLY BURGER is the oldest burger meat brand in Malaysia produce by local Malaysian (the Malays) almost 40 years in market
I found many burger stalls using overly sweet chilli sauce..usually I won't come back for 2nd buy.. but still happy I still can find one nearby stall that cook some amazing Ramlee burger with delicious sauce.
@@SSxxx18 we're talking about overly sweet here..not just sweet..which leaving you to taste nothing else but sweet. Almost all chilli sauces here in Malaysia contain sugar and I'm a Malay myself. Out of all the burger stalls nearby, the one that I keep coming back for is the only one with long q everyday. Their burgers are just simply delicious and the sauce their using is not overly sweet for sure 😉
Usually west people dont like too much sauce. But asia rich with flavour so we put all taste in it. Haha. We put chilli sauce, mayonnaise, black pepper, some put curry powder. Haha.
in fact, we (local) will called the ramly burger with many sauces "Juicy burger", but if u prefer less sweet or less sauce, can tell the chef put less. . . in Malaysia we all improvise =D. . . . . ENJOY & WELCOME BACK TO MALAYSIA AGAIN ! ! ! !
Usually when I eat ramly burger I don't like putting too much sauce. Just mayonnaise will be fine. The taste of burger patty itself is just delicious enough for me.
The non sweet Ramly burger is at Kampong Bahru. (across the Saloma bridge from Petronas Twin Tower) They use pepper sauce instead of worstershire sauce.
3:33 - That is "otak-otak" Fish meat that has been ground with several types of additional seasonings, then cooked over hot coals. Apart from fish meat, it is also made with other ingredients.
@@StephandPete you are welcome 🤝🏻 For your information, Malaysia will not celebrate the new year 2023 on a large scale because the newly formed government is more concerned with saving and focusing on people's problems such as some states in Malaysia experiencing floods and natural disasters.
Not just workers , People nearby would come over bringing their kids, Thats another reason why the satay dude is wearing spiderman clothing / costume, Sometime kids may not be in mood at such place or crying or annoy people nearby, spiderman would make them sit silently or change their mood 🙂 Not just marketing i guess
I love living in KL it's one of my favorite place to live I always visited here before I got a new job here back in 2020. Super nice people and great food and always something to do and see looks like you enjoyed your time here also.
Ramly burger has become such a food icon in malaysia. I guess you can say Ramly burger is another cheaper, more homemade version of the fast food burger like mcd
You must try all the ramly burger shops on the side of the road because the sauce is different...👍👍👍👍😋😋😋😋😍😍😍My place got island source, black paper,kicap,planta,cili/tomato,...chess,eggs,beef,,😋😋😋😋😍😍😍👍👍👍When I want to save money, I take it (Benjo Burger)😂😋😋😋😋
I'm glad Pete liked the burger haha. In Korea there is also a thing with lots of foods being sweet, especially bread and some western people I meet don't like the sweetness in Bread. I noticed your last couple of videos, have you been using a new camera for your A roll? It feels like it but maybe I'm wrong. Another great video c:
A roll is still my Sony ZV1, but this had a good bit of B roll from my a6000 which I’m more sporadic about it using. Re: sweet stuff- I do not understand the cult following surrounding Isaac toast and I think that’s why.
@@StephandPete Ahhh, maybe it was the Canon. I noticed some scenes where you had a surprisingly shallow depth of field I hadn't noticed much before. Great to know c: I always find it a hastle to switch between cameras so I feel when I buy a big camera at the end of the year, I'll use my pockets less and less as it'll be convenient to just shoot most things on a single versatile camera.
Each Ramly burger vendor puts their own individual spin on it, so every Ramly burger all-over Malaysia is different... Ramly started as a meat supplier for college kids or youths to make extra money...Ramly provides the burgers buns and wrappers to them at a members discount . And it's a very effective economic idea to empower rural youths to be financially independent...Now there's Ramly everywhere in Malaysia and some has made it into a career by owning a few kiosk in the state , in front of their own homes or in front of every 7 eleven. Enjoy your stay in Malaysia
Another wonderful video. My only regret was Hays was 100% absent. Hope this is not a sign to come. Also, glad Pete was right that it wasn't a double burger.
There's 2 vesion of nasi lemak there, the red label and blue label. I prefer the red because it's a bit spicier than the other one. Two different recipes
Next , you just eat "TAUHU SUMBAT "" the fried soy curd cut into half ( triangle shape) and stuffin with vegetables, topping with crushe peanut sauce like "KUAH ROJAK
