From 2:10 is so relatable when you said, "... I need to have my own relationship to the piece in order for me to inhabit it naturally...". As a vocalist, I've always said, "It's difficult for me to sing something that I cannot relate to, feel in my heart, or don't believe in." Queen Hahn, your statement really hit home for me. 😇🏡💚💯 Tysm to both of you, again, for sharing this conversation. Love learning from the shared thoughts & experiences of master musicians. To accept/embrace that you're human too is quite comforting & encouraging. 🥰🥰

I think the hardest part is to actually make something sound like music. I hear some players play the notes and others actually bring out the music from them. Actually saying something when you play is rare. What makes the ‘ greats’ So many people now have immense resources and play way more technical than anyone ever has. But it’s still rare to hear someone make actual music from the notes.

I have the sense that when Ms. Hahn uses the words “easy” and “hard” I would see them on a far different level….
