My theory is the chronicler is stercus. He knows the name of iron, Stercus is the only other character mentioned in the book in conjunction with power involving iron. If he was an arcanist he would have a guilder. We know he’s powerful but he’s always acting scared. The scrail show up the same time as him and one of the dudes that robbed him coincidentally turns into a shadow creature. He say he’s with Scarpy but his whole story could be bogus. Just because he was at the arcanum doesn’t mean he’s not chandrian. PS I think Kvoth knows it. Only a few arcanist in the world know the name of iron
Maybe, but the Chandrian’s are cursed, so those aren’t a listing of their powers. When it says he’s enthralled by iron I’m not sure what that signifies exactly, but I don’t think it means he’s knows the name of iron.
