It's against union rules to use a broom, as that's a laborer tool and we don't want to anger the laborer union. Pretty sure the IBEW has an agreement with the Laborers union outlining the relationship.

Hats off to you sir , that was always my Achilles heel......painting. I didnt like a job where I spent more focusing on what not to do than what to do. Being a little older i may enjoy it abit more. I tried tower crane operating for about a month as I had some time in the seat previously, had a knack for it I was told. But couldn't deal with sitting in a box 12+ hours a day not to mention everyone screaming at you needing picks. Besides the initial climb in the am it's not physically demanding but mentally demanding for sure! You either have the mental fortitude of a psychiatrist or you have to be wacked in the head to do that job. My ADHD did not allow me to make career of it killer money though! TIP: always make friends with the operators/ don't strain use the crane ! 😂

I dont know, our job sight about had a lynching the other day when an asshole drywaller decided to take a power sander to the walls and fill the ENTIRE unventilated building with thick, choking, drywall dust. He came in moving peoples stuff around, closing doors, and didn't say a danged word. Moved one of the AC guys ladders while he was still up in the rafters and turned the machine one and no one knew he was up there until he was gagging and spitting up there. He was wearing a serious respirator and was making people move while he trashed the place and didn't even move any of the fans to blow the dust out. After he made it half way through the building, the super had to yell at him to stop and unplug his sander to get him to stop. He refused to answer anybody telling him to stop using the excuse " no habla". Yeah, he figured out how pissed everyone was after an electrician chucked his gear out the door. Later, speaking perfect English, he complained to the super for being interrupted. If that sob tries another stunt like that, he will be wishing he was back home in Guatemala.

Or my personal favorite insisting they checked it out and it's possible even though the space available isn't big enough to fit a 3/4 inch much less a 2"so then they spend days before okaying a reroute. Painters get all the bad rap. I once had an old man go over the job after we were done. He was legit blind. MF was using a magnifying glass 1/2 inch from the wall and his nose 1 inch from the glass. Took him 3 hours to mark with a pencil anything he didn't like. Which was 6 micro spots from poor drywall finishers. Yeah painters hear all the crap. Have to admit though it was funny to see a helper "drop" a bucket of paint down his stairs to the landing. That was glorious to see him absolutely lose his mind.

As a full time commercial painter, I have to disagree. Yeah we dropped paint here and there, but how many holes do the electricians make in the drywall? How many holes do the plumbers make in the drywall? All after final paint. FFE Destroy the walls in the entry way and every door they come in contact with. And the GC, always thinks we can just repaint it real fast. When you're working for a resort, on a time line that never changes, Paint is one of the most frustrating jobs.

The reason electricians always work in pairs is because one is the doer, and the other is the thinker. Thinker comes up with the plan, and the doer does it. Now, if you get a pair of thinkers, nothing gets done. They just argue over the best way to wire something until its break, lunch, or time to go home. Get 2 doers together, and you'll have a plastic shitter wired for 3ph 480v, and total confusion over why their hands are dyed blue

i am sorry i know it is funny to make fun of electricians, but as a person that went to the union electricians apprentice program, LET ME TELL YOU A FEW THINGS... 1- the amount of math is advanced as in math, calc, algebra, geometry, triganometry, and using all forms of theorums, and LAWS. you almost get a math degree in it. 2- even a small wire being pulled a long distance with several 90s and bends become extremely difficult. 3- you will know what work is when you have 75 people stretched out over 1/4 mile to pull a wire that is 2" diameter and each foot of wire wieghs 50+lbs... and 4- bending pipe is heavy math coupled with doing it right. 5- ALL electricians AND apprentices HAVE to know how to read blue prints and we are REQUIRED to know all symbols for ALL crafts so we do not conflict or mess up others jobs... 6- a lot of jobs require one to be able to map out on thier own a way to run, hang and hook up both pipes, and wires... 7- working on live wires..scary..... 8- building conduit trays, running the wires then having to strap them all down with zip ties, then having to cut the tails off... you have to be EXTREMELY SMART, EXTREMELY FIT, AND EXTREMELY STRONG to be an electrician.. and LINEMEN are even more impressive... so i DARE you to mock a REAL electrician to his face, them boys will destroy you....

I think you are getting construction and manufacturing mixed up. I know it's not a trade skill, but I'm a die-caster and machine operator in an aluminum foundry and we work in any temperature (gets down to 40 degrees Fahrenheit in the winter and up to 120 degrees Fahrenheit in the summer indoors). As for quotas... in a 24hr day at 1 machine (our plant has 15 die-cast machines running at the same time) small castings (10 to 15 lbs) we make 1500 a day, medium castings (20 to 30 lbs) we make 1200 a day, and large castings (60lbs) we make 700 a day and we work all of those casting up by hand before packing and moving them to the machining center. Adding insult to injury the place I work at gave us no time off up until earlier this year. (Like we had to actively use the 13day labor law to get 1 day off work every 2 weeks before we switched to 12hr shifts and we weren't getting double time either since we start working on mondays, but our work week starts on sundays because of managment decisions) I love watching ur stuff, but man this skit got me so triggered that I just had to rant in a comment that you won't read while boosting the algorythm in your favor. 🤣

uggg over spray Hubby parked in the wrong spot (shipyard worker) when they were cleaning up some stuff after the hurricane. His car and 8 others ended up with a light misting from the painters. Obviously they had never painted outdoors and failed to consider the wind. Most of the car owners didn't mind because their beat up trucks and cars could use a drop of paint, but it landed on the windshields. It had 8hrs to bake. You could see to drive but most of them took the time after work to get it off since paint remover was just sitting there. The painters left everything, even the sprayers , right where they were working when it was quitting time. They complained about the cars, nothing came of it (of course) The next time they left their equipment out Hubby's foreman took it all and locked it up. The tool ticket was under the painters' names. If they couldn't find it, if it walked off, then they had to pay for it. He let them stew in their own juices until lunch.

Bro I passed with a finger in my butt. That shit is easy. Definitely explains why we have so many "sparkies" that don't know shit. At my last job we went through FOUR of them in two weeks because they didn't know shit about how DC motor controllers worked but they refuse to do any research on their own. We went through seven $5,000 controllers in the span of 4 days because these retards didn't know how to read a basic electrical schematic.

So easy they can tell me I don't know what I'm doing when I tell them their Neutral CT for the Main in the gear they just installed is bad or the breaker phase CTs are out. It's the same as any ol' GFCI in their panel at home. Of course their Neutral current being equal to their line currents is normal. Isn't a failed ground fault protection system at all. Nope. That 13 grand breaker and 90 grand switchgear line-up is the same as that 20-amp single pole GFCI in their 20 breaker panel box. Yup.

Oh mud daubers are the worse. Filling in electrical boxes. You have to take a hammer and chisel to clean out the switch and out boxes that is if you can even find them. Had one crew of mud daubers fill the boxes in so complete it took days to find all the boxes and we were not 100% that we ever got them all.

Lmao! Painters are the most hated trade. My senior got into it with a bunch of them. We were pulling face plates off the walls and marking them temporarily for a new install of data lines. Pull the plates, set it on the floor next to the old jack. They were numbered to match our print. After lunch, we go in to start roughing lines and the painter scooped them all up and tossed them in a five gal bucket. I thought fists would fly. And after we put in new stuff, they painted over the cover plates and the jacks, gumming them up. Had to replace half of them.
@tankerkiller125
@tankerkiller125 2 года назад
We just got a new building where I work, painters didn't even bother with the faceplates, just left them installed. More than half of all of our data faceplates had to be re-terminated because the holes had been completely filled with paint.
