Thanks again for the support (: I wanted to share this sooner but didnt get a good quality of my performance till last week! Please help me share my act with the world
@@pawanalur773 No it was at 1:36 if you watch it in .25 speed you can see he took a card that wasnt the top card from the deck to make it look like it it changed from red to blue. That was the ONLY one I caught LOL... but now that you say it I can see its a tear away vest, I dunno how I didnt catch that before :) this was still incredible!
Too many modern magicians are no longer familiar with the methods used in Eric's performance. I often hear them at conventions say these methods are too "old school and obsolete." Well, gentlemen, you are watching the methods often employed by past masters, but updated so beautifully by a modern master who seems to fully understand that magic is NOT about the methods and technicalities. Magic is about the performance. This performance is more than a magician doing a simple trick. It is a beautiful story eloquently told without actually speaking a single word. Yes, there are parts of this routine that require some great skill, but those skills are invisible due to their being woven seamlessly into the story. Every action seems to have a reason and that makes this magical performance even more magical. This performance should go down in history as one of magic's best performances of all time. If magicians would study this as a brilliant lesson in developing their performances magic would soon, and finally, be viewed as one of the great performing arts instead of weird variety type of entertainment it is seen as today. This is an example of magical theater at its best. Well done, Eric. You have my highest respect.
@@ishotbambismum6105 No, if Eric had conjured up a demon in order for him to perform this beautiful effect then it would not have taken him countless hours of practicing sleight of hand in front of a mirror and video. Demon powered black magick doesn't require those long hours of practice to create an illusion that looks like real magic. Eric would probably be the first to admit that it is all just a trick, a well-rehearsed series of moves and techniques designed to create the illusion of real magic being performed. It is purely entertainment based on purely natural means. There is nothing occult or satanic about this performance. This is a technically skilled individual with superior performance skills. If you believed it looked like a supernatural event instead of a sleight of hand performance then, you just paid this magician the highest of compliments on his brilliant performance. As a former professional magician (entertainer, not black magick), creator of magic props, and a magic consultant, yes, Eric did earn my highest respects with his performance. It was simply brilliant!
The only magicians who say "Eeeh old tricks" are party magicians, who rely on their tricks to woo people. Real magicians don't just play with their cards, they put up a show.
I just feel like this was almost perfect, but he could’ve utilized the gimmick table (not the black art part, the other part which I won’t expose the secret of) with somthing similar to his “impossible assembly video”
Are you kidding? slowing the video reveals just about everything he does. you can clearly see how he deals card underneath the top-card with his fingers underneath, how the outerlayer of his shirt is ripped down when it changes colour, and even see his slight of hand when he pushes cards down the table and everything. Only the appearance and disappearance of the squares is not visible. But thats only because its faster than the camera, if it was better you would simply see the squares, coins and cards disappear into cracks in the table. He certainly is very good but there is nothing new about his tricks and slight of hands, so if you have any idea what to look for everything is quite clearly visible if the video is slowed down.
Go to 5:40. Watch in 1080 at .25 speed and tell me again there there was no blur and belnding added in post processing to conceal the rectangular ribbons as they retracted into their slots. If you watch at other critical moments you will see the same thing. That being said, to perform this live is a feat. Eric is a true master. Unfortunately RU-vid has made it orders of magnitude more difficult to be perfect. I'm not sure how I feel about post processing video that was taken of a live performance. Why seek mastery and perfection if you can just conceal defects with video post processing?
@@jameslederer7613 My comment is for those who think the trick works with video editing. I totally agree that their is post processing, but: This trick works perfectly live, and with naked eyes video editing doesn't make any differences. But their are people who watch that frame for frame to figure out the secrets and for those is the post processing. So it's just to hide the secrets for people who watch it frame for frame, but it does not work with video editing, how some people believe. Edit: Sorry if there are spelling mistakes, I am Austrian.
Got reminded of this again. This is probably (if not definitely) the most impressive magic routine I have ever seen in my entire life. Honestly beyond impressive. I am completely thrown every single time I watch this. Just incredible
Also got reminded of this just now after at least a year of not seeing it, and I am in total agreement with you. If anything, I find it even more insane now than when I first watched it 5 years ago, could you believe it.
Pretty easy to see what he does. He lifts the ribbon and summons the demon Belial to transmute the cards into coins and back. He simply presents his offering backstage and the objects turn back to normal. He'll only be able to do this trick a limited number of times before he runs out of conjurings.
Lol saw your Penn and teller act. I don't think I'll ever forget you, or atleast always remember you through out my life when someone mentions coin magic
Like Dusty Rhodes used to say "You have IT, you couldn't get rid of IT if you tried, you couldn't sell IT, you couldn't throw IT away, you have IT!!!" (Paraphrasing) that is Eric Chien.
I’ve seen Eric’s act live three times. Twice in FISM Korea and once in TAA Hong Kong. I can finally watch this on repeat. Thank you for such a beautiful act, Eric!
I adore this act, not just for the illusion, but the presentation, how he seems just as curious about how it works as we are, how he demonstrates the "rules" one at a time, and how each change appears to be as much a revelation for him as for us. Top notch showmanship, a well deserved win :)
I discovered this Video a Moment ago . I got Goosebumps all over me and a big big Smile in my Face . Last time i got such a feeling around my Heart was the Time when my Son was born . Thank you so much . Dare to Dream . Keep going . I want more . Magic .
wow this is so beautifully and MAGICALLY done, just the storytelling and skill alone. so amazing. i see it as a kid who finds a magic box, learns what it can do, then tries to turn it into profit, and because of this *sin* it is taken away from him. really amazing and hope to see more from you. thanks for this gift. :)
Hello Eric, I truly hope you are not hurt by how you were judged at the SBS magic star competition. The judges there today were definitely substandard in the way they evaluated your fantastic performance. They simply were not worth sitting there judging you. To hell with collaboration as well. Please visit korea again only to let us see you at your own magic show. Thank you so much for letting me wow and enjoy your amazing performance on tv. I wished I was there. Sincerely,
This is what Penn and Teller (well, Penn in particular, since Teller doesn't say much 🤣) would call a complete performance. The routine builds layer by layer, telling a story, and then those layers are broken down until at the end you're back where you started. Amazing.
I love how crazy the crowds went like they were seeing a trailer at Comic-con. This is why I love the magic community, because we love what we do and go crazy for the people who are exceptional at it. This was amazing dude, well done.
I love how my mind is trying to figure out what is going on but I am just enjoying these videos so much that I never wanna truly know how they are done
I don’t want to pick favorites. Shin lim is a wonderful magician. Eric and shin brought back that aww in magic the world hasn’t felt in a long time. Both have very fresh ideas That magic desperately needed. Both routines on tv were so wonderful the time and dedication really pays off. When eric did the coin into a card and the disappearing coin I felt that aww in magic I haven’t felt in a really long. Keep up the great work.
At first I thought that the same thing could only be done with a camera and fake viewers. But in the end I realized that it was done in front of a lot of real people. Incredible. Bravo and long life to the artist!!
Update: just got done watching for the first time and holy balls! Everything from the sleights, to the visuals, the music, the story, EVERYTHING was un-freaking-believable! Definitely deserved that award and more!
@@@leeresglas5115 you don't know that. The ending doesn't fit (camera, quality), the crowd noises can be added to the thing to be more believable. This "magic" has been already covered here ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-_dSp_f0f9gE.html&
How all people complaining about "Taiwan, not China" and try to figure out how it's done. That's not was magic is about. It's about being amazed and amaze other people by showing your talent and the thing you achieved by working hard on it. And this was an amazing *live* performance. Very well done. It fascinates me in so many ways.
Ive watch this performance a thousand times and its still not enough If you blink you will miss the best part The closer you look the less you see Eric chien Thank you so Much for inspiring me
knowing EXACTLY how every trick was performed (an Italian magician explained them all) I get the more dumbstruck from your confidence and ease in performing them and your constant control of the black cards and misdirections. This , sir , was art in his most magical form.
Even if you know every Trick! Out of this Performance... It's even then... F*cking AMAZING! You did it so clean! Even if i go on slowmo, and watch every Problem zone of them, you won't Find any! It's Art to have so much Perfection, and this on Hard Tricks like this! I am happy, to life in Times like this, where people Like you Shows how Amazing magic can be! So, thank you for this Master Piece!
Nick Nguyen I knew him before America’s Got Talent. I saw and voted for him for Asia’s Got Talent and so happy he won. Hope he wins America’s Got Talent too!
The amazing of the performance is that it relies not on the usual courtains or hiding devices. Everything seems changing under your eyes. Fourth time I watch it and only for the enjoyment. Well done Eric.
You used common sleights to create a true masterpiece. The mind that created this routine and the hands that performed each sleight flawlessly deserve the reward.
After many viewings, I can see a few things, but most of it is so clean that I have no idea how it was done. Beautifully crafted and choreographed. This was a joy to watch.
Watched it again after 3 years. Still amazing. Have seen several of your following acts. All great. This ribbon magic is still my favorite. I love how you are not doing any of the magic. The ribbon is doing it all. Then some God of Magic takes it all away at the end. Still trying to figure out how you change your vest twice. It seems like it should be so simple, yet the change is immediate and seamless. Cannot see it done. Amazing. In this world of stop and replay, to have it work even on video is impossible to comprehend. You are the savant of Magic.
I don't usually watch magic tricks or performance but this... is AMAZING! It seems like magic exist in real life! Good job Eric, thanks for sharing this! FROM ITALY, THANKS!
0:34 clicking back and forth between frames. Frame 1: No rectangles. Frame 2: Rectangles I've spent the last half hour yelling at my computer to "Zoom in! Enhance!" and I still got nothin'.
You are the TRUE meaning of magic .... MAGIC ... MAGIC MAGIC ... you are the best i've ever seen and you deserve to win AGT with no questions. ... please keep up the good work !
I think I have to be hallucinating... That was incredible, and I'm a HUGE Shin Lim fan and didn't think I could be impressed anymore... Absolutely AMAZING Eric... You have a gift...
As I watch this incredible performance my natural curiosity is screaming to know how he pulled off those fantastic tricks. Frankly it would be insulting to attempt to explain what I have seen only moments earlier when Eric has spent years perfecting these wonderful illusions. I salute you Sir, masterful.
Watch his left hand, it goes to his waist to pull the black vest off while the diversion is created by his right arm diving across the table. Understanding it though doesn't make it any less impressive.
I watched this before already and just re-watched it again because Digg sent me here. This routine is utterly beautiful. It's like "S" Tier level, like it would've been a Copperfiled trick if he had a chance to own the rights to it. I'd love to see the routines of all the winners of FISM, but I have a feeling that this routine is going to be one of the top ones. Eric Chien, you definitely are going to remembered as on the of the greatest for creating and performing this.
@Skettles It's pretty easy, examine the crimp in the rectangles and consider why they are there. Obviously, because they were folded at one time. Do they not appear to be attached to the material they lie on? So the material was therefore folded, concealing them. Now you have already figured it out, except the transitions are impossibly invisible...because the video has been retouched, which is why 'it took some time to get a proper version for upload' from the performer's mouth. The mechanism of effect of the rectangle reveal/dissappear is basically the same as the ribbon cut. These are the two big effects of the routine, and gimmicks of the table, and they have both been digitally retouched to conceal the gimmicks of the table.
WHOAAAAAA!! You performed to us a few hours ago, but I had to leave early because I was in drama club so I didn’t get to see it in person😭 Yeaay I found this video at least 😛 how do you even do thatttttt it’s so magicalll. Once a shark, always a shark! 🦈☺️
Soundtrack please? Your video is perfect, your magic is perfect, so much dedication, good job and keep grow up, don't stop dreaming, try to touch the sky and you will be happy with this adventure
Honestly, my favorite part of his act is his style. Many big name magicians over the decades have been all about pizzaz and panache… Big effects, wide, grand gestures and a very enormous stage personality. Eric reins it all in and gives you the feeling that he’s in the audience with you, experiencing all this wonder instead of standing on a stage performing for you. I think he and Sacred Riana are refreshing additions to magic as they take the act in a brand new direction that makes us feel like we are seeing it for the first time again.
