I love Eric as a communicator. I love that he challenges you to rethink some of the norms we have etched in stone in terms of splits. In terms of performance I totally see how beneficial distributing things in a “full body” way can minimize over fatigue from session to session. I have to say I still love an upper/lower-esk approach, but what Eric says definitely has helped me rethink or get over some of the fear of “recovery” issues. But in all honesty shuffling movements a bit even on an upper lower style split can really help even things out. Like he said who cares if you throw lateral raises on a lower day or even other upper isolation or put calves on upper day. So even employing some of the technique is great. Especially not being a high level athlete like Eric who needs 20 sets across his upper muscles to progress.

If I’m describing this to someone, I usually call it “Upper/Lower, and [insert small lagging muscle group] everyday.” If I need to be even more succinct than that, then I call it “splitless” or “split-free.” Edit: Spelling

It’s true. Upper/Lower is the base of every good program, even full body programs often have an alternating upper lower focus
