De Lorenzo's Tomato Pie, a Trenton landmark for more than 60 years, plans to shut its pizza oven doors for good on January 15th. Known and beloved for its famous tomato pie, family atmosphere and neighborhood location, owners Gary and Eileen Amico have decided to retire. (Video by Mike Roy / The Star-Ledger)

Some of the Best Pizza I ever Had. My God it was eating a piece of Heaven. Me and my buddies used to drive from Levittown, PA... just to get a Large Tomato Pie on the Weekends. Stood in line for what seemed like hours. But it was worth it.

I just found out about DeLorenzo's closing the original store last week. It was like finding out my favorite all time movie will never be shown again, and I will have only the memories to fall back on. Thank God, their son has the other, newer store, in Robbinsville. My dad first took me to DeLorenzo's on Hudson St. back in 1977. My favorite all time Pie is (no Cheese) Garlic, Oregano, Sausage & Anchovy. (Gary's own favorite)

All these years later and it still hurts my heart watching this and seeing the old Hudson st. Place. Our family had the Hudson Gardens and the beauty shop down the street. Every Friday we had Delos!!!

I went to school with Gary Jr. #4. I lived exactly 8 blocks away from DeLorenzo's and grew up on there pies. I know where they are in Robbinsville and pies are still the best. We were just there a few weeks ago. Sending my Love Gary and to your family. Oh and they took the sign with them :) :)

The best Tomato pies. EVER. Impossible to replace. Family and friends had 20+ years of fantastic pies and family atmosphere. Mow when visiting NJ we head to Washington Twnshp/Robbinsville for the next best pies.

It was weird, when they opened the Robbinsville location it was easier to get into Hudson St. which was good. Too bad it was the Swan song. Sad to see Eileen as she passed away since too soon.

I grew up in Union City, NJ, and for me, Barry's Pizzeria was my favorite...

DeLorenzo's will be greatly missed by many folks from near and far. I am sad to say that I didn't get one last chance to stop in for a tomato pie this past weekend but i'll have to check out Gary and Eileen's sons place in Robbinsville. Sure, the Amico's deserve a break (retirement) but it's a crying shame what has become of Trenton and basically the fact that businesses are being driven from this once great town.

The bigger crying is shame is the abandonment of the Italian American neighborhood which COULD have survived had people been a little smarter with leaving the homes in good condition to their descendants but that is another issue; shame they can’t find trustworthy people (who speak English) to operate it and the family just oversee operations but I guess dreaming ...shame will be missed

Two famous (and amazing) pizza joints are worth mentioning that refused to leave their locations which went downhill. Wells Brothers of Racine WI is 100 years old. The neighborhood has been pretty rough for years. They have a cop guarding the parking lot every day. They aren't moving. The original Buddy's Pizza in Detroit remains in the ghetto with a fenced in parking lot that is guarded. Are both worth the drive into those areas? In my opinion - yes. But it's understandable to be concerned as well.

I've eaten at Hudson street and the new place in Robbinsville. They are both great. I'll miss the one in the Burg, but I can understand why they closed it. That area is very dangerous and run down now. Shame used to be a great German, Irish, Italian and Polish area.

The reason they left is because of infaltration I live in the burg 5 minutes walking distance 40 years ago delorenzos was the place to go best pie around hands down but with all the stabbings and shootings a place has become dump no wonder they moved out to Robbinsville the further the better
