The only guy who gets Se / Ni dynamic and how to use it. The personality pages (all written by intuitives?) all treat inferior Ni as some boogie man. For a smart/creative ESTP it's like a multi-tool or swiss army in your pocket. Gather data Se/Analyze Ti/Solution Ni. Boom.
not just that mate i stop people from getting convinced by me!! i just don't like me being that convincing i want to see whats real and whats right not just how i see things so its becomes right and fair
Drew J I'm with you, man Dave's examples are funny and memorable (which is helpful) but often either vague or stereotypical. More specific examples would be great
@Green Chicken I crashed mine last summer (not my first) and everyone was like "You're going to stop riding right?" My response was "Hell no, I'm going ride until die." lol
I've been observing these types for some time. One thing about the E--P type that really struck me was that fear of control often leads to a defence mechanism of needing certain control over others. What's your take on this? Like, they are soo afraid that they are being controlled, especially the E-TPs, that they will control people in their close relationships, like family, co-workers or spouses, just to make sure they themselves are free. My best friend is an E--P and she is certainly obsessively controlling her boyfriend, although in her mind, she is "taking care of" him (buying clothes for him, calling him over to help with something, needing him around for anything). It sounds lovely but from an outsiders perspective, it looks almost like controlling. Then I began wondering if all the types pushes our fears onto others. I'm an INFP and I fear the tribe will reject my personal values. But don't I do the same exact thing? I fear the tribe will reject me, so I reject them. Not sure how it applies to other types, it's just an observation I had.
Hmm, yeah, Father and Boyfriend's Father both seem to be EXXPs controlling my dating relationship, because really my life is so difficult, and needlessly so... So, very much so much interference in my relationship, that it isn't fair or fun, and I just want to be left alone with my boyfriend already, urghh ! ~
Anders Hagvall You hate thinking about the future? That’s pretty much all I do. Not thinking about and manipulating the future is like wandering through life blind.
Tekuila I would consider never taking everything around you in "blind" living. Why do you find it necessary to talk down others' thought processes that are different from yours?
Black Rabbit I'm not talking down at all, you're simply choosing to take it that way. That being said, not planning for your future is effectively living life blind. Aka: Winging it.
Eunhye I think you took me too literally and of course other people’s views are valid. I just wish my way of seeing was considered valid instead of brushed off. Being an Ni dom is so frustrating sometimes.
My bf is an ESTP and he he hates any kind of restrictions on his behavior or feeling forced to do anything. I think that's what he means by control in the video. It sounds arrogant, but everything in his life is all about him, how he feels and what he wants. As an INFJ, I am the same way, just not to the extent that he is.
My husband is like that, says "you never know we might die tomorrow" when I tell him "next week let's...". Other times he say "let's pack our bags and go to...".
This makes a lot of sense. I must be a TI dominant ESTP. I literally got stressed out when this guy said going over known information. I hate boring. I need action.
Infj married to a estp lol were best friends but when its great its great and when its bad...hell breaks loose but after 10 plus years together we have both helped each other with our demon functions and thus are better individuals for it.
Interesting! I (ESTP) am married to an INFJ and I never felt the loss of control and having the need for the Ni demon to step in. Maybe because my INFJ partner helps me cope with that more than I relealize.
I admire how every personality type has their strengths and kinds of skillsets and it’s not just the INXXs who’re praised as special “big brain bois” who are the most capable in terms of abstraction, but I can see how a genius can have the cognitive style of an ESTP or an ISFJ that uses different ways of solving problems their own way!
uh every type comes with their pros and cons. the only people who you will ever see on mbti sites are literally all inxx including myself, you seem like your just fed up with only hearing the same types again and again. just in case you didn't know the world is literally 75% made of sensors and around 25% intuitives, with less than 9% of inxxs. inxxs subcounsiosly are finding ways to adapt themselves to be dominated by an Se world, we don't actually realize this until we stumble across a lil mbti test on the internet. this sounds dumb but it's very much true tho.
OHHHHH! when you said we have to start categorising and you will feel sick and bored. YES YES YES. YOU STOLE MY THOUGHTS. :((((((( my desk is a mess of information. That is why being a classical pianist was the best job. Constant new info going in when learning a piece of music. It would never end.
Isfj here. I have an estp mom and I try to do new hobbies to develop my Ne but she is sooo controlling that I have to fight with her every time I want to do something. That’s why I lie and hide a lot of things from her because I don’t want to have an argument.
oh crud I'm not afraid of not knowing myself (inferior Fi - ESTJ) I'm afraid of controlling anything other than myself, or organizing information. so I'm not ESTJ, I'm ESTP, I had it all wrong, guess I was really confused
OK, this makes sense to me. There are many ESTPs in my world and one looked odd to me. I thought I mistyped him but after this video I concluded he’s Se-Fe and the others, including myself, Se-Ti.
It's also common to see a difference between expressive and feely INFJs, versus real serious, smart, and quiet INFJs. That's one thing that used to confuse me.
1:12 That's interesting, I've noticed that Si types aren't scared of Se chaos necessarily, because they prefer to test it out in reality and make sure it's verified. So they'll go out and try a bunch of new shit, because assuming it wouldn't work is disrespectful to sensory, even if they're stepping outside of their IxxJ box. One of the biggest complaints from my savior Si parent is that I just assume shit won't work and I don't try new stuff, and if I do, I don't stick through the whole thing because I just assume that it won't go anywhere. It's weird because she is so organized and rigid and doesn't like chaos, but isn't afraid to try new stuff and verify her options, because she feels she must do so (cuz sensory lol). For me (savior intuitive, Ne or Ni I have no idea), trying new stuff doesn't 'scare me' because it's chaotic and 'new', but wasting time trying to verify an entire activity through the whole thing is torture, like, I can see and guess that I'm not going to enjoy this, why would I stick with the entire thing when I can see that this will be of no use to me in the future? But nope, apparently I MUST do the entire thing even though I already know it's not going to work, according to the fuckin savory sensory lmao.
Maybe you're able to take in meaning of these abstractions very flexibly, and apply them in some way to yourself? In my experience, having a confident idea of my type does nothing fruitful for me in reality. I've found more purpose in solidifying my understanding for each function individually (i.e. each in contrast to one another). After a while, my understanding of functions comes to mind naturally in application to challenges I find myself facing. In other words, the values/reasons I've learned for myself in understanding Cognitive Functions is in using them as a tool-set for real life.
That was very helpful, applying to postgrad studies i made 15 applications, got 14 accepted... i was freaking out so much about having to reject 13 offers... so i started asking previous students what their experiences were, went through the course descriptions hundreds of times ^^
ESTP translates to choleric dominant who is most controlling of the four described by Hippocrates ESTP has a phlegmatic secondary which is the least controlling of the four so with most controlling and least controlling as dominant and secondary ,this dynamic difference is always in the face of the ESTP
Nah. It just means they think and think about how life should be lived and how everything will play out but never really do anything because they are too busy entertaining thought.
I find that there are some motivational fear to avoid using that Ni-dom too much because it often leads to abstract chaos. There NEEDS to be a stable Se foundation to stand on else it's ineffective as fuck all this Ni shit and just lead to chaos like I mentioned. "You need to open your eyes and come out to the real world" my mother always told me when I was little, how ugly it was.
having a Ni-dom, as I do, makes me double check my career path every time, I question myself if am I going to be happy if I pursue this or that, can I help others by sharing my skills. It sucks to look into the future and not practicing what is needed now. i sound like an unhealthy type haha,
I really value how you explain balancing oneself - explaining is one thing but elaborating is another - well done, thank you! From an INFP mom with an ESTP adult daughter who’s amazing but this is what I elaborate to her and now I have something back it up lol ima be like see 🤪 but sending her INFP to do the same 🤣
I'm confused because in some videos y'all talk about ExxPs being obsessed with organizing and control because everyone is obsessed with their demon etc etc and sometimes like in this video you say ExxPs hate control and don't want to do it. I'm just trying to figure out my type for sure (I'm pretty sure I'm an ENTP jumper, or maybe ESTP jumper) but when your videos contradict each other I get confused all over again. I'm probably just missing something :/
I believe that when they say EPs are obsessed with organizing is like, when they are, let's say talking with their friends, and keep saying i need to organize this, i need to control this, everything is a mess etc. Like they will complain about why they need to use their demon, but when it is time to do so they just dont. So it looks as if they are obsessed with organise, when in fact they are just kinda peacocking.
It's their attempt at finding their subjectively, rationalized reality and place in the social world. They always feel awkward...their projections manifest through pretending that they "know whats truly going on" many times via trolling. INTPs experiment a lot with drugs to experience reality in different ways.
I was sceptical about this making me INTP cause it makes no sense. If most INTPs do that then it probably meas that i am but we can't know this for sure since behavior shouldn't be something that determines the type you are. It's functions. But functions can have a wide range of behavioral manifestations , that's why you can see scepticism. But you take it as a proof of Fi inability to make logical conclusions and only doing things cause i "like" them. And i already watched ISTP video , am i automatically INTP cause i did that?
INTP fears are that you don't like to have to please people, or to do things in the way that everyone expects them to be done. Physical organization and practicality in general can also be a problem.
It's like this: There's this, there's that... But what is the connection between these things?Focus on the why. For example: I go home, I play video games,I sleep,I wake up late,I go to school, didn't do homework, get yelled, get frustrated, come home, play video games... What you can do is first write every action you do in a day,a week,a month. Next you write the reason for every action. I play video games because I'm frustrated,I'm frustrated because I got yelled at,I got yelled at because I was late and didn't do homework,I didn't do homework because I was playing videogames... When you know the reason, you know the root cause of your action. You have organized the SE into NI. The factual reality into an organized system in your mind.
This made me wonder if having double activated Ni means that my tribe demon is a bigger issue for me than my Ni demon, because I relate a little bit, but it didn't make me go, "Yes, that's so me!!!!"
Now I'm not the one to make a definitive judgement on this, but I'd say it depends on the person. Everyone's got habits. Avoiding your tribe demon may be a bigger, or more obvious, relatable habit than avoiding the other demon. If you're someone who is really into using the identity saviour function and avoiding the other one due to how your life is going, while you're not having to worry about the last functions matters that much, sure thing. Sounds plausible, doesn't it?
I would say for me it depends on the situation if I behave Se-Ti or Se-Fe. When it comes to close family or friends it is Se-Fe. Everybody else it’s Se-Ti (unless I have something to gain or to lose based on how they feel, but I guess that counts as Ti). Would I be Se-Ti or Se-Fe in this case? [Later Edit]: Never mind, finished watching the video. Things are clear now.
I have an ESTP brother-in-law. My brother and I are INxJs. The ESTP in-law "steals" the patterns my brother and I see and talk about, then at social functions he talks to others (I overhear him) about our various pattern statement/hypothesis/theory and gives the impression they are his own, but he just doesn't understand the most important variables that my brother and I would use to point out as evidence to support our statement/hypothesis/theory...so my bro-in-law sounds awkward and gives incomplete ideas. I laugh inside when he tries to steal our ideas.
Im an ESTP with an INFJ mom. It's very easy to "steal" Ni ideas because we don't like to spend time in Ni so I find I can quite often, not even consciously, take her ideas and present them as my own, simply because I thought about that idea for a second and did the least amount of scary Ni work possible to have some Ni grounding.
@@redhotsizzle2121 that is why shadow type work. And if INFJ and ESTP work nicely way infj make idea and estp do it in real life can be intimidating + scary. I feel like that when trying giving an option for my mother since she are politican and when many all her idea people dont like it. She using my idea and booom you can image what happen next
*The way this guy talks, and his voice inflections and tone, leads me to believe he has a deep loathing for ESTP's and is not here to merely educate in an unbiased way, but instead, to push his own agendas and PERSONAL views on this topic.*
@@FatalBlow113 Dave is an INTJ (MF NiFi SB/P(C) in OPS) and Shan is an ENTJ (FM TeSe PC/S(B) in OPS). Both are jumpers, so they prefer their third function over their second. They often remark that everyone is biased because we can only experience and interpret the world through the lenses of our own functions. But given this inherent limitation, I think they do a good job of acknowledging the strengths, weaknesses, and blind spots of all types. They are always talking about how Ni doms can be ungrounded control freaks and Te doms can be insecure bullies (those are their own types). There are also tons of interviews of Dave and Shan on other people’s RU-vid channels if you are interested in observing how they act with other types and in videos they didn’t personally produce.
ESTP doesn't gather patterns, they gather facts in reality. Experiences, realities, etc. Their problem is that they don't figure out a way to narrow those experiences down conceptually (Ni). They just want more and more stuff to gather, meanwhile in the background, their future is falling apart, they can't narrow those experiences down conceptually, and their whole life comes crashing in because they have too much going on.
@@markqq4487 As an ENTP, my ENFJ younger brother always criticize me for being too abstract and (seemingly) genius but when it comes to execution and actually doing it, I'm like "nah I prefer concepts and don't ever ask me if when I should do/act it". He's a great guy who always try new things and isn't afraid of doing it himself.
I hate this video because it's true. I do have a problem with hoarding new data and not taking time to sort it out. Yes i'm currently dealing with that tyvm.
Is wired really at a earlier age no matter how many tests I took I was always entj, but after awhile it changed to Estj or estp I’m really 50 50 So idk wtf is going on anymore... I’m no longer a intuitive thinker but protecting vs judging is a hard one I have traits of both
@@adayinthelife359 I used to work with one (ESTP)too and he lied about everything. Even little things that weren’t even a big deal. But with his lying, he was very skilled at manipulating everything and everyone around him.
Clicked this cuz I was bored and also because it has the type that was given to me. I didn't expect to be called out like that, you just earned yourself a dislike brother 🎉 Jk! Nice vid
@@swampy2008 where do you find the J in Trump's personality? One of his favorite quotes is "always keep your options open" and his main business strategy is finding opportunities... Sounds pretty P to me
@@majorbob7211 I'm sort of new to mbti, I think cs Joseph's channel's got the right approach in his "how to personality type anyone" which uses a simple grid rather than flawed tests. Check his channel out if youre interested in mbti and the innovative approach. He did a whole 1hr video with others on typing trump and he disagrees with estp.
@@swampy2008 You're right. I've just watched the video of C's Joseph about Trump, awesome stuf... He changed my opinion about Trump's type. Seems like he's either ENTJ or ESTP with enneagram8. I type him as ESTP by combining MBTI with eneagram but by only using MBTI... ENTJ makes more sense. I still have a lot to learn about MBTI. Thanks
"50 Percent of ESTJs have Ne as their secondary function" "50 Percent of ESTPs have Fe as their secondary function" Does that mean that their are subtypes with their 3rd function second?
It just comes from the idea that if you're an extrovert, than there's a good chance you're going to relate to your extroverted function more than your introverted function. So Se-Fe for ESTP's is likely. Much like how INFJ's can lean more towards their Ti than their Fe. Essentially, an Introvert would enjoy more introverted functions because introvert.
It's called a Dominant-Tertiary Loop. Dave didn't invent the idea. But he did invent the idea that it includes such a large percentage of people. Prior to Dave, people referred to it as a psychological imbalance.
