The MCU expands its mythology and universe by going back to the beginning....of Earths' history. Here's my review of Marvel Studios' ETERNALS! #Eternals
"faithful adaptations" I'm split with those because sure it's nice to have those but when you're making a movie or a show you need to change things or cut them, not everything can transfer over smoothly. On the other hand it's really annoying when an easy fix could have easily been used if they just followed the source
What a joke. The original Eternals by Jack Kirby is something else and everything I am seeing and hearing about this is pointing to this NOT being the Kirby-verse experience I was hoping for. What a major disappointment and a massive lost opportunity if it isn't.
The sell isn't Chris Pratt (although maybe that was the intention). The sell is that almost every single actor picked for that movie seems out of left field.
Thats true actually I still look for Chris bale , Benedict Cumberbatch, Chris Hemsworth ,hela actress ,Denzel Washington, jake Gyllenhaal and many other actors movies
Makkari is easily the best speedster I’ve ever seen in a movie or tv show, the slow mo scenes are overdone now so seeing someone run in real time and having big impact with their hits was so good to see, it’s a shame she’s probably the character we are the least likely to get more of. The deviant plot was a bit shit though, guy didn’t even have a name and wanted the same thing as the eternals in the end but Angelina Jolie ended the plot in about 2 seconds
Which struck me as kinda weird because he could heal himself before he morphed into final form. So y didn’t he just heal himself after being diced by Athena??
I swear every comment I see says “I must be one of the few who loved it” haha.. I honestly feel like I’m in the few who agrees with the critics. The concepts were interesting, but the pacing was a total mess. Every other scene they seemed to add some new random subplot, and none of the payoffs felt like they had any weight since there was hardly any build. Spoiler: One example, what even was the point of the lead deviant? He gained a higher intelligence, had the ability to absorb the eternals powers, then just died. We already knew the celestials were ruthless, so he didn’t really add anything. There was already too much going on with so many characters, it would’ve been better to just not include it.
im surprised so many people in these comments are in love with the movie. i thought it sucked. so far only thing worth a damn in phase 4 has been wanda vision, loki, shang chi, no way home, hawkeye kind of and thats about it i think. id say dr strange movie will be unreal
Yes he did, even when the strongest eternal in the scene where he killed ajak by throwing her to the deviants, she even asked “why not just kill the deviants“ they were a distraction the whole time cause he knew the eternals would try to stop the celestials from blowing up the planet
This needed to be a tv series. Amazing Characters, great concepts, a twist that I legitimately didn't see coming... But some of the WORST pacing I've seen in a movie. Really shitty execution all around tbh. Also remember how Kingo just leaves for the climax, essentially betraying everyone, then comes back in the epilogue like everything is good? Fuck that guy
rule number 1 in EVERY movie with Angelina Jolie: she CANNOT be hurt or have any flaws, AJ's characters MIUST be Mary Sues. They tried to make her vulnerable and she even lost a fight to a guy--which is a NONO!! So to make up for it she gest to kill the baddie for reasons. End of story
This plot should have been Eternals 2. Eternals 1 should have been their first battle with the deviants. There was so much going on and I could have felt so much more if I'd gotten to spend more time with the characters.
That's probably the biggest thing that will make you either love or hate the film. It's got a lot of concepts, characters and story to tell in 2.5 hours. Some of it works and some of it misses.
Same here I liked the characters and thought if we had one movie with them beforehand rather than lots of flashbacks it'd help get more attached to the characters' relationships and pretty much the main plot of this movie. Also, would've liked if that pace was picked up by dropping some of the flashbacks.
My first thought was that Mantis could have solved this problem easily. My second thought was I guess those undersea earthquakes they talked about in Endgame aren’t about Namor after all. My third thought was Robb Stark and Jon Snow somehow both fell in love with a woman named Sersi.
I quite liked Eternals. I held off watching it until it was streamed. I had no issue with characterization, I think characters were balanced really well. The high concepts were great to think about too. And Ikarus' inability to kill Cersi made sense to me. He realized he loved her like she loved the people of earth. He felt empathy and that's why he flew into the sun. I like it. I mean, it's a superhero flick, not a Scorsese movie.
I just came back from watching this movie, and I feel like I'm one of the few that actually loved this movie. I like all the characters and their dynamics and inter-conflicts with each other. I thought the action was really interesting compared to other MCU movies, since like Civil War, we have multiple superheros with unique powers from each other, going at it. The story, while nothing super unique still brought up a lot of interesting questions. I enjoy this movie way more than a lot of the movies in the MCU so far.
It’s funny, I loved Civil War, but I said to a friend in the theater “this is a better Civil War than Civil War”. The characters and their reactions to each other and how they connected is what made this whole thing riveting and golden.
"So afraid to go its own direction" is the problem with the MCU formula with a lot of films. That's why the ones that do stand out as extremely as they do.
Bit hard to do that though, the MCU "Endgame" is known now. Everything is going to be a bit 'held back' in this current MCU arc, because they're doing the big build up again, where everything falls into each other for a big huge finale. I wonder how well all this continuity stuff will hold up this time, because when Infinity War/Endgame happened, people rejoiced because of how well everything all tied into each other, people haven't seen that before over such a huge collection of movies. Now they have, and they know where it's going now, it will be interesting to see how it's all received.
@@emmanuelaguado9740 yeah, winter soldier was still definitely a marvel movie but it didn't fall into a lot of mcu-isms that I find annoying. which is great because I really like that storyline and the winter soldier himself. I really wish black widow had been more like it, hell I think winter soldier was probably her best movie.
They play it way to safe because Disney is their management. I just hope Deadpool 3 would be the first MCU movie that doesn't go with the typical "MCU formula" cuz it's their very first R Rated movie and they better not screwed it up
B.T. Henry has really impressed me over the last few years with his range. His comedic ability between this and Atlanta has been a masterclass in subtle, REAL humor. I love it.
It has to do with the mythological character Kingo is based on, kingu who is like a general / right hand man to tiamut, and in mythology kingu flees during the battle in which tiamut dies. All of their names are inspired by mythological figures and those figures stories greatly shape the plot and the character decisions of the movie.
nobody said for black widow and many more, go watch those videos, for once marvel let director do whatever they want and now you saying they say this all the time!!! like wtf, jsut straight up lies!! amrvel took big swings with wandavision, loki, shang chi and eternals, some of them landed some of them did not!!
Funny you felt the dc similarities….cause Jack Kirby created both the Eternals AND the New Gods from DC. As it stands, it appears that the New Gods are more popular amongst comic book readers (partly because there are more comics about them).
Plus I do think it strongly helps, at least speaking as a kid of the 90s/2000s, the Bruce Timm DC universe clearly explains and sets up who they are and why Darkseid is their enemy. It wasn’t Superman defeats Darkseid and the New Gods come out of nowhere.
I've seen a lot of people torn on this movie, here's my thoughts: it wasn't bad, lots of cool concepts, but this does NOT have that much re-watchability
I just got out from a theater and it's bleh movie i'd rather watch Shang chi again heck i'd rather watch No Time To Die two times rather than watch Eternals
The writing was poor. Yes some of the concepts were cool but none of them were given the depth they needed. Also, the dialogue was terrible and there were some interesting subplots that were also super shallow and not given enough time despite the movie feeling like it went on five-ever
I'll give it credit for the ending not consisting of a big CGI punch fest against random faceless characters. I think what she did to Tiamut was treated in a sober and serious way as it should have been. I wish the director had been a little more deft at some of the big character things including Icarus's last scene so it had more impact. But I liked almost all the actors and I thought the characters were good, just nothing great about the movie. I also kind of wish they had inserted a Doctor Strange or Wong cameo on the beach because it's kind of strange to see a planet sized guy emerge from the ocean and none of the Avengers notice.
Say what you will about this movie, but I had a big ass smile on my face when the speedster character was fighting the Superman character, it was just soo damn good 🤌
it made me really glad that they showed a fast character could actually fight, i watched the flash and in every battle or conflict they always hoe barry allen, like they say something like "run barry run" which made me frustrated, like they nerfed him when he could actually defeat everybody in the show instantly, seeing speed beat strength in eternals was my favorite part in the movie
@@RorikH Thing is, this was meant to come out before invincible even aired, so any resemblance is coincidental at best. Speed Vs strength is a common matchup in comics, anime and fiction in general anyway
@@MrKangorilla The resemblance is coincidental, but the Invincible one was so freaking brutal I could barely watch, and this was just the same but way tamer and I didn't care about any of the characters.
The entire time I was watching the movie I was thinking this should have just been a miniseries. The pacing was horrid, but could have worked with more breathing room and time to watch the thousand years old relationship dynamics play out.
@@thepeacefulbearbeer definitely. Serci acting is painfully unbearable and she has one face for all emotion. I think the guy is probably the best out of them
When he is talking about Sprite stealing Loki’s move & explaining how theyre going to retcon it. It very well could have actually happened that way, one of the character’s in the movie literally references how they used to hangout with Thor & how he doesnt answer his calls anymore.
just saw it today on disney plus, and i had heard some not so great things about it and even heard it was the MCUs first flop, but i actually enjoyed it for what it was. it did feel very much like a justice league movie, despite the very similar characters, it had a more mature tone, and even does the whole gods wanting to be human thing too. the characters feel very human, except for the superman guy. i think things would of worked better if eternals was a series instead of a movie, i would of liked these characters fleshed out more. the whole deviant antagonist was kinda wasted, it was interesting that it kept evolving, but then wonder woman just kills it in the very end and thats the end of that story. i would have loved to see that story fleshed out more. overall 7/10 for me.
Druig was my favourite part of this movie. I’m looking forward to what they do for the likely second movie, but I also hope they clear some stuff up with a prequel of some sort
I think as we see these characters in sequel films or in other MCU projects we'll get other flashbacks similar to this movie, and they'll provide more context for character decisions and plot points, I don't think we're going to get a prequel though. And don't get me wrong I love a prequel I would want it, but I don't see it happening.
I can definitely see the DC point being made- The entire concept of Eternals is that they are gods among men, which also happens to be one of the main concepts of the DC universe.
Jack Kirby moved between marvel and DC regularly. He created the most of the old school characters. I know nothing about the eternals, only that Thanos' brother joined them.
@@boboboy8189 Am glad it got scrapped, DC produce very shit forgettable movies, Zan snyders Justice league is the worst 4 hours pile of dung since a long time.
i think, at this point, marvel has painted itself into a corner. theyve done the epic final battle where the good army faces the bad army so many times now they feel like theyre underperforming if they dont. but not every final battle has to be that large-scale. look at the final battle of empire strikes back, where luke takes on vader. it wasnt epic because of special effects or world-threatening stakes, it was epic because it was PERSONAL. it was a culmination of dramatic tension between two characters. the stakes were grounded and small-scale. marvel has done this too. think of the winter soldier and civil war - the climax of each was simply cap vs bucky/cap vs iron man. it was light on cgi and "epicness" but you were actually invested in what happened. save the huge apocalyptic battles for the avengers movies, because those are in themselves a culmination of each "phase," that way it still feels meaningful. if you do it with every single movie regardless of whether or not it suits the story/characters, it just becomes another box to check.
@@Zmantheburger same! it just didnt feel necessary to have such a large scale assault for the climax. black panther ended similarly BUT it actually made more sense storywise there, with war and uprise being a theme throughout
@@floydland3509 yeah, its symbiotic. if marvel does anything different, even if its effective, marvel fans tend to complain that Its Different So It Sucks. then you have the other side complaining that Its The Same So It Sucks. aka the same feedback loop that created backlash for the force awakens and the last jedi. honestly i think disney tries too hard for mass market appeal. listening to the fans isnt always the best idea.
The characters in this film were so great. Sersi, Makkari, Sprite, Ikaris, Thena, Kingo, Phastos ..... Everyone did so well. And yes I agree with Jeremy there that it could have been much better. The plot could have been a bit more richer and complex. It's definitely not a mess like everyone on the internet is suggesting.
Also one of my favorite parts of the movie was the kid insisting that Icarus was Superman and even pointing out the obvious ripoff of the character traits. I'm sure they had to have gotten DC's permission to name drop but I thought that was pretty ballsy and made me laugh.
They succeeded in making celestials feel big and scary , like I truly felt the immensity of their being. They could have wrapped all this up in a snap of a finger and not thought about it. I fear their return. They more powerful then anything we saw in the marvel universe
Couldn't agree more. I saw Arishem and was like, WOAH, another possible big-bad to throw into the mix of possible big-bads. So far Phase 4 is very much a Phase 1 Redux, in that everything so far is really just trying redefine the MCU as we've come to know it, which in-and-of-itself is not a bad thing, but I just wish that Marvel Studios would maybe swing for the fences a little more. Who know, maybe once Phase 4 is done, and Phase 5 starts, they'll be able to go even further with some of these interesting ideas, instead of falling back on formula too much.
My last Thought Experiment got me banned "Are you still a Grandchild if your Grandparents die" "Are you still a Sibling if your Siblings die" I'm morbid AF
I really enjoyed several of the individual characters and their relationships, and the high-concept world cycle thing was cool, but it all needed more time. This concept could have been a cinematic universe of its own
I totally agree with you! The CGI really stood out to me more than the other Marvel movies, and you're right, the tones that the movie was going for was confusing
Jack Kirby, Steve Ditko, Carl Burgos, Bill Everett, Gene Colan, Joe Simon, Wally Wood, Bill Finger along with many writers/artists from the Golden Age and Silver Age deserve more credit then they got.
@@georgeturner1155 No not really. What you are talking about is a preemptive Suit because the grandchildren of one of the creators of Spider-Man are trying to sue Marvel for profits even though they have no real claim. They waited until Ditko died and then are trying to get a piece of the pie. They know they cant win, they are just trying to get a settlement out of Disney.
@@bladewolflq-84i86 that’s not true. I’m personally a big Holland fan. Also the Raimi characters are still a big deal because of those actors returning to play the character.

Funny thing is these characters are meant to be what we based our mythology on... Except for Norse myth cause Odin and Asgard were still real in the MCU and still co-existing. Huh.
I just saw the movie and I don't get why the is so much hate. I like this more that Shang-Chi and Black Widow and a few other marvel movies. It is far from the worst MCU movie
I completely agree. I don't want to automatically say that a lot of the hate is coming from a group of people that don't like the diversity in this movie and are just review bombing it. Even though I enjoyed the movie, I just don't think that even if you disliked it, you could have disliked it a lot more than other Marvel movies.
I actually really enjoyed it, more than other more recent marvel movies. I found that the fighting scenes felt intentional, I think a lot of times the MCU will just throw in fights because there hasn’t been one in 20 mins. But there wasn’t a lot of fighting in this movie. And it was cool seeing powers that we haven’t seen in the MCU before. I personally really enjoyed it i thought it still had it’s MCU stuff but was different enough.
Yup that's what it is. I mistakenly called it out with the first guardians of the Galaxy, but that movie surprised me. After endgame, the stakes of the MCU just aren't enough for me to invest in any of these movies anymore. I'm more interested in solo films than inter connected phases.
As a big fan, it feels more like it’s bridging into its own specific audience and the public audience is freed from the obligation to watch after endgame. It’s understandable, but I wouldn’t say it’s tiring at all, just becoming more complex the bigger it gets. Theres still a lot to be excited about (loki and wandavision have sold me on phase 4 already), but only for those who know what to anticipate.
I think its also a bit of what happened with Black Panther, that if you felt it was a solid good movie but not "the greatest most important super hero movie of all time" then you were automatically racist.. It may be ppl are afraid to be labeled a homophobe or bigot for this one due to the "fIrSt LgBtQaBcDeFg HeRo"... Maybe I'm wrong and its just fatigue, but idk
Word. I was surprised by how much I liked Druig by the end. Plus, showing him fight expertly with that shotgun was dope. I like that he can still do some damage and play other roles without mind-control.
Dunes visuals and CGI were in another level, everything looked so real and smooth, like at no point did I notice anything was a green screen. Dune needs Oscar for visuals
Movies like Dune are exactly the reason why i look forward to a theater experience. Not only do you notice Denis' masterful filmmaking, you see the hard work the special effects team did, the genius of the makeup and costume design team, the cinematography, the music, etc.
I really enjoyed the movie. I really don‘t get where the hate is coming from. It‘s so much better than most movies in the mcu. Captain marvel, both spider man movies, thor the dark world or iron man 3.
The Eternals got more interesting only when Neil Gaiman wrote the story making them completely forgetting who they were. And so you basically get Thena baby sitting her child, Ikaris thinking he was a doctor and Sprite pretending to be Macaulay Culkin.
@@darthdragonborn1552 if frank miller died and you'd showed someone who didn't know eithers art and showed them it side by side they'd actually be surprised franks art improved LMMFAO
“Actors don’t sell movies” totally depends on the movies. For something like Sherlock Holmes with someone like RDJ they 100% do, but in something from Tarentino/Cameron or in a MCU/Star Wars movie they don’t at all.
it's always a mix of the right actor and the part. RDJ's Doctor Dolittle bombed hard but Sherlock Holmes was a success. Chis Hemsworth on Thor and Extraction yes but his Men in Black bombed.
I saw the movie, it was great. I also saw the rotten tomato score and meta critic review- both a lot lower than the google review of 80%. I think we are starting to get spoiled by movies and now if something isn’t a masterpiece 10/10, it gets panned for not being good. This movie was better than most especially when compared to the DCEU
I love it when Jeremy really gets into the main idea of a movie, like how he was talking about us migrating to another planet. Stuff like that really makes you think about it yourself.
It's an obscure property and you did no research beforehand. This is good. This is why I came here. I needed a fresh perspective. Thank you, Jeremy Jahns.
At this point the MCU is stepping on its own feet. We had 10 years of being amazed by the formula and the building story, but I feel like everyone who isn’t a 10 year old expected new formulas after endgame, and now every movie has the watermark of being “an MCU movie” all over it
Main issue is they’re not building to anything anymore (or anything anyone cares about at least). When crappy movies like Ant-Man 2 or Captain Marvel came out people still went because they were excited for the next Avengers. Now they’re just crappy movies on their own
@@CallmeJochem I’m really glad some people really like shang-chi. But what movie did y’all see? The one I saw had a great first act followed by some of the most boring exposition and worst CGI I’ve seen in a while
No, his question was whether we should move to a planet without sentient life, preventing sentient life from developing there. The prime directive only prevents them from interfering with a planet that already has sentient life.
@@haludan111 not a directive per se, but in Wrath of Khan while scoping out planets to test the Genesis device on, Dr Marcus expressly forbid any tests done on planets with even microbial life that could eventually evolve into sentience. not much to go on and they don't really refer back to that anywhere else in the franchise from what I remember
I guess I’m one of the few people who loved this movie, and for the same reasons that made people hate it. I guess everyone wanted another marvel movie where you have more time with characters through other movies. However the underlying theme in the movie and that whole philosophical concept of good and evil is what makes it enough for me to enjoy it even without having spent that much time with the characters. In the other words, the theme is important enough that we don’t even need that much time to feel like we’re part of what’s happening; it’s like bonding over trauma, or bonding over an event that’s intense enough that doesn’t require a long time to do it’s job. Now, because I’ve personally constantly think about the themes portrayed in the movie yeah ofc I was able to quickly relate to the characters and their motivations. But I feel like most people are more concerned with more practical issues of existence, like how I’m gonna pay my bills or will I find a partner and that’s why the other Marvel movies are more liked by most people. To me, the movies wasn’t even about the eternals as characters, but it was about the nature of good and evil and what is fair or there really is justice or is it all just power? Most people don’t think about that so I understand they would not care about and feel like the movie was bad.
One of the worst spoiler reveals in a trailer was Batman vs Superman revealing that both Wonder Woman and Doomsday were in the movie. Completely ruined the reveals and surprise in theater.
There are a lot of individual moments and elements that I loved, from the quieter personal moments between characters to the hard-core mythological worldbuilding and the crazy, high-concept sci-fi straight from the wonderful mind of Jack Kirby, but something just doesn't quite mesh together, and I can't put my finger on it. Great individual stuff that's worth checking out and makes it worthwhile overall, but there's something in how all of those pieces fit together that don't always work for me. It also has a few too many modern Hollywood/modern anything under Disney tropes and cliches that I'm well past bored of seeing half a decade ago, but that's more of a me thing.
I felt this movie had so much potential: so many interesting characters and ideas, but none of them really get deeply explored. I feel this movie suffers from the "too many characters problem", so no character gets the development they deserve. Like the "evil deviant" dude, it was so interesting when he came to life and became self-aware, but then they just killed him in the very next scene. Icarus could have had such an interesting character arc, but instead he just "became good" in the last moment for no reason then died. If the movie hadn't spent half its runtime "getting the band back together" these things could have had more substance.
So here’s my thought. Thors mom told him in Endgame that she was raised by witches. Loki learned his magic from his mom. Could it be a possibility that the witches who raised Lokis mom were taught by an Eternal similar to Sprite or sprite herself. After all Asguardians can live for hundreds of years and Sprite wouldn’t remember teaching them if she gets her mind wiped between planets.

This is why Marvel films are referred to as theme park rides. Formulaic films (most common in marvel films but other action films such as the F&F, dumb comedies, and most horror movies), are there for an audience to be quickly entertained and to move on. When someone tells me a movie is boring, 9 times out of 10 it tells me a lot more about the audience than it does about the film itself. Dont get me wrong, I enjoy dumb movies. Im just also capable of enjoying cinema as an art form and find that it tends to be most rewarding when it finds that blend of blockbuster & art. Thats how a lot of people see Christopher Nolan’s movies (hes a lot more blockbuster than art, but its at least the base level of what people who enjoy movies can go, “hey I enjoy movies as more than a roller coaster ride, I actually put some thought into what the movie was trying to say.”) Denny Villeneuve has mastered the blend of art & blockbuster with Dune and Blade Runner 2049. His previous films (Arrival, Sicario, and Prisoners) Already cemented him as one of the greatest directors of the modern film era. Already I probably put more thought into this comment than yall put into watching “boring movies”. My point is, while im not very much into ceramics, I cant deny the amount of craft that was put into them. While its not for me, it is undeniably art. Dismissing something as “boring” is denying your own knowledge and appreciation toward a subject - if not the subject itself than what went behind it. If you find museums boring, is it the museums fault, or is it yours for not understanding the work that went behind each piece, the story or message behind it, the passion that together all make up some level of a masterpiece.
I love how deep and detailed this review got! Thanks a lot for going into it futher whilst still keeping it vague. It seems this turned out just how I expected it would though 😔.
Im so glad you brought up the consequences of the Eternals' actions because not many people are talking about it. The movie described celestials as essential beings in the universe because they create not just new lives/civilization but also gravity, stars, planets, and etc. Without them, it seems like the universe cannot be held together and that's why their emergence is an essential part of the natural order of the universe. Wouldn't stoping the emergence have huge huge consequences? I mean how are they going to make up for it? Ikarus says it's not a matter of good and evil and it's not "evil" and rather a matter of keeping the universe and its natural order together. New celestials are essential in creation of billions of new lives. Kingo agrees with Ikarus even after he found out about his "betrayal". But Sersi literally gives no logical rebuttal and rather hugs Ikarus and hold his hands. Phastos just shouts "how is billions dying a natural order". It seemed like the movie acknowledged the flaw and tried addressing it but those are not legit answers. Like you mentioned, if they said that wiping out lives is worse that preventing new lives to be born (although it doesn't address other issues about things like gravity), I would've understood. They should've either showed that Arishem had alternative dark motive and was unnecessarily trying to destroy earth, or showed how eternals can resolve the catastrophe that would result from a celestial that was supposed to be born not being born, or showed that 1 less celestial is not that game changing, or showed that there is a way to save earth AND let the celestial emerge. Eternals seemed to be just emotionally driven with no plans or concerns about the consequences of their action. They seemed very irresponsible and I would NOT entrust them to solve problems on earth.
For my part; I liked it. It reminded me of high fantasy; which tends to be heavy on narration and lore. Sure, you don't get action every moment of the runtime; but it does play with some interesting concepts. I liked this movie far more than I thought I would.
What I understand so far about The Eternals is that there the equivalent to DCs Gods of New Genesis and Apokolips. They’re just OP super-powered aliens.
Because the same author created both, Jack Kirby, and in a meta way both the eternals and the new gods kind of complement each other since Kirby somewhat continued one story in the other.
I honestly loved the movie I think the characters stories are good and the fights are awesome and I fear for their deaths because I did initially knew some would perish due to the amount introduced. The celestials definitely look very powerful and seem to not even be interested at least for the moment being and perhaps there is an even bigger force controlling them.
7:00 -- I usually agree with you except on this one... I really liked the CGI in this. It felt natural where they would hang on a shot of Icarus flying, then coming to the ground, interacting with something real... no cuts. It made it feel more 'real' than, say, an actor about to fly, bending his/her knees... cut to reaction of people watching, then back to the CGI person flying off. I dunno, I actually feel like this is a LOT better than almost every Marvel film, as far as CGI. Engaging story? Not so much.

8:52 -- I will say... I agree here, where the film wants to get into new territory but something is holding it back. Honestly, that's the executives with their confining notes. My buddy directed dealt with this at WB where he was directing a major film there but it was SOOOOOOO many executives confining him, telling him what he could or couldn't do, telling him to reshoot entire scenes in new ways... that it's hard to know where a filmmaker's decisions are their own. I, personally, don't blame a filmmaker entirely when something is awful... nor, do I get them all of the credit when something is great.
Having just seen it, Kingo mentioned hanging with Thor as a kid. Wouldn't surprise me if Loki actually did pick up that trick from the other character lol
@@fleeplayTV I meant he hung out with Thor when Thor was a child. He mentioned that he knew Thor when he was a kid and now he's a great avenger who can't pick up the phone in the movie
It's funny how no one wants to actually say they didn't like it straight up, they just make videos making excuses and saying it in many other ways, except actually just saying they didn't like it. It's like everyone is afraid to death of just not liking an MCU movie.
In the Beginning, you could see the Celestias face since he’s so big, which I prefer, but later you can see most of his body which made him look small and like any other villain
