As an autistic cis man, I hate that on top of transphobia he is being ableist. Autism doesn't mean that you should be stripped of all the rights related to deciding over our lives and bodies.

@@Moebz818being trans isn’t a disorder. And neither is being autistic. That’s how we are born. Edit: I’ve been having a rough few weeks and my comment was me being triggered and defensive. I am trans and autistic. I got hung up on the words “psychological disorder” which I don’t think that transgender or ASD are. In my opinion, psychological disorders can be treated with medication and/or therapy to help reduce symptoms. Autism and being trans isn’t psychological and can’t be treated with medication. That’s what I was trying to say.

@@Moebz818 being trans isn’t a disorder. gender dysphoria is a disorder, but even the science behind that is iffy because of the way it centres cis-heteronormativity. and not all trans people have dysphoria. but even if being trans was a disorder, that doesn’t take away peoples right to make their own medical decisions. and transition would be the best way for people to cope.

@DontCare Just need to add, being a trans person is not connected to a psychological disorder. The American Psychiatric Association has stated there is no definitive evidence being trans is a psychological disorder, and states as much on their website. Body dismorphia is considered a disorder because it is tied to a huge amount stressors including people who suffer with eating disorders, body shaming, post severe injury depression etc. Being trans is not a psychological disorder. It's as natural as being cis.

What I find most hilarious is that he didn't even *try* to work with those constraints. I grew up Christian, and still consider myself so, but have taken to this fun phase of either flipping the interpretations of certain verses to in some way support whatever some bigot is trying to use it to refute, or pointing out a different verse that does that work for me, since the Bible contradicts itself at almost *every* opportunity. For context, the verse that was quoted, Romans 1: 26-27, has a context which implies that GOD intentionally made an entire populace homosexual. They weren't being punished for being gay, but were made so by God, whether they'd wanted it or not, amongst many other changes, as a punishment and a show of God's wrath. Basically *ANYTHING* that could have been viewed as bad at the time, from homosexual lust, to deceit, to the smallest inconvenience, to covetousness, to *murder* was put into the hearts of these people for their crimes. What was the crime? Hubris, vanity, lacking faith, etc... They got too full of themselves and worshiped God not as an almighty incorruptible symbol of faith, but merely as an image of man. Thought they knew best and got molly wopped for their troubles. So then the question becomes, "What is the lesson here?" The lesson being taught doesn't seem to have much to do with homosexuality. It's just a footnote and is utilized in a context in which God actively makes people gay... Oli could have pointed that out while diverting to the actual point of the story being told around the quoted verse, which *seems* to be "Don't get a FAT HEAD, act too big for your britches, and diminish the value of God in your faith, or He will *_BLIGHT_* you." Personally, I take it to mean, "Don't ever think you know it all. Life always finds a way to throw you, even if it has to throw *everything* at you to do it."

The majority of our priests are women fightiong agains the majority male bishops to defend queer issues. @GingerCookieG yeah, the idea of masculinity throughout the 20th century prevailing into even now has genuinely put a damper on the kinds of relationships that fathers have with their children. Its a very different kind of generational trauma that we’re not as used to hearing about, where due to any kind of perceived weakness (or rather kindness) being referred to as “gay”, the father won’t fulfill his duty in the emotional development of a child, leading to a lashing out and demand of attention from the child while their mother is solely carrying the weight of this development herself, despite it being rather vital for a father (or even a separate but still relevant and consistent adult) to be present as well. It’s quite sad, honestly, how homophobic stereotypes and fear mongering has created a rather unintended consequence. Religion. Well, it's certainly the excuse they use. Very few conservatives are actually religious. They pretend they are religious, but typically just use the bible as a way to bash everyone else and a means to forgive their every transgression. Any person who think someone should be forced to have a child, but should not have any help in feeding that child, who doesn't believe we as humans have a direct responsibility to look out for ALL other humans, doesn't believe the very teachings of Jesus. I am not religious, but as a cis autistic male, I have actually read the bible several times. Er, I don't know what that had to do with me being cis, male, or autistic. :| er. Sorry, now my ADHD just made me lose track. Religion, right. Religion is the only thing that ever sees the expansion of another group's rights as an encroachment upon their own. The horrible thing is there is a message of understanding and compassion in the bible, but I think what matters the most is the true character of the person's heart who reads such words. The way all of us listen to the same songs or the same poems or stories and come away with different messages. Conservatives are bastardizing the actual words in the bible to use it as a weapon, which in all honesty, is how it has always been used. Sorry, I ramble, but yeah, that's why these conservitiots don't really believe in the bible, it's just their excuse to be cruel and further promote their true god's Money and Guns, OH and Power. That's what they actually worship.

Her experience seems, if anything, to have made her more compassionate and given her a strong insight into how gender dysphoria actually affects us. I bring her up just to show that there are detransitioners who do not agree with the terfery. I don't want any of us, especially our allies, to fall for the idea that detransitioners are our enemies. Many of them want the same things we want, including better understanding of the trans experience (which helps us as well as them). We are naturally allies, because our enemy is the same, cisheteronormativity. To be totally clear, something you're probably aware of but just saying this broadly to anyone reading the convo, but detransitioners are by and large trans SUPPORTERS. Most people detransition for reasons outside of realizing they're not trans. It is usually due to lack of support from friends and family, to avoid any physical responses they've gotten from people in public spaces, fear of the bills being passed, in order to get a job, and many other factors these anti-trans people just flat out ignore. Even the vast majority of the ones who do detransition because they realize they weren't trans don't just jump to the conclusion that there's an epidemic of this happening. The data just does NOT square that out. And to be even more clear, the idea that trans people want to pretend that detransitioners aren't real isn't true whatsoever. It's a subject trans people are constantly discussing to and with detransitioners. We're very supportive of detransitioners and advocate for them getting the help they need both medically and mentally for their process to detransition.

I am a detransitioner ftm, now f/nb and I have to say, my experience being part of the trans community, outside of my own struggles with understanding my gender, was lovely. Every trans person I met is a dear friend to me and they were all supportive both during my transition and during my detransition. My opinion on transgenderism being real and being valid hasn't changed just because it turned out I wasn't trans male and just a really confused bisexual queer woman. My experience doesn't invalidate the experiences of thousands of trans men and women who were sure they were on the right path and are living thier best lives being who they know they are. Mistakes happen. Mental health and trauma and brain chemicals are wack and can make it hard to understand who you are for some, like me. But I have a bittersweet relationship with it because it wasn't all bad. If I didn't go through it, I wouldn't have met the wonderful people I met, I wouldn't have developed the empathy and understanding I have for others now, I would be a very different person and I can't be sure I'd like that person any more than I like this one. I like who I am on the inside more as this person. I may have never been able to figure out who I really am without trying to transition, because having gone through some of it and realizing it wasn't for me made me have to confront my real demons, and now I had friends who could help me and would be understanding of my struggle because self discovery is something we both could relate to.

@miggs3374 I agree. I hope over time we are able to normalize identity exploration that doesn't end in a concrete answer on the first guess. We have come so far in crushing the assumption that people must fit into boxes in a rhetorical sense, but so many can say they don't do that and go on to police others anyways. It's like instead of breaking down boxes, we just created a few new ones to shove people into. Everyone on the sexuality and gender spectrum is capable of this closed-minded behavior, thinking things like "you're not *this* enough to be *that* identity" or "I thought you said you were *this*, were you lying to me?" or "You need to just decide already, it's so frustrating trying to keep up with all these changes." Discovering who you are isn't a straight street to stroll down for all. Some might know who they are right away. Some it might take years. Some will always change because who they believe they are fluctuates. Some people never figure it out, the worst outcome. We need to give people the space to grow. But that's something that's always been fought against in every facet of life, not only gender or sexuality. Like how people will hold something bad you did over your head for eternity, even long after you've changed and grown as a person. And at that point, you might start thinking it's not worth it to change, because you will be ridiculed no matter what. You may as well be what they say you are, since that identity will be pushed on you regardless. But I digress. It's 4am and I haven't slept all night because of a stomach ache so I'm a little rambly.

@CasualVFlowerEnjoyer Год назад
@frilly35 no problem! Self discovery is a process for many, and even if you end up going down the wrong path for yourself, I don't think the experience is a total loss. The great part of making mistakes is learning from them, and it was very valuable for me to learn the things I did from the experience. I feel like a lot of detransitioners who tell only a horror story of their experience failed to truly appreciate how going through the experience helped them discover their true self. Even if some physical things can't go back to how they were before, that is sometimes the price of learning. And I think having to live with parts of your body not feeling proper should make you more empathetic to trans struggles, not retaliatory. It so obviously proves the existence of trans issues and the need for gender-affirming care. How can you experience body dysmorphia yourself and still fight and deny trans people the right to care you yourself desire? Make it make sense.

@Darnagom
@Darnagom 5 месяцев назад
@urgae9125 An argument you will see a lot is sex≠gender, so what I'm told is a man can transition to a woman but can't be a female. Sex is biology, and gender is not, is what they say. A woman is "an adult female human being," a female is "the sex group capable of laying eggs and bearing offspring" sounds delusional to me. Attempting to be a person of the opposite sex can also lead to harmful affects on your body, fully your choice. However, telling underage children they can consent to gender affirmation surgery and puberty blockers, which have harmful side effects, sounds like a form of predator. If people who believed they could change their genetics did so and kept it to themselves, nobody would care and the majority of the backlash received wouldn't be there, but they decide they want to change their lifestyle and they must voice it everywhere, teach it to little children, and force it on everyone. "They don't force their views on anyone." If someone does not believe in a "transwoman" being a woman, then you can't expect them to call you by the pronouns of a woman. What "science" is this that I am deeming "feelings and delusion"? Science deals with observation which leads to a theory, which if reoccur every time becomes a scientific fact. Observation: a man claiming he is a woman still has the DNA of a man and still looks like a man, sound like a man, and still possess the physical capabilities of man. Which is why "transwomen" are dominating the womens Olympics. He will also never be able to bear offspring. Fact: he's only a man claiming to be a woman, as he does not have the DNA of one, nor does he experience things woman do. Only difference is behavior and appearance. Harm, let's think about it. As previously mentioned, you have women's Olympics being overrun with biological men who can beat the average women because men are biological built stronger, faster, more durable, etc. You have "transwomen" in women's prison impregnating inmates. You have to empathize with the FEELINGS of "trans" people, but if women feel uncomfortable with a biological man in their locker room, bathroom, etc, they are bigoted and irrational.

My hormone specialist had to fight the insurance and pull strings to get it for me due to the fuckin stupid amount of red tape slapped everywhere. This is **a f t e r** I got my top surgery, as well as before that, realizing IN therapy that I was trans. Hello, fellow 24 year old autistic trans man! I struggled so fucking much to get on testosterone as well. Only way I was able to do it was to go to Planned Parenthood. I would've just been running in circles otherwise. The last therapist I had straight up lied on her Psychology Today page and had no idea about anything related to trans stuff. Insanity. Even going through Planned Parenthood, I had to fight with my insurance for 2 months to get it. And they still don't even cover it. They only cover half of my appointments. I have to use GoodRX instead of insurance to make my T affordable. I'm planning on getting on government insurance soon since I'm currently on my dad's insurance, so hopefully that will help. I've been told they will at least cover my top surgery. Here's hoping 🤞. I hope you got things figured out and wish you all the best going forward in your transition!

In total, that whole process robbed me of about 3 years in which I could've been living fully as myself instead of having to convince cisgender therapists that I'm trans enough to transition. Meanwhile, I'm turning 30 this year and have only just started my second puberty .. I want to add that the only reason I made it this far is because I am a solo parent, and I cannot leave my kids behind. I'm a 32 y/o trans male/NB person (also born in 1990) and this "debate" was PAINFUL to watch. First off, this guy is 100% a grifter. Like Ty said, he's way too articulate not to be. He's too good at talking in circles and avoiding committing to anything, he's clearly learned from his past blunders and is watching himself more closely. IF the trans community was ever hostile towards him, it's because of his entire "I want to be Korean" thing. The trans community isn't just trans, which Oli seems to do a wonderful job at never acknowledging. Some of our most visible members are women of color, and they only become so visible due to the violence they experience. I am very confident that people saw through *all* of this, and called him out accordingly. Mr. Complex decided that "the mean trans community" was behaving just like his childhood bullies (never because he "transitioned", but because he was a racist bigot). The trans community would be NO WHERE without our sisters of color, and he thought he wouldn't be held accountable for what he did because he's white, wealthy, and British. The "My pronouns are Kor/Ean" comment was a clear sign he cares about neither of those communities. I sincerely hope the American Right chews him up and spits him out.

I wish Ethan would have made the point that Ty made. I have a family member who was 14 or 15 and said to his parents, I'm a boy. His parents were like, no, you're a girl and you're confused by all the videos and things that are influencing you on social media. The parents ended up taking away his internet access, hoping that would help. The child became s****** (censoring so this doesn't get taken down). So, the parents took him to see a mental health professional, just like Oli here recommends. Guess what that professional said? (Who btw is not a part of a gender clinic, but just a regular accredited therapist) They said that this child is transgender and that his parents need to use his right name and pronouns or he would not live. So the argument that kids need more mental health support makes no sense - transitioning IS mental health support. And 9 times out of 10 a social transition is enough, but sometimes puberty blockers are a part of that recommended treatment. These people keep saying that it's this big agenda to "transition" kids when it's the consensus of medical professionals that this is necessary treatment! So just say you don't believe in science or medical professionals! That would at least make more sense than this bullshit
@Dutch3DMaster
@Dutch3DMaster Год назад
It's also weird that when they make the "mental healthcare" remark they completely ignore the fact that prior to puberty blockers, their treatment consists out of extensive talks with a mental healthcare professional... When some people use that argument "These children (or when it's targeted to trans people in general) need mental help, not treatment!!" I typically respond with the remark: "Well, we do. But I think it's not the kind you want us to have."

I think a lot of people end up confusing their own LACK of solid identity, with others who DO have a solid identity which just doesn't line up with the expectations placed on them at birth. And when they realize that yet another identity they're casually trying on doesn't fit, they can't recognize that as a personal problem of self awareness; they assume nobody else's divergent identity could be legitimate and fixed, because their own wasn't and they cant fathom that others have a sense of self which they themselves lack. It's sad really, and it's why therapy is so key for EVERYBODY, not JUST those who are trans or otherwise gender non-conforming. Many straight cis people don't know who they are on a deep level, while many trans people DO know themselves and have to overcome ridiculous barriers to simply express it.

There is a huge shortage in healthcare professionals in general. Trans healthcare is not covered by public healthcare (you can only get a diagnosis for almost free and change your gender and name in official papers, Kela which is partially supported by public services helps with surgery costs). I didn’t know about trans people in the slightest, especially not trans men. You can’t police thought, for one. And for two, we’ve seen time and time again, that kids who are trans are going to think about this shit whether they know it’s trans or hear about it or not. In short, hiding and sheltering kids from the facts of reality like the fact that people of different types exist, does nothing but harm them and make them less comfortable being open if they do in fact have those thoughts, out of fear of punishment.

@@Moebz818 I am autistic but cis though and I obviously am around a lot of people with my condition and I think the link is actually misleading. I'm not saying it's inaccurate but I think the relationship is not that simple. For example autistic people are more likely to be gay, asexual, some have a low concept of gender because of issues socialising with people, some have a high concept of gender. And autistic people are more likely to be found in some subcultures such as furries. I think it is because if you are already kinda of an outcast there is less social pressure it hide stuff and being sort of isolated makes you realise stuff about yourself. I think it is a case of autistic people realising stuff faster and being less ashamed than average people and the fact that autistic people are being studied anyway in detail meaning comparing them with the general public which are not studied in depth gives a exaggerated impression and assumed reason between the link of autism and lbgt stuff in general.

@@Moebz818 Id recommend watching ponderfuls video on it. The fact is it would be the same as essentially saying furries, nerds, geeks and other lgbt identities are biologically linked becuase people with autism are more likely to be in these groups. The main reason why its not a biological link but a sociological one, is because people with autism simply just find it harder to conform, someone without autism who has gender dysphoria finds it easier to conform, therefore it is far easier to just not be out, not transition if gender dysphoria is not severe or at least not worsened by other difficulties. This essentially would require you to believe that people who are trans or have gender dysphoria are abnormal, but poeple who are cis with gender dysphoria and are not trans and not diagnosed are somehow what normal? because there are plenty of cis people who have gender dysphoria and do not wish to transition, the concept of dysphoria around sex characteristics is purely made from a discomfort from their sex characteristics. Gender dysphoria can be created, gender dysphoria can be worsened, gender dysphoria can also be lessened. It would also require you to believe sex is also like a switch rather than a spectrum, which as we already know it is clearly not two, basic sex ed when explaining simplified reproductive systems is not enough to explain something as complicated as gender dysphoria. You have the additional issue of the gender dysphoria is worsened by societal input, the same as spd is, like certain clothing items being off limits, ect. ect. as well as clothes essentially being genital mascots. All of these issues are worsened when you are already not apart of that norm. The issue here is clearly conformity, and the concept that trans people are abnormal and therefore they must have some weird thing going on in their head to make them like this, rather than it being just some people have dysphoria but most do not. Essentially what I'm saying is, it's a matter of sociological reasons as to why certain people are out of the closet, whilst others are not. If your gonna have autism you mars as well be out about all of it becuase you are already seen as abnormal. A lot more cis people have dysphoria than we think as well. The question is more of why are people with autism more often out about their struggles with dysphoria than cis people? I mean we have plenty of proof that cis people can and do experience gender dysphoria (not including cis people who are not out) but for some reason none of them are diagnosed with it apart from a small handful of those who medically transitioned and then felt no less dysphoria after transitioning. Dysphoria is a very complex thing to explain ofc. To someone who is looking at it as a perspective biologically, you are already starting off from the wrong perspective. ITs just that we now need to close that book and adress it as not being biollogically linked to autism because thats originally what people first tried to do to stop people from medically transitioning. And when they don't get that they try to claim its attached to abuse and philias. They try to medicalise the idea of being trans, rather than gender dysphoria itself. Which gender dysphoria is not biologically linked to autism. It however is sociologically linked to anyone who has a neurological disorder like autism, adhd, ect. for multiple reasons. My point here is, it's weird that anyone who doesn't believe being trans is abnormal or having autism is abnormal whilst jumping right to that it must be a biological problem rather than a once again sociological problem. Many people can simply just not conform when they already have multiple issues. Gender dysphoria can be something that is one part of your body and gender dysphoria can also be hating every single cell in your body, the diagnosis doesn't make much difference in any amount or scale or care for personal experience, clearly these small issues are worsened by the demand to conform. Also dont take that therapist too serious because the moment I knew they had no idea what they where talking about was when they started using the term "gender identitiy disorder" rather than "gender dysphoria". I can get maybe if this was like from 8 years ago, but it wasn't. It just simply implies this is an identity issue that people with autism more often haven, it becomes even more clownery when you realise techinically (and I hate to say this but ima say it here) everyone has autism, im not explaining how go search it up, but people diagnosed with autism, simply have neurological differences to the extent with certain symptoms it is classified as being on the spectrum, therefore is everyone just trans or what now. Or are people with "more autism" more trans, or are people leaning on certain symptoms more likely to have dysphoria?, this statement is purely just like. Its easier to ask "why are people with autism statistically more likely to be open about their issues with conformity" and when you ask that you'll hit the nail right on the head and get your answer.

The whole "it's being pushed in schools" also makes literally no sense. There was a columnist in my country who (as a media-sociologist, go figure) holds people like Abigail Shrier and some TERF-authors to a degree he with someone holding the title he has should know are not scientists, nor if they were, conducted their research ethically. He had a column saying "It is wild that the ideology is now being pushed on children so much that if you walk into a high school today, each class has 8-10 children identifying as transgender." I have been a volunteer for a local rainbow support group that went to high schools in my city along with people who are gay, lesbian or bi or trans, to explain to children what their coming-out process was like and what preceded it. From mid 2017 (when I was asked to join as a younger transwoman who was actually going on hormones, while the rest was in their 50's, and none of them were using hormones) to begin 2019 I went along to probably near 100 of those lessons. And while the amount of students in those classes typically varied, some with less than 20 students, and sometimes more than 20 (with a couple of classes being over 30 students). When I average that out over let's say, 25 students per class, that was 2500 students I have seen in about 1,5-2 years. In all those classes, spread over 5 high schools we encountered 2 (!!!!) trans students, who, at that time, were fully out and en-route to getting puberty blockers. During those lessons most students were pretty clueless about transpeople, up to the point that when I and a transguy where both present, it confused them like nothing else (because the transguy passes well, and usually, students were pretty surprised to learn to know I wasn't born female as well (I personally would say I do not pass as well as the transguy, but in most classes, the opposite was definitely true). If those students had been indoctrinated it didn't work well...AT ALL.

Gender dysphoria is a metal health issue tho. Being trans isn’t a mental health issue, but gender dysphoria is the medical determinative that indicates that a person is trans. They feel dysphoric in the gender they were assigned, and the treatment is social and typically medical transition to the other gender in order to alleviate said dysphoria.

@@Moebz818 Gender dysphoria is caused by a mismatch between brain and body, both of which are perfectly fine and healthy on their own. It's just that female brains aren't supposed to be in male bodies, and vice-versa. That's a bit different than any other mental or physical health issue I know of. In the end, though, the solution is physical. Transphobes are always asking, "Why are you doing surgery on a healthy body, instead of therapy?" Well, the reason for that is because the clinical evidence has shown that gender-affirming care relieves gender dysphoria, but conversion therapy does not. It is possible to (more or less) change a person's sex, but it is not possible to change a person's gender identity. Even if it was possible to change gender identity, I'm not sure it would be ethical, because the brain is "self", and if you were to change someone's gender identity, you'd be changing them into a different person.

I'm an autistic trans kid. It's incredibly offensive for people to say that I shouldn't be able to make any decisions about my own body. I've known since 11 years old that I do not want breasts, and I do not want a reproductive system. Am I saying I should've been able to have surgeries then? No, because medically it wouldn't make sense when my body had barely started developing. But now, at 16, I definitely should have been able to get surgery before now. I've already been evaluated by a surgeon, now we're just waiting for insurance and scheduling. Which will probably take months, possibly years. Also, I've been on puberty blockers for like 11 months, and boy I wish I had those sooner. By the way, I didn't even understand gender when I was in middle school, but I already knew what I wanted for my body. I just didn't know it was called gender dysphoria. I've been in therapy for years. Yeah, it's great, but it's not the solution to gender dysphoria. Having depression, anxiety, autism, etc doesn't mean that I'm not also experiencing gender dysphoria. I'm on lots of meds for many different things, having weekly therapy sessions, embracing who I am, and guess what? Still have gender dysphoria. Still trans (not that you can't be trans without gender dysphoria. I just happen to also have dysphoria). I've been in dark places before, and I bet not having breasts would've helped at least somewhat lol. It's very annoying to constantly be having negative feelings every time I look down or remember that I have lumps of flesh on my chest. Also, yes, being bullied made me stay in the closet longer. Mainly because every time I was like "yo, I think I have depression," people would be like "you? HAHAHA, good one. That's like, literally impossible." or "I think I have multiple personalities," and they were like "stop attention seeking, you obviously don't, you just want attention." Nope. I was right. Not to mention I never even wanted their attention. I dreaded going to school and having to interact with them. Their attention was the last thing I wanted. But I believed them and kept gaslighting myself for a couple more years. Anyway, I enjoyed this video, and also hated it lol. It's hard to get through these stupid "arguments" that are just straight-up propaganda, even when it's being disproven and commentated over. Back when that prageru ad was going around, I tried to watch Jamiedodger's video on it but I couldn't handle it. Made my blood boil.

OOPS, forgot to mention that I am aware that multiple personalities is an outdated term, but personally we most likely have osdd-1b but we're not exactly sure, we're just sure we are a system. and not everyone knows what "I'm a system" means so often it seems easier to say "multiple personalities." for us it's more of a slang thing and we don't mean it to be the name of the disorder, cuz it's not. but yeah I just wanted to clarify that

@@bath_foam4576 but that's the thing it doesn't specify who or what type of surgeries are being performed so it could include any number of possibilities. @Dutch3DMaster
@Dutch3DMaster Год назад
@@delicateghoul It is quite a big number, and it's weird it is still happening because of the readily available knowledge of not only knowing how harmful it is to do because what can happen if the child is not conforming to the gender identity that the doctors thought they could decide upon by correcting someone's birth sex as an intersex person. Intersex children have received surgery way before 6 years of age, sometimes being mere months old, or sometimes being ripped away right after birth and sometimes even without parental consent or any description of what they were going to do. In Intersex children it is typically called "corrective surgery", and some medical professionals have spread all kinds of scary stories about it being socially necessary because the child would be unable to fit in in society and what not. Medical professionals have pressured parents into making a decision, sometimes without explaining well what they thought was necessary for their newborn. Intersex variations also include a testicle still stuck in the lower abdominal area, so that is included under it. But the fact this distinction is not made is because it does not fit the narrative: they (far and extreme-right politicians) want to be capable of saying to the public that there are surgeries performed on trans-minors. One hospital actually ceased to do those surgeries (because with all the knowledge about how our gender identity is formed, they still thought what is between your legs would dictate someone's gender identity) on intersex children, and it was picked up by grifters like Matt Walsh who basically went "SEE!! THEY ADMITTED THEY DID THAT!!", which was weird, because he is so incredibly angry about transchildren receiving treatment, while intersex children who ACTUALLY had corrective surgery performed on them, sometimes without parental consent is something he loves to ignore, while those happened in bigger numbers than transchildren receiving puberty blockers and not surgery.

There used to be a mandatory waiting period in the US, he is correct about that, and not just that. A person had to present as their gender during this waiting period as a trial to "make sure it was really what they wanted". I'm sure you can imagine why it's a terrible idea to put a trans person through that, especially in states where it's more of a safety risk to be openly trans.

I'm going through the gender clinic right now I was refferred in 2018 and only got seen in 2021 then got prescribed hormones at the end of 2022 (October) I had about 5/6 appointments before getting prescribed t. There's no mandatory waiting period it's just how long the waiting list is. This is infuriating because its no quick fix, the only way it could be 'quick' is going privately which is expensive and out of reach for a lot of youth I was fortunate to go this way due to the pandemic but this is really rare. I've been on t for nearly 3 years and I have constant appointments and bloodwork to check up on me and make sure my levels are happy and healthy.

But the fact that I am autistic doesn't negate the fact that I had gender dysphoria and bottom surgery was an effective treatment for it. These people seem to act like we don't understand what's going on and doctors are taking advantage of us. Yes we can have difficulties understanding our feelings. But that doesn't mean that we aren't trans. We just need a different approach when it comes to autistic trans folks. My transition would have gone a lot smoother if there had been autism specific guidelines in place.
