As someone who has been fighting a battle with anorexia-turned-binge-eating-turned-bulemia-turned-hopefully-better-now-but-we-might-be-getting-too-close-to-anorexia-again for years now... I'm glad Love pointed out how fucked up not disclosing buccal fat removal is. Heroine chic being normalized was what allowed my anorexia to go completely unnoticed by everyone in my family for years.

There is a plastic surgeon RU-vidr who says he refuses to do this procedure anymore. Sometimes it was really hard to find the buccal fat pad and it would stress him out. What if you take out the first one and then can't find it on the other side. And it's irreversible so he can't just put it back

People want a structure that Hila was born with. It looks totally weird on people that do not have the structure for that. that is why they build with filler and implants the other parts of their face to try and make it look balanced.

They’ve been doing this shit for years. They find a new look that is popular and then kids and impressionable people harm themselves just so these rich elite celebrities to change the look the following year. They did it with black/african facial features and this isn’t the first time they’ve done it with body type. It’s fucking heartbreaking and despicable.

Bro I’m straight up chronically ill and severely underweight; my cheekbones look like this naturally because I’m indigenous and now that I’m this small, I look like a skeleton. I don’t like that they make shit like this trendy, when it’s in fact harmful. Not only is fat removal not an ‘aesthetic’, it’s just harmful to promote looking sickly.

When I was in my teens, I got made fun of for being super skinny, called anorexic, etc. Now that I'm in my 30s people just think I'm a cokehead.... So much cooler.

I saw Lea Michele live in "Funny Girl" and my first thought was, "OMG! She has amazing cheekbones!" It was before I knew about this surgery. I met her after the show and she's gorgeous in person. She doesn't look freaky like she does in these pictures. I'll admit, I was jealous. I used to be overweight (I've been on a weight loss journey with Ethan so I'm proud to say that I'm now at a healthy BMI), and I was self conscious about my "fat face." I remember looking at a picture of myself and thinking, "When did I develop jowls?" 🤣That plus my double chin made me really insecure. I'm not saying that people should do this, it does seem extreme, but I can at least say that when you're actually face to face with someone who has had the procedure, it doesn't look strange. It looks really good. (At least in that one case.) I know at the end of the day the lesson is to just be comfortable in your own skin and embrace your "flaws," but that's easier said than done. Especially when you're a female over the age of 30. You're made to feel like if you have any kind of "imperfection," you're somehow lesser of a human being. It goes back to the "fat man bad" thing. Like, you can't have an opinion if you're overweight, which makes ZERO sense! I could actually make the opposite argument...Why would I listen to someone who spends all day in the gym when I could listen to someone who spends all day in a classroom? Or reading books? Or watching the news? Having a six pack doesn't make you knowledgable about anything other than six packs. LOL

The sad part about the buccal fat removal with these stunningly beautiful women, is this happens naturally as we age. Thats huge factor in telling someone's age, in your mid-late 30's, 40's and 50's. The fat that might have been left behind will continuously be lost naturally with age. That's just what happens as we age, we loss that "baby fat" in our face which does age us. By the time these women are in their 40's (probably sooner) they have a huge potential to look much older than 40 because they wanted that snatched look in their 20's/30's. It's sad these doctors may not be fully informing them of this naturally occurring fact. Fat in the face equals youth. Maybe they wanted to have less of a young baby face look at first, because they want more older roles in films or they just wanted to look sculpted in the face, but by the time their in their 30's/40's they could potentially look far older due to the loss of fat that's continuously happening to us naturally as we age. I have a baby face and it's kept me looking like I am still in my 20's (that and sunblock, ya'll I can't stress that enough, wake up and apply sunblock every morning), but to this day I've had men tell me they won't talk to me because I don't look legal. This happened just a couple of weeks ago. Holy crap if they knew my age, I'm probably older than them., I've aged well (Jesus, I don't know how. I don't take care of myself like I should) though I am thin, the fat in my face has helped my skin looking young, and I look like I'm in my early 20's when I'm twice that age. Fat in the face is where it's at ya'lll. Buccal fat removal may make you looked snatched in your 20's, but when you get to your mid 30's and on into your 40's, you look older than you are because we naturally lose more and more fat in our face naturally as we age, so taking away that fat so young is going to age you later on. EXAMPLE: See Demi Moore's pictures. She had already naturally lost fat in her face due to aging, and some doctor told her this would be okay to do in your 60's? Someone needs their licenses suspended. Demi Moore is a great example of what happens when we age and you remove that priceless fat from your face after losing it naturally over the years. You look like her, also her doctor did her dirty it could have been done less severally, he was working on a 60 something year old, not a 20 something year old and he removed to much fat. Fat in your face keeps you looking young. This is my most hated trend because people aren't told of the repercussions that will happen to them in 10-15 years. Or maybe they are and they just don't care. I don't know, either way it's a bad decision for the future. They have a huge chance of looking twice as old as they are in their late 30's/40's and beyond and doctors need to tell them this risk, and I'm not sure they are that transparent about that fact. So sad these women are so beautiful to begin with. No hate to people that have had plastic surgery, I've done some like lip filler and boobs, but this trend is so scary to me because I know most will regret it in 10 or so years and I hate that.

buccal fat removal is obviously stupid but it irks me when everyone’s main argument against it is that it makes you look older, as if looking old is synonymous with bad which only feeds into this ageist mindset. how about just not get the procedure because it’s a dumb trend and not how it will “age” you because aging is not a negative

I got the same look from having teeth removed, although it was entirely unintentional. 💀 (I have had some issues due to impacted wisdom teeth wrecking the alignment and spacing of other back teeth before those were removed too)

i’m ngl, i’ve had this procedure done. but granted, i used to work in facial plastics and i only had to pay for the “operating costs”. but i have an extremely extremely extremely round face, and i’m at a healthy weight. like i would smile and the lower part of my face would jut out cause it was so round. and i don’t have high cheekbones. now in normal facial plastics, they only take out the amount of buccal fat that is easy to get out, there’s still some left but it’s farther back in the face and has more tissue so the procedure becomes not difficult per se but you’re just taking out the right amount. too much and you look gaunt, which is what the celebrities are doing.

It’s weird because I look like I had this done but it was because I bite my cheeks so much it made shadows in my cheeks, I wonder if any celebs had the same problem from nervous ticks and people think they had this surgery done

It takes away the softness. Is it to look more fierce, "dynamic"? It's sad. The only time you need cosmetic surgery is when your quality of life is severely negatively affected due to your appearance (well, its actually due others treating you like you're worthless because you're unattractive).

The sad thing about this is that it's just a trend. In a few years baby face will be back and everyone will want round cheeks. You can never keep up.

If it's not happening already, people in the future will choose surgery that complements smartphone beauty filters, regardless of whether it destroys their real life beauty. Looking good in public will become secondary to looking good in pictures.

It’s so sad seeing this cause pretty much everyone here that did it looked 100% better before the surgery. Each and every one of them went from 8-10 to 5-7. And once they get older they’ll look like some kind of weird creature instead of an actual person.
