Sarcastically says he's the first to figure out using boats in a dispenser... Actually came up with the OG boat dispenser waaayyyyy back in Alpha using water streams. Etho is THE old school innovator for Minecraft. Glad to have been here from the beginning
Etho, you claim to have done just about everything on your vanilla LP world - but one thing I haven't seen you attempt is making a fully custom biome somewhere in your world. It would be a lot of work, but it could be a great opportunity for creative experimentation and to build something unique for your world. Edit: Looks like I forgot about one terraforming project, but there's always room for another.
Not watching other people's builds and just creating things with an architectural mindset is what would make me play Minecraft. Especially when you've gotten to the point in your world where most blocks are easy to get. Custom biomes, house designs etc. is what pulls me back to the game, not just the machinery.
I was watching Etho back in sixth grade I'm graduating and going to college this summer Watching these LP episodes (as scarce as they are) brings me back to better days. Thank you Etho. You rock :D
@@Nakamura2828 it was the thing that made him famous (certainly where the "done technical" bit came from) but was not in a lets play for a bit although fairly shortly
I kinda miss the adventure maps and modded Minecraft, but really pixelmon has been such a pleasant, surprisingly good series that I’m happy to wait a while for new stuff
Jonathan Wroughton I miss terraria series he did with beef and pause. I love etho and I’ve been sub to him for years but vanilla Minecraft is just boring
I had never even seen pixelmon and never played pokemon, now I play pixelmon because of Beef and Etho playing it. It's awesome. Was really getting a bit bored with modpacks after stoneblock.
Etho I think you should do more at your 1.13 underwater base. You were going hard on it for a little bit, until you just up and abandoned it. I feel like there's a lot of inspiration you could take from that area.
Etho tried to start many new bases and none stayed for long sadly. The mini-base is lost, literally. The mountain base died after its minecart storage system proved to be undoable. The jungle base had its tree and that's about it. The underwater base is probably gonna be forgotten soon enough.
I wouldn't agree with 'forgotten' entirely - I'm glad that Etho hasn't pushed on through projects he was no longer inspired to work on. He may revisit them one day, but it's a much greater experience for us and for him when a video comes out and he is genuinely excited for a project, even if that project isn't completely finished and is lost to time eventually. It's still nice rewatching them for inspiration for our own minecraft builds :)
Just been rewatching Uncharted Territory 3, such a classic series for me. I reference so many quotes from that series to myself, more than I probably should haha
I've been watching Etho's old series and in Kaizo Caverns he talks about the whole despawning leaves vs punched leaves. After explaining his test then he gets the criticism that it could be close and he says "well then it doesn't really matter then." He's got a programmer's mind, especially with his stats background. I'm sure if he were to get the motivation he could create his own game.
(+David Brave) So true! All programmers have had thoughts like that. “Instead of the player moving, let’s just make the rest of the world move around them! The player won’t notice the difference.”
@@GogiRegion And the funny thing is, that concept is also important in Einstein's theory of special relativity. If you're inside of a world, then you can't tell the difference between the world moving, or yourself moving. I've watched Etho's videos for a long time, he definitely has very advanced problem solving skills. That's what's kept me watching haha.
Watching this, hearing Etho's voice for the first time in years, I'm in tears... When I started watching you, I would have been around 10 to 11 or so, and the vast memories of watching the letsplay grow were nothing short of amazing. You actually inspired me to start my own LP! (which ended after 20-odd episodes LUL) I then ventured out, and I had a few... difficulties in life. Only recently, when I stumbled across the full soundtrack of mc (I listen to game soundtracks while doing homework), did I realise how much time had really passed, and how the childhood I had, the obsessed-with-minecraft child version of me, the real happy and calm days, have forever gone.. I have always considered you the best survival player ever, and I will always refuse to change that thought. Just a suggestion, what if you started a discord server, or found a way to be even more interactive with the community? I think it would be a good idea, especially for server development and for interactivity with us! Lastly, I just want to thank you, for not abandoning us for all of these years... I love you Etho, you have been and are one of the greatest people on this platform.
Hey, how come this is the first Etho video you've seen in years? Was it just recommended? I'm asking because according to SocialBlade Etho's channel has been stagnant for almost two years until this video.
@@Huntracony One day, I remembered back to my childhood, which was filled with minecraft. And I started just looking through a bunch of nostalgic videos. After a bit, I remembered to how I loved watching etho and I wondered whether his single player lp was still going, so I searched his channel, and that lead me here.
but in Minecraft, is any project really ever "finished" I know I've done most things as well, but I could always add more to the things I've done, but I just don't want to... it's finished enough hahaha.
I loved it every time you played a CTM map. Have rewatched the series a couple of times now and it would be amazing if you could try out a new map again :D
I'm watching his older episodes atm, around Episode 230-240 (which he recorded approximately 7 years ago), he already told us about a creative dry phase and that he was in a rut while playing vanilla MC and that it'd be something else with the PVP and modded series - and here he is, nevertheless, with new output. I think he's doing the best he can.
@@Sapsche Yeah, I also recommend a rewatch. I only watch this world though, I got in late on the Minecraft train. A simple google question will tell you the episode.
Holy crap this comment just flashed my life right before my eyes, just reminded me how long I've been watching and how much nostalgia every video brings back
Etho resurfaced in my recommendations after years, and he's still going strong. His voice has become so much more upbeat than in previous episodes. It's just... I want to watch Etho now again, and see how he's changed after 300 episodes and years. Nostalgia is coursing through me all the sudden. Love ya, Etho, you never stop being you. Also, 2 mil subs. God damn.
Etho, to be real you have the coolest minecraft world I have ever, and will ever see! No matter what you do in this world it always amazes me to see the surroundings and the absolute gargantuan size of it. I have been a long time fan and love your videos man, thanks for the awesome content.
etho's world is dope. haver you seen bdoubleo's building world? its crazy, you should check it out. it's similar to etho's in terms of size and age, but im fairly certain he has used creative in it a bit. anyways, check it out.
@@knowhere4361 I think the only creative aspect hes used is when he copies a tree he made in his creative world and moves it to his survival world. However, the few times he's done so, he has always sacrificed resources in order to justify the use of using creative since some of his custom trees are just way to big that it would take up too much time to do in survival.
@@knowhere4361 Oh yeah my dude, BdoubleO was one of the originals who got me playing the game. The B-team on the old Mindcrack servers were awesome. I miss that server man, those were simpler times.
Etho-your custom modpack series that you played 2/3 three years ago was a ton of fun to watch. A revival of that would be amazing! I remember your nice fishing village and mountain project. Very cool unexplored ideas!
Real talk Jacklin with the cleverbot voiceover plugin was one of the funnest things I've watched etho do haha. The idea of Etho as some kind of crazy scientist with an AI assistant who mouths off at him all the time was hilarious. It's like the silliest kind of on-demand co-commentary.
While I agree with you, I believe he stopped because he was having a lot of trouble trying to get the mods to work together. If I recall correctly he said something like he was spending more time trying to keep the mods working than he was actually playing so it became impractical to continue.
Me: *Is rewatching season 2 of mindcrack, with all the boats, and boat dispensers in “Ethopia” Etho: *creates an episode heavily featuring boat dispensers and boats”
etho i think the reason the launcher wasn't working consistently with you in the boat is because you were holding forward, if you let it launch you into the air first and then start holding forward, it should work more consistently. i was able to get it to work in my game with your design
damn... i almost forgot about ethos for a while, i remember watching you 7 years ago, im 19 now and holy crap does time flies, don't let the flame burn out my man, you're amazing!
Hi Etho, i would love to see you do some low efford series Like an adventure map, where you don't really have offscreen time. We get regular Videos and you can almost record the whole thing in one go. (Maybe Team Canada Action? That would be more work again tho...) Love your videos, always did
Etho, the definition of a genuine man. a man so great he steer'd most of my childhood. My 21st birthday will be soon and this is the first time im being notified of an Ethoslab video in my sub box. i havent seen a video since ep. 200 of the "Lets Play series". I just wanted to thank you very much for saying true to your subscribers and never changing to match the rest of youtube. Were near 2 million subs and im proud of you, man. been here since 40k. sincere, eli.
I enjoyed the relaxed vibe of this video. Just hearing you talk about your life and watching you do any monotonous task in minecraft is entertaining enough.
i miss the modded survival, the one with the steampunk city, bandit camp, floating island, ocean city, etc. I know it got laggy and that's why it ended but maybe you could bring something similar back with a smaller modpack?
Thank you for the transitions - haven't laughed out loud like that in a while. :) Idea for things to do in this world: Revisit your other locations (amplified base, slab city, mini-base (which isn't erased right?)) and see if you can add something to those. I think we all enjoy you just doing some small projects, like you did in this episode.
@@FaiienWings Etho has such a terrible memory and sense of direction lol. It's in the mountains near the second stronghold he found in his world, east from the man cave.
If you're running low on ideas, why not build a zoo of all the different mobs? Sort of like project Pokémon but not just villagers and give each mob a custom enclosure.
In a really REALLY old vis he did do it although from an earlier 1.8 update you had trouble with the monster going in 3 directions, why not fill in the other 2 directions with cars or dogs (zombies will always go to villagers) so it is like -north cat -East dog -south dog cat villager -west blocked off at top so only baby zombies can go through with villagers there
@@charlieyu2050 you're thinking of the mob sorter at the stronghold base. What OP is referring to is like having one of each mob on display. It would be an interesting challenge for Etho, especially having to transport mobs like shulkers from end cities. Etho did mention it as an idea years ago but never spoke of it again.
I miss the more technical episodes you used to do all the time way back then. It's gotten to a point where your inventions are still used by many (nowadays mainly the Etho clock and possibly the hopper dropper trick - which comes with its own song!!! - because stuff tend to break over time) and when other minecrafters use them and mention you I feel pride of you and proud to be a part of your community. On the other hand, I also understand that the technical community has evolved greatly since then, to a point where people decompile the game to find the most optimal farms and whatnot, but I still believe that technical but not-too-technical videos are still viable, just look at Mumbo for example. The other main thing I miss from you is indeed an SMP vanilla series. I'm a very long time watcher and I'm proud to be able to say I've watched most of your videos. I was here for Mindcrack, heck I was even here before Chocolate Island was a thing! Anyway, I'm getting sidetracked here... My point is, although I've loved most of your videos so far, most of the time the best ones were from SMP series. And though I love your Pixelmon series, I feel like it's still missing things that maybe only vanilla Minecraft can provide. To give you an example, just look at what's happened so far on the Hermitcraft server: the game of Tag, a very high number of pranks in very little time leading to an all out war where the hermits built impressive and creative builds, traps and weapons... To be fair, I'm not asking for a Hermitcraft series, you've stopped the last one and you have your reasons. Instead I'm begging (yes because I'm desperate!) for you to become a honorary Hermit who contributes to big events and pranks (though more is always better in this case). Just look at DocM mentionning you and wearing your face in multiple episodes of his own series... I'm not the only one waiting for this! (The next big event is the hermits trying to kill 100 withers, it's going go horribly, but it will be fun!)
At one point in the past long long ago, I was on a server with mob-griefing turned off (this means mobs can't destroy blocks for anyone who doesn't know, and it helps against creepers, endermen, withers, and ghasts). On that server, (a role-play/SMP server,) I quickly became one of the strongest people on the server. We were a medium-ish sized 8-15 people. One day while chatting with one of the server mods. I asked him if he could help me with a challenge I had given myself that would've taken too long (by normal standards at the time), to kill tons of withers at once. I asked him to create a rather large box and fill it with 5-25-50 and finally, 100 withers. The box was maybe 10 high (to prevent the withers from flying away) and 25x25 wide. I ate a single Notch Apple (they could be crafted using gold blocks back then) and used Protection IV on all my diamond armor, along with a Sharpness V sword (it was better than smite at the time because smite didn't affect the wither back then due to a bug I think? Can't remember exactly). I think I also used a Strength potion and a few Instant Health II potions (splash). Most of the withers ended up shooting each other. It was very easy and the whole 100 of them died within around 5 minutes. I imagine without a roof that the Hermitcraft version will be nowhere close to the same. (also this was before Elytra became a thing so as a note, Prot IV chestplate > Elytra when fighting a wither because the Prot IV across all armor piecies negates wither damage entirely)
Etho! Good to see you, buddy! :) I always love resource gathering, mini projects, and story time with Etho. I've got nearly the exact same sleep problems. I tend to sleep 6 OR 12 hours, then be awake for 16-20 hours. Thank you for mentioning FoolCraft! (I don't mind when a series ends; I just like to know when it's official.) Thank you for the episode and I hope you have a fantastic day! :)
Watching Etho brings me back to the good old days. It calms me down, rids me of the stress. Thank you Etho. Thank you for still doing this. It really helps.
Etho! TNT explosions are to drop all blocks it explodes! This is a game changer. Maybe you could do something with it? Thanks for sticking with the series and working through creative burnout. The fact that you've been able to keep an entertaining vanilla let's play series entertaining for this long is already an amazing achievement. Lots of love. (Also, villages should be fun in 1.14)
@@Frish__ as a very social and outgoing person who can read anyone like a book and who has also watched the first 30 seconds of the video, I can confidently say they're dead serious
Hey Etho! Not getting sleepy usually happens when i look at a screen (bright) for too long, try installing flux or something like it and have it switch to yellow and decrease the brightness at the evenings/nights. Might not be good for video when you want to record, but it will save your eyes and your mind. Have a good one!
No idea how long it’s been since I watched a etho video but idk about everybody else but this dude really is apart of my childhood. I’m 18 years old and I started watching this guy in 2012 and that’s wild to think about ... im really gonna look back at this when I’m older.
Etho-I truly hope you see this. I used to come home when I was bullied everyday and watch your videos until I went to bed to ease the pain. 6 years later, I get recommended one of your videos out of the blue and start bawling because of the memories of that time and how you helped me. You will always truly have a special spot in my heart- Thank you, Etho.
I think that a lot of us have similar memories to yours. I found Etho about 5-6 years ago and watching his videos during any time I could to avoid thinking about the bullies I had to deal with every day. At one point I lost interest in minecraft and was better off in my life but then one day I saw a video pop up in my recommended and decided to come back to watching him again. Etho's Lab Let's Play is nostalgia for a lot of people, be it good times or bad I think we can all agree that Etho was the good.
Ethos suddenly came up on my feed. It truly it feels nostalgic watching him after all these years and it’s honestly great seeing him enjoying the game. Made me just dust off my old xbox and just load up Minecraft. A lot has changed, but it feels great just playing the games. Those simple times.
Etho. for your 2M Sub Milestone, you should attempt to recreate Chocolate Island in your LP world. I think a lot of us long time viewers would get a kick out of that :D
i freakn love that “youve been etho’d” giant mural everytime i see it. always thought that it was well done. good effect on the depth on it and choice of background
I don't think there is anything I particularly miss from your older videos, except maybe the nostalgia. I've watched you continuously grow as a youtuber, and I'm very grateful that you've managed to stick to your principles this whole time. Thank you for being you! Also, good luck maintaining your sleep schedule :)
@@sexyeli1728 etho noticed people called him "ergo" in the comments somewhat often, and he brought it up in an episode. I believe he assumed it was from autocorrect but wasn't sure, and was asking his viewers about it... And ever since then, people call him "ergo" instead of etho.
Hey Etho, since you're running out of things to do on this world, why don't you start a new world; From within this current world? You could drop everything and go off to some distant land(kinda like you did with the Amplified Base) but leave all your good tools/equipment/builds behind and essentially start anew. Then, once the new base is established and you've built a bunch of stuff(say 10, 15 episodes or so?) you can come back to the main part of your world, and you'll have another project to periodically come back to. It could be a good way to inject the series with fresh content. Just a suggestion. Also good to hear you've gotten your sleep schedule figured out- I know exactly how that feels to be off your rocker cause you're not getting proper sleep. XD
@@TaIathar So maybe it's time for Season 3! @Etho think about starting from scratch in 1.14. Sure, you'll need to solve the same problems but I'm sure you'll find different ways. ;)
Por Etho I feel bad for him and I can totally relate. If you read this just know you are my favourite youtuber and I will support you for what you are rather than what you do in the game like i hace donde don the las 4 year's . If you would like to take a break you don't have to feel bad about it we would watch whatever you do even if it is uncut 30 minute videos 😉 Btw sorry for the bad English! Much love from Spain
I've missed this series. I have been waiting so long to see you playing on this world I want to see more of your experimenting with redstone and game mechanics. I didn't watch for a long time, starting in chocolate island, to build up a buffer so I could binge watch you and it took a month to catch up. I have been current for about a year now and I want to see more, I even went back and watched all the series that were short. I really want to see you on Hermitcraft in real time. I only started watching it when Grian joined, but the one thing I thought was 'I want to see him and Etho interact'. I love listening to you and watching you play. Keep having fun with it!
Hey Etho I’ve been watching for almost 6 years, I realize it isn’t even for minecraft I don’t even play it anymore. It’s just to watch you and the progression of the world. Thank you for so many years of entertainment!
Also don't push yourself to do videos that you don't enjoy making, seeing you having so much fun with pixelmon really came through in the series and that makes it so freakin good.
This comment will probably get lost, but I think that you should play other games that you like on camera. You don't have to keep going on MC if you're feeling burned out, I've always enjoyed the other games you've picked out to play (terraria, dont starve, etc.). Don't feel afraid to branch out, we've all been at that point of burnout.
A lot of us enjoy his extra content, but... the sad thing is the statistics say otherwise if you check any of his other videos. I dunno how much this matters to Etho, but he has mentioned it as a concern before, so... Unfortunately much of his viewerbase won't even give other stuff a shot. (I quite liked his No Man's Sky LP for example and would have actually enjoyed a singleplayer version of it, he actually convinced me to buy the game after seeing "hey, this isn't anywhere near as bad as I heard." even with them stumbling around constantly lol) I dunno what he could do about this besides just like bite the bullet and accept lower views, but I think he fears if he phases out minecraft content in general his channel might actually die. (Which is a valid concern!) But I'm not Etho so I can't answer you properly. x:
Hey Etho, what about Terraria is EZ? It's one of my favorite series you've done. You mentioned possibly playing it again. Is there any chance of it coming back?
Hey etho I love to watch this series, it's very peacefull, you're taking your time. For some ideas : what about redoing the soil of the lake ? or more path and some trees like you said ? maybe more fields, flowers ? and what about making an area for game integrated in the landfield ? well thank you for your episode, take a good care of you :)
You could make a custom bossfight using red stone, make a fantasy biome ( think blue mushroom in terraria), make a cloud village that farms clouds (snow) make an improved jungle temple, make a material pusher( pushes blocks for eternity) make your own painting,
Gotta say, I love the let's play episodes. Etho can play anything and I'll probably watch, but these are my favorite. I remember back before episode 200, to see how far this one world has gone is amazing. EDIT: watching this through all I can say is RIP Eth'sRoad.
Etho.. about your sleeping schedule, have you heard of Non-24 or DSPD? The symptoms you described seem to match those pretty well. You might wanna look into it.
I will also look into it. Apart from the insomnia, I can say I have the exact same thing as Etho, it‘s insane, how every point he described matches me exactly D:
that open spot (24:37) for a small village with the new 1.14 villagers, or a cattle farm, making it feel more alive. had a huge smile on my face a boat that boat dispenser. thx for that.
you know, I forgot how old that world was. Then I noticed all of the creeper-blown cobble-filled holes... that's honestly pretty cool that you can stay with a world so long. I appreciate what you do etho, keep up the good work!
I'm glad you found some inspiration for the let's play world! I have been following it for about seven years and it's always a comfort to watch your new content :)
