Yes thanks for this EthosMath. Etho's videos have become so valuable to me and my day. Like, not many things give me a hit of dopamine like seeing one of his videos in my feed.

Muskar like I said, advice is only somebody’s opinion. But personally i believe in order to be strong you must first be weak. Pain is a necessary inconvenience.

I mean European bees are technically invasive species. And bees aren't the only pollinators. Flies, mosquitos, and a ton of other bugs pollinate too. Also I think if you want to care about bees, care about your native bee species. There are other bees besides European bees.

@@username-rs4vf European bees? Invasive? What are you smoking? The European bee is a very docile species that's perfect for honey production. If you want to cry about an invasive bee species then you are looking for the Africanized bee aka Killer bee, which absolutely murders everything in its path.

@@Adolf1Extra I'm not saying they're killing anything I'm saying they are not vital to supporting the environment that they aren't native to. So supporting European bee colonies in non native areas isn't necessarily the best for the native ecosystem.

@YourFace Another Insects do in fact pollinate, but there are many edible plants that ONLY bees pollinate that need them, but there would still be a considerable amount of plants that do rely on insects still surviving just fine without bees.

These bees were instead brought to North America in the early 17th century by Europeans. Therefore, they are an invasive species throughout all of North America. It should also be noted that many other insects pollinate besides honey bees. Flies and mosquitoes do in fact pollinate flowers, North America also has the Bumblebee, the Carpenter bee, butterflies, moths, wasps, beetles, and even hummingbirds all pollinate flowers. It is true that the European Bee is "perfect for honey production" and this is why it was brought to the Americas in the first place. That does not mean they are not invasive.

I'm a bit dubious about the mortgage vs rent though, there are _many_ advantages to renting so I don't think taking a mortgage is the right choice for many people

In my country, cars are quite expensive. Like super expensive. As much as it will be convenient, I doubt I will be able to afford one

@@Koushakur Name *one* advantage to renting that isn't "you don't go into debt if you lose your job". Advantages of mortgaging: you eventually stop paying, you get to keep the house afterwards, you have no landlord, inflation works in your favor. If you have financial stability, renting is literally a waste of money.

​@@Sheriff6170 Sure, mortgages are often best if you know you'll live the same place for 30 years or so. Some downfalls of a mortgage are that: 1. you're likely to make a terrible purchase on your first house, making you instantly greatly indebted, having to do sizable investments and effort into fixing up the house and make it durable enough to get yourself out of the debt that you would get from selling the house (unless you're able to sell to another victim who makes a terrible trade as well). 2. you're essentially investing in the housing market, with a loan. Generally housing is seen as a stable investment but as we saw in 2008 that's not a guarantee (and some economists say the prior issues weren't really fixed, meaning they expect it to happen again soon enough) - I'd agree that the only long-term stable asset is real estate, because it's finite and always in demand. But you have to be ready to be forced to live in the same place for maybe a decade or two, if a housing bubble happens when you own it. 3. interest and rescheduling loans can be very expensive in the first half of the mortgage, and is in a way the bank taking a cut of your future possible earnings of owning the house. Your landlord will be responsible for fixing major issues that might occur (on top of insurance claims), so long as you have a proper contract and live in a country with a proper legal system, allowing you to spend your time on other things. 4. You can live in a much smaller and cheaper space than is usually possible with mortgages, allowing you to invest more in higher earning assets than housing - which is great to do, the younger you are. But above all, if you want an optimal solution, then other people's advice on what's "generally best" is a bit moot. It's easily surpassed by doing some detailed budgeting yourself, to see what pays out best for you, with a setup that you trust you can live with.

​@@Muskar2 I see an underlying flaw in most of your arguments: you're assuming that buying a house is an investment, yet it's more like a purchase, buying a place to live. Also, this is more of a me specific argument, but I'm not from the US. Here in Lithuania my parents bought the apartment they live in for a fifth of the price it costs now (granted, real estate was super cheap in USSR and right after gaining independence, since communism makes housing cheap by default, they literally gifted apartments to people if they had a stable job). Also, our country is small enough to live in the same place forever, since crossing an entire city would take like 15-20 min if there was no traffic. I don't personally know a single person who moved, other that kids moving out their parents home.

SAME! i think etho was one of the first minecraft youtubers i watched, starting around 12/13. Sure, there was a couple years in high school where i just wasnt interested anymore, but i went through my subscriptions one day and was like oh! etho! im still subscribed! hes still making minecraft! this was.....last year maybe? idk. but i dont think ill stop watching anytime soon

@@ionmeth2031 actually you have to be careful with dried fruits, they can contain a lot more sugar than the fresh counterparts, especially raisins I heard there's like 60-70g of sugar for every 100g of raisins, cause grapes as they are already contain a lot of sugar (roughly 10g for every 100g of grapes)

You dont have control over everything in the present (you really have almost no control), but that's nice and it's ok. The problem is blaming your lack of control for you never doing anything. The real advice is: the closest anything is to you, the more control you have over it or anything like that. So, go and do what you need now. If you have almost no control over the present, you have 0 control over the future.

Sofi if something is close to you that doesn’t necessarily mean it’s in your control because anything can be manipulated. But I see why you would say that and it does depends on the arena oneself is in. Living in the present is reality but if you think too far ahead you’ll leave room for error. A watched pot never boils 💯

@@malign3158 Etho lives in the man cave cause when he started the second season LP he still wasn't confident building. Also he doesn't enjoy the exterior as much as the interior. He has talked about this in earlier videos and other series.

Why would you even craft more than 1/2 cakes in your let's play minecraft, he crafts 2 stacks of dispensers every few episodes, cakes are useless

Just to clarify: the point of my comment is point out that cakes are more annoying to craft than dispensers per unit. Of course I’m aware that, for most people, dispensers are a more frequently encountered annoying crafting recipe than cakes. And because cakes are tradable you technically don’t even need to craft them. Those two things don’t take anything away from the truth of the statement that cakes are more annoying to craft than dispensers per unit.

I was watching on an iPad. Mobile. Apple. I was so confused for a second, and even more confused when Etho somehow heard it too and commented on it. Then I realised...

Indeed, even if you don't want to copy it 1:1, he gave me some awesome deeper insights into the mobspawning conditions to boost rates to the max.

Thats the first thing that came to my mind was ilmango's witch farm videos. He is truly a witch farm master and Etho could use some ideas, not to copy whole thing, just like Phildor said. Also its cute when Etho said "we have witch farm in our world" and skycraft has 24 :D

Ethos witch farm was also designed like that, he just forgot to go up to the platform.

I'm not sure what Etho's stance on this is, but my friends have told me to look up farm designs and I've always hated it. What 's the point of playing the game if you're just gonna do what everybody else does? It's like playing Terraria but looking up all the easiest ways of defeating the bosses.

I think Etho doesn't like to use other people's designs, but I don't think there's anything wrong with using someone else's design once or twice just for utility's sake.

I’ve been regularly watching Etho since I was 14 and now I’m 24. He had been uploading about 2 years on RU-vid at the time. I remember binge watching his entire backlog of videos for 2 months straight during summer break. My only regret is skipping series I didn’t like because he probably shared cool stories and advice like this that would have been helpful now later in life.

mopsnuf Sure! It’s really simple things I want to have in my daily routine. Eat at least two meals a day. Workout (I put in a good hour of simple exercises right after this video thanks to Etho!).

mopsnuf Essentially I just don’t want to sit around everyday watching my life pass me by. As a 20 year old in this day and age it feels everything moves so fast while I’m stuck playing catch-up

That sounds commendable! I’ve recently taken in a viewpoint from the Cortex podcast - just to say I didn’t think of it myself: I prefer setting a ‘theme’ of what you want to work on over a ‘goal’, as goals are often pass/fail and as such demotivating. Try to think about what you want to work on around once a day, and indeed formulate and execute actions in line with your theme. Take from this what you want!
