Etho Plays Minecraft - Episode 548: Nether Mapping 

Personally I don't want a restart, this world is a piece of history.

Part of the charm and excitement of this LP is the world age. Seeing old farms, old terrain, previous glitches and etc from other versions of Minecraft is really cool, and you only get that history by keeping a world for so long. Personally I'll never get tired of you building more farms, as you said, everyone is different! And MC is ever changing so even an old world feels fresh.

Please do not restart. Part of the appeal is seeing how the world evolves over time. You have something already with this world

Don't start a new world, I love this one, and I feel like you did just start a new one with hermit craft.

Restarting your world sounds like one of those things that would be fun for about a week before you realise your not playing on nearly 7 year old world anymore with all your insane machines and memories. So I would suggest continuing the world for as long as you reasonably can. (Or until you finish the library because thats the real end game)

I can see the appeal of a new world but that certainly isn't the case for Ethos world. I wanna see 1000 episodes on this world and see every huge crazy project that Etho can come up with!

The only reason to ever restart a world is that it gets corrupted. Restarting just to see the early game of mining with bad tools and barely having any resources is boring, especially seeing as that's only going to last for a few episodes. At that point you'll only play a world for a month at a time, and there's just no point to that.

The beauty of Minecraft is that it's never ending. If etho really craved a fresh playthrough, he could host it in an entirely different corner of his world. That's what's great about this game. It lets you roleplay like that. He could start fresh within the same world and not lose all his stuff.

please don't listen to people begging for a restart. I've been playing in the same world since 2013, its competely doable. people who suggest restarting don't know how much endgame stuff there is to do.

i think keeping this world alive and re-inventing it over and over is something not everybody can achieve AND having a long running world in itself is a exceptional achievement!

Keep this word forever, there’s no reason to start a new single player world just keep making the best Minecraft world ever, no reason to loose ten years of progress just to rebuilt stuff differently.

Last time he had a BIG PROJECT in mind we spent like a year watching him build the nexus so I can not wait to see what it is as long as he puts a roof on it

While I agree with the majority of people in the comments saying "don't restart", if you do want to, I suggest just going very far away in your current world instead, so that when you do want to go back, you can integrate this 'new world' as another project into your old LP world.

There's something inherently unique about your world, how it was originally a pre 1.0 world that's been converted after the fact into an amplified terrain world. IDK i just feel like there's something great about that and if you do start a new world, maybe build it up similarly because there's character in that world gen and how you've handled a lot of your projects.

Historically, when you’ve wanted a fresh start, you’ve just explored new territory in your existing world. I absolutely think you should never start a new world unless literally the game can’t run your world for whatever reason. The world is nearly infinite. Why start totally new when you can do all the exploring and experimenting but remove so much of the grind. Plus the nostalgia of running through parts of the world that are older than comparators is amazing. And updating farms to new mechanics is also such unique content. So I’m definitely in support of always keeping the same save file.

“There’s only so many times you can rebuild existing farms before it becomes stale” That’s exactly what happens if you start a new world. You have to rebuild everything. Old worlds let you do whatever you want, because you have all the resources you need, and you already have the farms.

starting a new world is kind of redundant. you'd just end up doing the same things again. that's why the modded serieses are so good. you start over in a new world but it's completely different from the vanilla world

When I get bored of a world I don’t start a new one. Instead I put all my items away, grab a boat and travel far away and start a new base, then I connect both bases up before starting a new one. In the end I have a massive base, and I keep adding onto it. I really suggest you try this, it’s really fun.

To me, I feel like HermitCraft is sort of Etho's new lets play series and I love watching all the new stuff in that world. Hopefully Etho stays with the group for the season and future seasons, as a second Lets Play world, sorta

The dead horse gets beaten again, so here's my stance on it. Starting new worlds in Minecraft is a drag. If you're someone who has place this game since '09, then you've likely made countless worlds every few months, or once a year or so. Maybe you kept them, maybe you didn't but one thing is always consistent: Minecraft's early game is BORING. It baffles me how Notch thought his game was "finished" when he left the project. I don't want to watch someone go mine iron, make their first anvil, grind to level 30 then die in a dumb way because of impatience during the early game. An established world is a happy world. A world where Diamond is useless because you have villagers set up and you've got a full Netherite beacon at every corner of your home. That's where the good stuff is, because then you can focus on creating something off of your own head rather than doing what you "have" to do to progress. Chocolate Island was abandoned because 90% of it broke with an update and fixing it would've meant building everything from the ground up anyway, but the era of whole worlds breaking each update is long gone, and unless this world gets corrupted beyond repair, I say stick with.

Why would Etho restart? He doesn't made a perimeter or a wolf farm or something completely ridiculous yet.

From what I can tell, in the early stage of a survival game, the entertainment value is in seeing what players do with the limited resources they have. How ever, watching veteran players in that situation just does not provide as much value as what they are doing end game. At least in my opinion, I would preffer keeping the same world. (Might I suggest starting another custom map series?)

I think it’s funny how this world is like 9 years old yet he hasn’t made any end game farms yet. Example: wither skeleton farm, portal based iron farm, wither rose farm, etc

One of the only constants in my life is that Etho always has unfinished projects. It’s reassuring. I’m also pretty sure if the library is ever finished the world will end.

Hi Etho! I think what makes your LP so unique on RU-vid, apart from your talent of course, is the fact that it started so long ago while still remaining fresh and gorgeous! You should not restart your world as this inspires players like myself to keep improving their world and themselves despite any challenges. Despite tons of updates that messed up contraptions, you were always able to reinvent yourself and improve your world, using the many additions to the game, including new blocks and mechanics. I have been watching every video on your channel since you restarted your LP and I wish you'll continue it forever! It holds a special place in my heart and in your many many many other long term viewers. It has been wonderful to watch you improve yourself over all these years so keep up the good work! I cannot wait to see your future projects!

Ooo can’t wait to hear more about this “end game” project you wanna do, I agree, though restarting brings its own fun I don’t see any need to do so currently, you’ve reached a really good place where you can build pretty much anything you want with minimal need for grinding resources and I personally enjoy your more complex builds like the ender porter system and the nexus and pixel, and all the mini games. Would be a while before you could do things like that again if you were to start over.

Hey Etho, because of the upcoming world tour, I had an idea. Maybe, on top of the LP world tour, you could do a bunch of mini world tours from your other series, such as your old modded single player series, crash landing, or old seasons of terrafirmacraft. Might be a cool way for some new viewers to see what you’ve accomplished without having to watch every one of your old videos. Maybe similarly to your alpha and beta world tours? Anyway, just a thought, keep up the great work!

Etho! I've been watching your videos for more than half a decade, and I can say that this series has never felt stale. Even when I stopped playing Minecraft myself, and stopped watching most other Minecraft RU-vidrs, I have always looked forward to everything you post. Whether it be Hearthstone, the Let's Play, or a Co-op Adventure Map, You always seem to find the enjoyment to be had, even when it feels like everything has been said and done. I'm really enjoying the recent episodes where you revisit old projects and work toward completing them. It's a real nostalgia trip!

Hey etho personally I love the old world as even though I haven't been here from the very beginning I feel as though I can still experience snippets of the history that is your world the history and longevity of the world just adds to the character of your videos I'm loving the content recently, keep up the great work!

The ender-porter system reminds me of one of my terraria worlds where I had a chain of portal gun stations to traverse the whole world in a matter of seconds. It wasn't practical or cheap, but the idea of infrastructure to fold time and space is very rewarding. Also, do you ever dream in minecraft? That happened to me when I first bought the game, but you have vastly more exposure to it than any of us. It's a weird feeling to have games bleed into real life dreams.

Don't restart, the best part of this series is that the world has been arround so long that old things we forgot about years ago can be revisited. It also really brings out imagination and creativity trying to make farms that people usually don't think about like the nether trader outpost or the mushroom farm. Additionally a longer world means a better looking one and seeing your creativity in that regard always inspires me

Terraria 1.4: introduces pylons, a new favorite system (I think most people would agree). Minecraft: "Write that down!" Minecraft: Ender porters now work consistently.

I will say that one thing I *really* like about this series is that the world has been here for such a long time and there are so many vintage contraptions from older versions of the game. It feels like a legitimate achievement that you've kept it going all this time!
