In this video titled EU4 A to Z - Can I MAKE Great Britain VIKING AGAIN I do a playthrough as Denmark in Europa Universalis 4 1.33 France. This is the series titled A to Z where I attempt to play every* nation in EU4 in alphabetical order. Of course, I had to remove some nations, so the challenge doesn't get too boring. In this video I play as the nation of Denmark, and I attempt to get the achievement called The Iron Price. So, let's see if I managed to do it! I hope you guys enjoy this series. As a tip I heard from Florryworry, devving up subjects is to be used only when absolutely necessary as a short term fix. As high development is a major factor in calculating liberty desire in subject nations- so unless you absolutely need a quick fix to liberty desire, or their development is a negligible factor in their liberty desire- you shouldnt dev up subjects.

17:10 Above the "Declare war" button is a button with a red and green arrow. There you can see what the nations think of each other.

For Desmond. The Desmond Tutu challenge. Be Anglican, own South Africa, have a Theologian, complete Humanist idea group, enforce peace on someone (he won the peace price after all). If Anglican doesn't spawn I guess you have to go Protestant or Reformed.

You can see the opinion of two nations by going to the diplomacy screen on that country and clicking on "Show opinion of country name" or by the shortcut "s". You can also get it by the mapmode "opinion" on diplomatic mapmode.

There is ancient mythology that says that the Irish came to Ireland from Iberia. With that in mind maybe make the Iberians pay the Shamrock Price and culture convert the regions of Galicia, Asturias, Leon, and Berias to Irish.

How to take Lubeck as Denmark: wait til the Emperor isn’t Austria, then annex Lubeck with conquest cb. After this, you’ll probably get a notif from the Emperor about ceding hre lands back to them or whatever. Deny this and carry on, if you want to keep the lands, that is. If some hre members join a coalition against you, improve relations as much as you can with the Emperor and whatever electors have joined the coalition as much as possible. Prioritize the militarily strongest electors first (like Brandenburg), but above all, improve relations with the Emperor. Also, you should have every single one of your diplomats working on this. Improve relations, send gifts, give subsidies, even ally or rm some of them if you want. After all that they should calm down. Recruit a merc army or two though, just in case.

You can see country relations on the diplo page and see their relations, just hover for a bit, or you can use the relations map, it has the green heart, select a country and see it

Desmond has the city of Cork. It is know for a few things, but one of them is for the "foodies" where people eat a lot. So take every "food" province in Europe, such as Hamburg and Friesland

The way to see their opinion of eachother is to go to the opinion mapmode and click on the country, then hover over the other country.

Hey Hawk, if you left click on the money button it shows how much the country is willing to give you, so if you're over 100% it will reset to add up to 100%, also I didn't know you could reduce a country's independence by devving them so cheers :)

I can't remember if Desmond will be your first Irish minor in the A-Z challenge that you will play. (I haven't played any Irish minors yet). But I think it would be cool if you colonize the Thirteen Colonies. As if the Irish had the potato famine in the 1400s

For Desmond (or any Irish nation) try and run away before taking any more land (but vassals are fine) to reverse the strategy of running to Ireland other nations use. You could run to Africa or the Americas. Americas might take longer in-game time, but you can just let the game run quickly until colonialism becomes a thing, since you don't need to do a lot.

Can you use Colonization to make the culture conversion faster in England? I have never really messed with a colonial nation since they updated all the different types of colonies etc. I still forget to click the button to actually send the Colonist a lot of the time because they added another click there. I am old and brainslow.

No. Before the "home" province turned into your primary culture and religion when the Expel Minorities colony finished. This used to cost diplo points. Now it's free, but the "home" province stay as whatever culture and religion it used to be, and a certain amount of development is moved from the "home" province to the colony. So, you could technically make it *cheaper* to culture convert since the province loses dev, but not faster overall. In order for Expel Minorities to even be an option you need the same criteria as culture conversion, so you still have to wait for separatism anyway.

I REALLY hope as part of the baltic update, they allow you as Denmark, Sweden, or Norway to convert to paganism and use the nordic gods. I think it would be cool to have a mission or event that lets you convert and get cool missions and flavor text.

Having Norse paganism in 1444 is pretty wack, by then even the peasantry of Scandinavia had been firmly converted to Christianity. Having some flavour for to Sápmi animism makes more sense.

@@AnglosArentHuman EU4 is in itself wack man. You could have the Aztecs own Moscow in this game. I know the game likes to go for historical realism, but it also ahs PLENTY of silly alt history ideas too. So I don't think it would be a bad idea to add.

@@mainmarco All the alt-hist in EU4 is based on things *after* the start date being different. Burgundy not being inherited and partitioned, Byzantium turning back the tide against the Ottomans, etc. For Norse Scandi to make sense you'd need a point of divergence way before the start date. And even if you didn't, what would we even get? I'd rather have something unique instead of "here's a low effort reskin of Hindu deities that can raid coasts and raize provinces" CK3's navigable rivers make Norsemen way more mechanically interesting than anything they'd slap onto EU4 would, imho.

18:35 ever since paradox updated the AI to "focus on the smallest coalition member first" wars have often turned into absolute shit shows. Like, sure the idea is solid, but the AI is really bad at prioritizing stuff. In my France game I allied Lithuania and had them distract HRE armies while I sieged down Austrian provinces unopposed. ... a bit dumb.

It's not as strange as it may seem, privateers from Algiers did raid Cornwall and took local people as slaves historically. I have heard the story of a peasant who lived in Cornwall, was taken captive by the Algerian privateers and lived as a slave in North Africa, faked a conversion to Islam in order to get freedom and then escaped and arrived in Southern Italy, when he was put under process twice by the Inquisition.
