although i agree that it is a slow-ish paced mod, it is balanced for hard campaign with medium battles and conquest is a lot faster that way. playing on vh/vh will obviously not be the ideal experience. try the mod yourself before you critic it

@@adrianbundy3249 no, vanilla ai and ai in mods is different. Playing this mod with hard/ medium will be more challenging than playing with the same difficulty in vanilla m2. I've played vh/vh in both (mod and vanilla) and it's not even comparable. Anyway, i think it's a great mod with lots of interesting mechanics that weren't showcased but it's up to u. Cheers

In case anyone is interested, the battle pacing can be fixed in 30 seconds: Open the file "battle_config.xml" (in Medieval II Total War\Mods\EBII\data) and change the value for "" from "0.35" to "1.00". That's it. The battles will play out at a more "normal" speed (comparable to vanilla Rome/M2TW).

@@LegendofTotalWar well having watched the first livestream it looks like you werent missing all that much. the main thing that would make the game more fun would be establishing and expanding roman colonia in italy which will allow romanization to take hold and more and faster recruitment of roman troops. the local troops (celts greeks etc) suck and cant be relied on (except the cav and yeah cav isnt where its at in this game except maybe the super heavy eastern stuff, i dont know ive never used it). so building lex colonia creando->colonia latina minora->colonia latina maiora building chain in italian territories is essential as this is the building chain that allows romanization and troops blahblah. also knowing what triggers the reforms is important. polybian reforms trigger after turn 100 if you fight 4 large battles (more than 12 enemy units) in cisalpine gaul and 5 against carthage, or after turn 150 if you control cisalpine gaul and sicily. marian reforms dont happen till after turn 500 (lol) and require that there be latifundae in at least 6 of 7 core italian territories and marius with reformator trait or on turn 661 (wtf lol), whatever ive never seen it lol. the only other thing i would say is that i dont agree that the buildings dont do much. i cant speak about the exact mechanics and stats but i can say that i build up the economy and start getting 8k-10k income a turn as long as i dont over build the military. this has to do with the pacing issues which you talk about which i think are right on the money. this game is slow compared to any other version of total war. everything is designed to make you want/need to slow down expansion. so its really for people who want this specific kind of game experience. in other news regarding this mod, all of the factions have their own government and reform/tech tree. if you DL and printout the player guide is about 120 pages most of which is specifics on each faction's govts offices and cultural expansion mechanics. there are alot of ways that this game is deeper than the original eu but its definitely slower paced. some of the the ai factions have real problems expanding, i think because of the way the "rebel" factions operate. the sweboz or whatever they are are surrounded by these rebel factions and seem to end up sitting around because they dont have the ability to overpower their neighbors, and alot of other factions are in the same boat.

To be honest, like 3% of all my my campaigns in total war over the years have reached anywhere close to turn 500. It seems a bit overkill, people get bored much more quickly than that, that is too much of a time requirement to be reasonable for the average player, except for maybe some die-hards in a niche.

@@adrianbundy3249 yeah i dont think ive ever got past turn 300 or so and that was back in the day when i had the patience and fortitude to play like crazy. still i like to play eu 2 sometimes, but alot more often i like a 50-100 turn warhammer total war game. i havent tried stainless steel though, i think i probably should
