TBH I always thought AoS was more of an "uncle" game than a dad game. The uncle mentality of joking around, not taking things seriously and drinking heavily all reflect my AoS experience.

For those confused about the pictures that describe an army, here is a primer Gunslinger girl - Alpha shooters (gets to shoot at the first turn) Cyber ninja/Jetstream Sam - Alpha strikers (gets to fight at the first turn) Guy with lots of weapons - Toolbox (all options are generally good) Castle siege - Castle formation (melee upfront protecting shooters and mages) American civil war gunline - Gunline (walls of guns) Vampire guy with servants/Edgar Markov - Deathstar (put all the buffs on one unit and watch it steamroll everything) Orphaned millionaire desiring more privilege/Batman with infinity gems - Silver bullet (has an answer to every possible strategy) Sumo wrestler/Chiyonofuji - T pose on objective (very defensive) Wrestler stack/John cena suplexing Big show and Edge - Brawlers (wants to get in a fight, wants to stay in a fight) Colorful basketball players/Monstars - Monster Mash (monster do most of the work) Intense army people with guns/Metal Gear Solid characters - Tactical tricks Steampunk airships - Repositioning Tightrope walker - Tempo and Finesse (sacrificial plays and precise buff management) Blue mage/Jace Beleren - Big magic energy Hoodie alcoholic knight/Dr. Doom - Control Fencers - Counterstrike An Equation for Murder - Buff positioning and stacking Very pretty aliens/Mass Effect - Hero hammer (heroes do most of the work) Zombie horde - Horde

You make every army sound fun while communicating their strengths and weaknesses with humor and unexpected cultural references. The AoS team would be well-served by working with you

Something important HeyWoah forgot to mention is that a majority of the time a faction's power rating is less impactful on their success chance than the battle plan

I’m going to recommend this to any new players I come across. You do a better job at explaining AOS than GW ever will.

Haha, this is pretty great and entertaining. (Minor) Lore correction(s): Nurgle didn't kill Alarielle, she went into mourning for all the Sylvaneth losses and cocooned before her rebirth into her war aspect. Fyreslayers are actually trying to bring back Grimnir with the Ur-Gold.. they believe collecting and using enough of it will bring him back.

After hearing the “watch Metalocalypse” recommendation for Slaves to Darkness all I could think about was that scene when Nathan punches that record label dweeb who asks him what type of music they play except instead of “Death Metal” being the answer the scene is “what type of army do you play?” and then Nathan punches him saying “Slaves to Darkness”

A few tips for anyone eyeing up Beasts of Chaos as a BoC player myself. These are based on my own experiences playing them so maybe not the best advice but it's something - Cygors aren't great, but they make for such good wizard snipers that I personally always bring at least 1. You can jam them into Alpha Beast Pack to move them up the board faster, they're (currently) cheap at 125 points, and their ranged attack is swingy but does amazing damage against something as fragile as a support wizard - Jabberslythes get an exclusive Monstrous Rampage that worsens the save characteristic of an Enemy Hero, keep one in your bag to summon in later if you don't intend to bring it in your army because if you throw them at Nighthaunt or The Light of Eltharion they suddenly start to look far less terrifying - Bring Ungor to kill off for Primordial Call points, pretty much the only thing they're actually useful for. Typically I tend to bring 2 units of 10 but even just 1 unit will do - Consider a Cockatrice for a fast, annoying harassment unit that can get you a free PC point each turn that it's alive - If you bring a Beastlord, never make him your General and only throw him at light infantry that he could more reliably take down. If he kills something he can buff up a unit which is great, but do not throw him at any Heroes, he's just too fragile to reliably come out on top against an enemy footslogger let alone something bigger Edit: Here's an extra tip: Gors are your best Battleline choice not accounting for other options you unlock via your choice of General. Ungors should only be considered for slowing down scary stuff or getting Primordial Call points, but you could bring Ungor Raiders instead if you'd prefer they be at least a tiny bit useful. Bestigor are pretty good but costly, take a Bray Shaman General for them rather than a Beastlord. Doombulls aren't half bad either and Dragon Ogors with Glaives just outright slap Here's another freebie why not, consider bringing a Chimera. Yeah they're no tanks but if you hide them decently enough you can have them run out and blast D6 Mortal Wounds at people free of Charge, then follow up with pretty good melee on top of that. I recommend throwing him at key targets as fast as possible, Alpha Beast Pack helps it a lot
