I'd argue Sinnoh Ash is the peak of his character. I also thought Kalos Ash was really cool, he is a little different. But he's still brave, childish, creative, has a cool design, and I'd say the shonen aspects was a nice take on the character.

Time for the long review of each main series ash that nobody asked for: - OS Ash: Had the best savage personality and portrayed ash’s growth as a trainer excellently. On the other hand, I only felt like this ash had meaningful development in the Orange islands. He was just a noob in Kanto, and a pretty solid trainer in Johto(7.5/10) - AG Ash: Definitely upgraded as a trainer from the original series and was actually shown to be working with his Pokémon to teach new moves and prepare for battle. Plus if you combine his Hoenn and Battle Frontier runs, this is one of the most experienced ash’s. He could be a jerk sometimes however, which could get pretty irritating even if it signified growth well(8.5/10) - DP Ash: In terms of development, ash was at his all time best here. Thanks to the Ash & Paul rivalry, ash’s ideals were challenged for the first time, therefore causing him to want to work harder to prove to Paul that he’s a good trainer. Plus him growing and learning alongside Dawn really shows how he’s humbled and views others more as equals now. Oh and let’s not forget he beat the undefeated Darkrai in the Sinnoh League(10/10: Best Ash) - BW Ash: Can we just skip this one(3/10: at least he had his occasional motivational ash moments) - XY Ash: By far the best Ash has been as a protagonist, as he not only carried the series with his battles, but was a motivation for others more than ever before. My only complaint is that he had very little character growth until Ash-Greninja entered the picture(9.5/10: Also stop acting like this ash has no personality) - SM Ash - IMO a better character on his own than XY Ash(fight me). You could see his growth as a character due to him actually learning to love the world around him and building closer bonds with the people, Pokémon and world around him, which is why ash’s league win is so important. Some out of character moments do rub me the wrong way(7/10) - JN Ash: So far it’s too early to judge, but by the end of the series, this might be my favorite Ash. He’s a culmination of every ash we’ve seen so far and has personality traits of both XY Ash and SM Ash. My only complaints are his poor team handling and his lack of a clear arc yet(9/10) Overall Ranking: 1. DP Ash 2. XY Ash 3. JN Ash 4. AG Ash 5. OS Ash 6. SM Ash(Still Like Him Though) 1000: BW Ash Actual BW Ash review: I wouldn’t mind the soft reset for his character if he actually got better, but he didn’t as he was still making rookie mistakes throughout the series. This ash goes through the least amount of character growth or development which is weird considering this is the soft reboot(3/10)

I was disappointed because XY Ash was my favorite. His design was sleek he had actual experience and in my opinion there was quite a bit of development. Also the kiss with Serena at the end of the series.

I think Sinnoh Ash is better than the others because he has a bigger personality. He’s basically an improvement of Hoenn, Johto and Kanto Ash. In Black and White, Ash’s personality is that he doesn’t think things through. In XY, his personality is that he loves Pokémon. In SM, he has the same personality from XY except he’s a little silly. In SS, he’s basically the same as he was in SM, except maybe a little more intelligent in battle?

I have always thought that not using ash as the Pokemon games player character is just because he has a stronger personality. the PC usually isn't really all that fleshed out as a main character, with rather limited personality traits, which allows the player to reflect more of themselves onto him, making the character feel more personal and relatable for the players.

I totally agree with this list except XY ash. Most people would put him ether on A tier or S tier for being a great trainer, being confident, and having a great team dispite having 2 dragon types and 3 flying types. I would put him probably in B tier since he does have some flaws. One is that he has a one Pokémon on his team that really should have been replaced, and that’s norvern. Norvern has a really bad losing streak and being the weakest of the team. Ash could have gotten a Gogoat but whatever. Other then some flaws X and Y Ash had he is a good trainer.

I remember when XandY aired I knew there would be an outrage from Pokémon fans who probably thought this would be the end of Ash’s journey when the Pokémon league started. They probably thought he would win the Pokémon league and settle down with a girl who liked him at 10 years old. And when he lost and separated from team, the expected outrage and excuses came from everyone who believed them hiring the black and white writers was the reason he lost or that they backed down last second. When they clearly still needed the main series character to be the lead like always. Anyways XandY felt like the ultimate fan service season where they put all the obvious easy ideas forward for fans to get hyped up about just to return them to the status quo.

I khow i might sound a lil crazy considering the series aint even over, but Journeys Ash in my opinion is the best so far. He has his badassness from x and y, and his normal silly carefree personality from sun and moor and the gens before. It feels like the perfect blend and natural growth as a character. He can get cocky like when he first faced Bea, and still makes mistakes. But thats what makes a charecter realistic.

The original series ash should have been in s tear because he was perfect some people say he's a newbie but he really is.he got a lot of character development also he so exited and roast every one and a funny character thats what a 10 year old ash have.
