/ tfs A special thanks to Team Four Star for creating this brilliant web series. Easily the most fun I've ever had while researching a video. For anyone who hasn't seen it, I highly advise you fix that toot sweet!
@@plattytheperrypus5701 Yeah but thanks to Super, people genuinely believe that Goku has brain damage, which he doesn't. But unfortunately Super has caused people to think this. In Super it's like that old Z Goku everyone loves comes out every now and then to provide us with an actually good Goku scene (Goku getting angry at Zamasu for killing Chichi and Goten, versions of them that weren't even from his timeline, yet he still got mad. Him being completely serious with Freeza and not cracking any jokes. Just plain good ol' serious Goku and then him getting pissed at Jiren for trying to kill his friends. He even says that he doesn't think he's a hero of justice but he WILL beat the shit out of those who hurt his friends.) I wish we got this Goku more often.
Slightly was a big understatement for DBZ though. And even if we use Super Goku...I still believe the Goku that would rather save food than his son isn't that much less dumber than Super Goku.
I'm in Darwin Australia, I wonder what Spice Darwin would be like, like a more crazier and better version of here. Oh and Jeice is so red because there's two suns up there and it's like twice as hot as Darwin, usually on averages of 55°c to 65°c.
So as a huge fan of the Android/Cell arcs, My favorite change is more than just fleshing out 16, but the portrayal of the androids in general. They ACTUALLY feel like just two punk teenagers who got super powers, and above all, the 3 actually care about each other which makes them much more interesting than just killing machines.
I agree. I liked the Androids in the original anime but shit, I fell in love with them in the Abridged adaptation, especially because of how they do feel like they care for each other in the Abridged version.
Another difference you guys missed is that Yamcha doesn't immediately get killed by a Saibaman in the original. He actually takes one down with ease before getting distracted and then blown up.
Huh, so THAT explains why Raditz gave Goku and the Yoshi so much trouble: he was moving at the speed of sound! If only he had some Power Rings, then he could've survived the Manka...Masako...Manhappatcha...AHH TO HELL WITH IT: the Special Beam Cannon!
Yeah, but Krillin's last name isn't Sanchez either. He doesn't have a last name, probably almost everyone doesn't have a last name. Goku is the only one who does. For example, Bulma's last name is not Briefs, Briefs is her father's first name. In Japan, you go by your first name, not your last. Bulma doesn't have a last name. The same goes for Tien, his name is not Tien Shinhan, it's Tenshinhan. As for Hercule Satan, that's not his name. Mr. Satan is his stage name. Hercule was his stage name in the dub due to censorship. His real name is Mark, and that's it. He doesn't have a last name either.
@ceciliomendoza8228 No, Briefs is Bulma's last name, because her father has only been referred to as *Dr.*Briefs during the show, and titles are always used before the last name, so her name is Bulma Briefs. Goku does not have a last name, as his full name is Son Goku, and his Sayian name is Kakarot. Neither of these names include a last name.
@@toxicdemon1315 In Japan you are called by your first name not last. Briefs is his first name. They even did this in Super, where Bulma was referred to as Dr. Bulma because in Japan you call doctors by their first names.
"Marin is not a stripper or a prostitute" She isn't in the Abridged series, either. She's a government agent cracking down on Krillin's life insurance fraud.
@@BloodrealmX so wait, Krillin named his daughter after his filler girlfriend that said she would marry him if he asked, then ran off with some other guy immediately? that's some weird cuck shit right there.
"I'm Son Goku,, i'm insane from earth!" Vegeta chimes in "He means Saiyan" I always chuckle at that scene, Goku is so blissfully unaware of his surroundings at times
Lovelyboney im diagnosed of cancer after reading you’re sentences with incredibly idiotic grammar which you try to make up by using intelligent words which you probably don’t know the meaning. Yes i am criticizing you for your grammar because it annoys me that you can’t do english properly nor use grammar properly before you send a bunch of six year olds to attack me i can handle their insults but not their horrible grammar and spelling use.
20:01 Actually: In the Funimation Dub it is specified as ''grape-flavoured'' so that was the joke there. Not too sure about the other languages and Dubs though.
If I remember, Goku said "Wow, it's purple, I bet it's grape flavor!" And Trunks didn't said weather it was or wasn't. He just told Goku to take the medicine.
My favorite change is probably Piccolo and the voices in his head. Also Vegeta being way more savage in this version (he has some of the best lines in the entire show), aswell as Cell being a generally chill dude who even compliments and encourages Yamcha at one point. As Yamcha is one of my favorite characters from DBZ it's nice to see him get some recognition by Cell even if everybody else shits on him.
He was almost the cause of Earth being destroyed in Battle of Gods but I can appreciate him, he more than redeemed Earth by winning a baseball game against players way out of his league in power.
I've watched Abridged more times than I can count, but I never knew why they referenced George Takei with King Kai. It's because the original Japanese voice actor for King Kai had a very George Takei-esque dictation, with a deep and confident voice. Team Four Star contemplated having all of their voices be accurate to the Japanese voices, rather than the English dub. This is why Goku has a much more childlike voice. It's more in-line with Goku from the Japanese voice cast, who is voiced by a woman, even today. If the English Dub was more faithful, Goku would sound a lot more like Monkey D. Luffy than what he sounds like in Z and late Dragonball. Similarly, the American Dub made both King Kai and Majin Buu have high pitched voices, whereas the Japanese version of King Kai was very deep, and Buu was at least deeper than what we got. He sounded a bit more malicious to my English speaking ear than the American version too.
You misunderstood Dr. Gero's video of Android 16. This wasn't Dr. Gero's son before he was turned into a full robot. Turning a human into a full robot doesn't make sense. The person in the video wasn't Android 16 at all. It was Gero's son, who Android 16 was stated to be MODELED AFTER in a Toriyama interview. TFS was just paying homage to that. Recap: You got the part of Gero's son right, but Gero didn't turn him into Android 16; he just modeled 16 after him.
And to expand on this (and add another tally to the counter): Dr. Gero's son wasn't killed by Son Goku in the original series, nor was it ever stated when he died; he was instead killed by stray gunfire from a rival faction, which led to the mad doctor modelling #16 after him in the first place. That being said, I think that this is a brilliant change, as it changes Gero's motivation from wanting revenge from the Red Ribbon Army, to a more personal grudge because his son was tragically killed by Son Goku as a mere afterthought.
Yes, that is not 16, that's Gero's son. 16 isn't a cyborg unlike 17 or 18. 16 is an Android, 16 was modeled after Gero's son, but he is not Gero's son, because his son is still dead. Gero didn't turn his son into a cyborg as did with 17 and 18, he model him to look like his son, but he is not his son. Also, Gero's son was not killed by Goku, he was shot by a bullet during the war. Even if Goku did kill him, 16's obsession over killing Goku isn't personal, it's because he is programmed to do so. Again, 16 is a full-on Android, not a cyborg, he doesn't have free will. 16 doesn't want to kill Goku, he is programmed to do so. Toriyama based 16 off The Terminator, just like the Terminator, 16 was created to destroy one man. The Terminator had to destroy John Conner, and 16 had to destroy Goku. People seem to misunderstand that
another thing you missed was that in abridged, prior to meeting nappa and vegeta, piccolo knew that he was a namekian, while in z, he and kami were basically stunned/surprised to learn their alien heritage
Just discovered DBZ Abridged this week. I was having real Mandela effect when watching it especially since I watched DBZ atleast 20 years ago. glad this is here
The hate boner triangle between Tien, Vegeta and Cell is easily one of the best parts of the series. Just Tien and Vegeta's banter is enough to put me in stitches.
you also forgot the whole Pokemon thing Nappa has against Chausu. The moment where Frieza get a new scouter, and the new ringtone he wanted Krillin Quaks to avoid detection . And a lot of smaller things. The red right eye vegeta gets when his rage breaks.
11:48 is a huge difference and actually goes unchecked (and probably will forever; doesn't look like we're getting Resurrection F Abridged! Thanks, Toei~)
Only show I've seen him in is Kai, which i watched when i was younger, aroiund say 13-15 years old. don't remember him being subtle about being gay, in fact he didn't come off as gay at all. Might need to see clips of him to see why he's supposedly gay. The real question is, why did i think he was a woman first time seeing him?
Here's the ones from the last episodes that I know of: 1. During Gohan and Cell's fight, we briefly see a younger Videl back home watching, where she comments on Gohan's hair. Videl isn't seen in canon until the Maijin Buu arc. 2. Cell does not give a speech about why he hates Gohan in canon. 3. There are no free sundaes for dying three times, and Krillin does not state he is lactose intolerant. 4. In the abridged version, Goku brings Cell to King Kai's planet to ask for help. In canon, he brought Cell there because he couldn't think of any better place to dump him. 5. In the anime, pretty much everyone jumps in and tries to blast Cell during his and Gohan's final confrontation. In the Abridged Version, only Vegeta does so, much like in the anime. 6. Cell doe s not go out singing "My Way." In fact, his reaction is quite different, screaming that he is perfect. 7. Vegeta does not say that they had better bring back Trunks after all is said and done. Instead, he is lamenting that he has been surpassed by not only Goku, but his son, and vows to never fight again. 8. In the Abridged Version, they only found out that you still can't revive people more than once on the lookout during the wish. In canon, they went into the Cell Games with this information. 9. Goku does not know Chi Chi is pregnant. 10. The series ends with Krillin and 18 having sex and rolling the owned count down to zero. No such scene exists in the anime. 11. During the credits, we see a picure of Android 16 in heaven surrounded by birds. There is no indication Android 16 moved on to the afterlife in canon.
You forgot to mention that in the abridged version, the new up-to-date scouter Jeice gives to Frieza can play his own theme song from Resurrection F whenever he gets a call. He can also play the song at any time he wants, even if he is not getting called, because it’s played twice. 😂
What I'm confused about is how did TFS found the theme ? It was used for resurrection of f which came out in 2015 . The episode came out in 2011 , so HOWWWW
The theme is actually older than what most of you believe, it was a tribute by a infamous japanese metal band called Maximum the Hormone which did some songs for Death Note. Araki even admited that the title "Resurrection of F" is a tribute to that song.
Coming back and watching this specific video as a new viewer is really something. Your quality has been consistent for such an unbelievable amount of time. It's crazy
23:59 - technically, what Abridged-Krillin refers to as "stealth mode" is the same thing that Original-Krillin calls "supressing your Power Level" (as in, to 'hide' from Scouters)...thats kinda like saying "Tien never used the Kikoho in the Original Anime, he used the Tri-Beam"...
Well it's japanese name is the kikoho so technically he does use the kikoho in the original anime lol. Unless you mean the English dub. But you are correct that krillin does do stealth mode, it's just him powering down
WAITAMINUTE. There was one pic at about 8:45 which makes me REALLY question about Namekians. Namekians subsist on only water, right? They don't eat, they just absorb water. Then why the hell is that village growing crops? Who are they growing them for? Not for themselves, not for trade, not for livestock... Was it just for hobby??
In The Abridged the password to the namekian ship isn't Popo, the ship just knows better. Goku ship to Namek didn't have a muffin button, that's why dr. Briefs was so confused how he got muffin Krillin didn't have a twin named Juan, that was part of his fraud Goku landed in idiot crater Trunks opening the time machine in the show wasn't an accident, it was an act of stupidity
@@rbexcess The ShortZ do not technically fall under the DBZA title. They are basically a spinoff of DBZA. And, the Epilogue still falls under "Episode 60."
Movies, episode of bardock, episode of Trunks, etc. Even if you don’t count those as proper episodes, they do contribute to “over”. Not to mention that the season finales are 3x the length of the average episode.
In total it's 70 episode videos: 3 3-parters, epilogue, Trunks origin story, Episode of Bardock and Bardock Story (not lebeled as a movies in the TFS version, so still count as extra story episodes).
Best thing ever for comedic relief and nearly at no real expesnce just pure hilarity to the ut most silliest banter ive heard from a voice over in a anime and was genuisly well timed and placed no voice iver will ever best this
Some things that should definitely be established as canon: - Chaotzu being an homophobe - Goku blasting a "Kamehameha" when reaching an orgasm - Vegeta blasting a "Garlick Gun" when reaching an orgasm - Goku exclusively addressing to Vegeta as "best buddy" and "Jeets" - Semi-Perfect Cell actually talking to Tom and Sally from the islands he was targeting while looking for C18 - Goku remarking how handsome Perfect Cell is, on and on - Yamcha's "Cat loves food" jingle
The funny thing was, when I first watch Abridged (as a dumb child), I almost thought it was canon, cuz the quality was amazing. Now, as a grown adult, I programmed this as canon to my brain lol
