As a regular Protestant listener who is not seeking to convert I would like to say that your testimony and many Catholics both online and in-person have demonstrated that the Catholic Church has such a powerful handle on the work of the Holy Spirit and so many ‘living’ Churches and many of our Protestant churches that are dead and dying and prostrating themselves before the secular world I yearn to worship where the Holy Spirit is honored and where God is worshipped sincerely. Prot/Cath..labels. The Children of God…those are the folks I want to listen to and talk to and spend eternity with. Thank you for the work you’re doing.

A church is just were believers gather. And people being taught false religion from catholic, orthodox, and protestant churches can have believers but they are not the church as Christ defined it. Those are all man made religions not biblical and Christ based religions.

The Church is NOT just the building, or the people in the nation, or the priest. The Church is all three gathered under the single roof, giving thanks and glorifying God Almighty in a covenant prayer! The covenant of gathered folks under one priest is MORE powerful than all of them praying alone in their homes. People do NOT know of the POWER of the prayer of the group! But if you see how on Easter 2020 all churches were CLOSED - you see the triumf of Darkness and the Grand Liar in the Covid Injections Massacre and your eyes OPEN wide in the Truth of God!

I come from a family that has been very anti-Catholic from my earliest memories. I was raised in the Lutheran church, and as I grew I expanded my scope looking for something that made total sense to me. It was actually a discussion with my father, who as mentioned is very anti-Catholic, that got me looking into why the Deutero-canonical books were removed from the Bible that lead me to the last few weeks of research, and I had already decided on converting to Catholocism before finding this video, but like many Mary was a sticking point for me and I am so grateful that you had this episode. God bless, and by the way I could listen to all three of you talk anytime. All very soothing, articulate voices that I appreciated.

Acquire the only Cath approved translation of the bible the Douay Rheims version. If you read some of the early church fathers you will not be able to find the bible verses, they quote without it. There are 7 more books. In the Prot bibles translations changed some of the verse #'s and others where whole chapters were dropped, like Danial 13 and 14. This book can be found free online for use. The Chandler version of the Douay Rheims has always held writings of what the church teaches on verses meanings that are hard to understand. Maps and a whole lot more. Deep diving. I was so appalled when I picked up an international bible and in a few places was all it took to see the translations had changed it to a demonic book. Be careful. In the Douay Rheims there is a prayer of protection to do so demonic interference cannot cloud your understanding. This will not help with bad translations!

Excellent episode! As a recent convert to Catholicism, I initially made attempts to energetically defend the Catholic position of Sacred Scripture. However, I quickly saw the greater need was to evangelize my new Catholic friends to get into Mass every Sunday and dig into their faith that they typically took for granted. After some time, I realized the call I received from our Lord was to grow in love for Him and His mother. Now all I want to do is be in Mass every day and receive the Holy Presence of our Lord in the Sacraments and grow in my diligence in regular confession. Amen Matt Fradd! Keep going brother! Amazing episode. Thank you so much for the work you are doing. God Bless you!

I've pondered about the importance of names in the Bible. It seems that those who played major roles in God's plan of salvation were given name changes (Abram-Abraham, Jacob-Israel, Simon-Peter, etc.) that corresponded with their callings. I think it's significant that while hanging from the cross, Jesus calls Mary "Woman" (see John 19:25) rather than "Mary", "Mother" (or "Mama", "Mom", etc.). Adam's first name for his helper/companion was "Woman" (Gen.2:23) but after she sinned, he changed her name to "Eve" (Gen.3:20). So it seems to me that Our Lord is referring to Mary by a more meaningful name - the first name ever given to a woman BEFORE sin entered the world. It seems that Jesus is telling us that He sees her as in the same state as Eve was BEFORE she sinned - immaculate. How am I wrong?

I was just musing on this phrase in light of my own struggles with Mary. "As God willed to humble himself in Mary through Christ, so does wish to humble you in Christ through Mary." When I struggled with Mary as the teenage son of a devout Catholic mother and a Reformed Presbyterian Minister father, I would argue with my dear mother constantly, repeating the flat objections my father raised. Eventually, she said in exasperation, "Have you ever considered that maybe God wants it this way?" She stopped my rambling dead, for I realized that I was so obsessed with sussing out what I could perceive as true and honoring God in the way I deemed proper that I failed to listen faithfully. I have not had issue with Mary since, save some frustration that, as was discussed in this interview, we let our reverence for Mary be a foremost stumbling block for our Protestant brothers and sisters. However, in light of what I have just shared, perhaps Mary is the most appropriate introductory issue for a Protestant, generally, since to accept her is to be humbled and to submit oneself to being taught not just by Christ but also his Church.

As Catholic, I grew up with parents who taught us to respect, learn about others; my parents are the reason I stay Catholic, if my parents would have had a different religion teaching us the same to respect and embrace differences and learn where those differences come from I would have remained my parents religion. With that I must say I have friends with different religious denominations and I have attended their Bible studies and I have attended the Bible study at my Catholic Church. I wish my Catholic Church Bible study had the formation of the people teaching found in this video; they so knowledgeable, respectful and focused on the theme without criticizing others. In the year 1854, four years before the start of the apparitions at Lourdes, Pope Pius IX had declared the doctrine of the Immaculate Conception of the Virgin Mary to be an “article of faith” to be believed by all Catholics. Several years later, in 1858, the Blessed Mother gave her name to St. Bernadette at Lourdes stating, "I am the Immaculate Conception." The Lady responded in the Bigourdane dialect, “Que soy era Immaculada Conceptiou,” which means, “I am the Immaculate Conception.” This convinced the skeptical Parish Priest of Lourdes, l’Abbe Peyramale, that Bernadette’s visions were genuine. He knew she couldn’t have heard of the Papal definition four years earlier, and she didn’t know what the words meant. St. Bernadette-who was 14 years old, unlettered, and failed her catechism exam-couldn't even pronounce "Immaculada Conceptiou" when she told others this was who the Lady said she was. However, priests certainly knew that the Immaculate Conception is the Mother of God. There is no way St. Bernadette could have fabricated this, which proves the miraculous nature of the Our Lady of Lourdes apparitions.

Just as an FYI Marian worship/sacrifice was condemned by the church because a small sect of Christians in the 4 and 5th century were sacrificing bread to Mary this was called Collyridianism. One thing Protestants usually misunderstand is what Catholics consider worship. For a Protestant prayer and praise is worship. For Catholics prayer and praise is only part of worship, the main element of worship for Catholics is sacrifice which is what is revealed on our altars at the Mass which is the one sacrifice of Jesus Christ at Calvary.

You know what’s weird? Some people have difficulty praying to Mary after first entering the Catholic church. Especially after being non-Catholic Christians all their lives. I get that. I didn’t have issues praying to Mary at all. I was asking her to intercede with God for me from day one. But as a former atheist who had just come to terms with having had an intense experience meeting God and having the Holy Spirit dumped on me. I had and incredibly difficult time praying to Jesus… The concept of Jesus as God was really foreign to me. The saints I could deal with, and Mary was another saint in my eyes. Jesus took time for me to fully embrace. I’d almost never even said the name in my entire life. While I knew a few Marys and had used the word God many times in discussions against religion. So, in effect I was a Christian who couldn’t pray to Jesus, but could pray to His mother 😂 I’m very happy to say I’ve by now fully embraced the Lord Jesus as my Lord and Saviour and pray to Him all day long! He’s in my mind constantly, I’m even telling Him jokes sometimes when I notice myself having a little sinful thought or falling back to errant behaviours from before my Salvation. He’s becoming my best friend 🙏❤ God bless, this conversation was amazing!

In Athanasius’ On the Incarnation (circa 325), Ch. 2, para 8, he writes of Mary as a “spotless, stainless virgin” and a “pure body”. He then expands this thought, “He, the Mighty One, the Artificer of all, Himself prepared this body in the virgin as a temple for Himself, and took it for His very own, as the instrument through which He was known and in which He dwelt.” These words suggest Athanasius’ belief in both the Immaculate Conception and Mary as the new Ark.

The problem with William is that he attempt to make arguments by either eisegeting the text or reading into a writing of an ECF like Epiphanius. It’s not until you read the text or the writing for yourself that you realize that it’s not seen claims it’s the same. He also has a lot of assumptions, like the assumption of Mary being taught in liturgies in the second century. I listen to his conversation with Daley. He stated that the assumption “might” have been expressed in liturgies in the third century, and “possibly,” as early as the second century. This is questionable language. He didn’t actually provide any evidence of this. In reality, you don’t find this being taught until the fifth to sixth centuries. Even Ephraim did NOT teach it. I discussed this in a video I made critiquing his rebuttal video of Dr Gavin Ortlund. William took a lot of liberty with certain texts.

Ortlund takes a lot of things out of context and tries to talk as if he knows the subject but if you look at his sources and the context you'll see he doesn't (and that's a charitable interpretation of his behaviour)

As a convert myself I sometimes forget how hard it is for many Protestants to come home to the truth of the Catholic Church. In a sense I guess I was meant to be Catholic even though Christ, going to Church and what not was front and center in my family and even the community and Public school I went to. As far as I know I'm the only Catholic in my family and can't recall any of my friends or school mates growing up that where Catholic. Without realizing it My introduction to and beleife in the authority and truth of the Church began with horror movies beleive it or not. For weather it was Vampires or other Denomic forces they never seamed to get anywhere untill they got help from Preists, Nuns, Holy Water, Crucifixes and what not. So from a very early age I saw Preists as sort of the elite of the Ministers if you will. And have always held a high degree of respect for them and Nuns more so then any Protestant Reverend. So when I started attending RCIA classes and learning the whole truth I never questioned any of it sure I had a lot of questions but I was more angry then anything that the whole truth was hidden from me my entire life. As my faith and knowledge of the Church as a whole has grown I'm more and more convinced of the fact that the Catholic Church is the one true faith. And Mother Mary well she's the key. To Christ through Mary. For she makes the path to Christ much clearer, straighter, broader and easier then without her. Can you make it without her or without knowledge of her intercession. I'm sure you can but your path is so so much better and your chances of getting there are so so much better with her then without.

According to Dr. Brant Pitre, Eusebius records that the brothers of Our Lord were the sons of Clopas, whom Hegesippus recorded was the brother of St. Joseph. Dr. Pitre also demonstrates that St. Joseph was anywhere from 28-49 years of age, based on the particular Greek word used in Scripture (when comparing that word to Jewish literature from Philo). So while older, he was not considered an Old Man according to custom.

I have two copies of Eusebius church history. And neither of them affirm that Hegesippus these brothers of Jesus were anything other than younger half siblings. In fact Hegesippus affirms just the opposite. He does right that there is a man name Simon who is the son of Clopas who is the brother of Joseph. But you have to understand the name “Simon” was a very common Jewish male name in Israel in the first century. In other words, this is not the same “Simon” who is described as one of the brothers of Jesus.

They all with one consent pronounced Symeon, the son of Clopas, of whom the Gospel also makes mention; to be worthy of the episcopal throne of that parish. This lady recognized me from the last time I served she said to me “oh your the girl from that Catholic Church” then I was refused a volunteer position because I believe one must receive the sacrament of reconciliation to be forgiven of my sin. When a mutual friend who served with me today mentioned what transpired to one of her Protestant friends, she said “Catholics are similar to Christian’s” the only difference is Mary. In all of the Bible the altar was the place of sacrifice and worship to God and the Altar at the Catholic Mass is the sacrifice of the Pascal Lamb, Jesus Christ, brought to us across time so he is actually present in the priest consecrating the Eucharist. [27] And as it is appointed unto men once to die, but after this the judgment: [28] so Christ was once offered to bear the sins of many; and unto them that look for him shall he appear the second time without sin unto salvation. ‭‭Hebrews‬ ‭7:25‭-‬27‬ ‭ [25] Wherefore he is able also to save them to the uttermost that come unto God by him, seeing he ever liveth to make intercession for them. So you eat real flesh & drink real blood? Are those items used perishable? For if those items perish then they cannot be Christ Himself. Taking a physical property of this world & making it into God itself? The bread 🍞 & wine 🍷cannot become the body & blood🩸 for Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today & forever.👇 Hebrews 13:8 Jesus Christ the same yesterday, and to day, and forever.👇 Psalm 102:27 But thou art the same, and thy years shall have no end.👇 Malachi 3:6 For I am the Lord, I change not. God does All that He pleases & isn't subject to mens control. Eg bread & wine. I'm afraid you are limiting GOD to earthly substances & vessels. Is Jesus not forever alive? At the right hand of Father until His return? If the bread & wine are really God he'd have to be dead if you were consuming him? For in Him dwelleth all the fullness of the Godhead bodily.. To think the very Creator of the universe, the Eternal God, man can place him into bread & wine? Nothing Spiritual can be eaten? Christ Jesus blood is devine. Not human blood. He is made of the Spirit, flesh & blood. Matthew 24:26 Wherefore if they shall say unto you, Behold, he is in the desert; go not forth: behold, he is in the secret chambers; believe not...

As a Protestant we can also say we pray for you guys as well. How do you reconcile all the abuse committed by sooo many priests and nuns. The cherry on top is the Catholic Church as a whole hiding it. Do priests read from the Bible and tell their parishioners that they should also read it on their own time as well. Just please list the exact scripture where it says Mary was a perpetual virgin I would believe it. The Catholic Church used God to commit mass murders. I believe you all love the Lord there are just some major points where Protestants such as myself cannot reconcile. Also is it true the the Catholic Church at it start was a mix of paganism/occult mixed with Christianity which the two cannot be mixed.

Objection to Mary?? lol I admit I grew up Catholic but not understanding the fuss, but respected her memory as Jesus’ mother. In hindsight I think the veneration of her perfection and virginal rep etc was intimidating. Until May 31 three years ago… I dared to ponder, something tells me there’s more to her than what I’ve been “taught”. The rest of the day, her image kept popping up everywhere and then that night, an apparition and channeling of sorts. but I can only say it was a vibration of love and light that melted me inside out and i dissolved into a sobbing mess it was so beautiful. I thought omg…it’s the divine mother feminine aspect of God’s energy we’ve all forgotten in our earthly incarnations how separated we are from it’s perfect love. But it’s returning thanks to many devoted lightworkers. I wept for hours. She was truly so endearing. She lit my heart with a blue flame that blazed for days until I fell out of vibration perhaps, but it was an amazing experience that changed me forever. So beyond humbled and grateful. She is here for us more powerfully than ever before was one of her messages. This energy is very much needed on the planet at this time and consecration to her is a powerful way to anchor it here.

I am protestant so I don’t share many of the views discussed here. One thing that helped me not to be hostile to those who differ from me on this issue is to remember that Mary (whatever you believe otherwise) was the mother of Jesus and Jesus was a sinless man and he definitely obeyed the command to honor his father and mother. And so I ought also to honor her and be careful what I say about her or the dogmas about her in the process of this discussion.

I remember being very scared when my wife wanted to look into catholicism and me being afraid of beinf convinced! These kinds of talks help to dispell protestant myths of the Catholic Faith. When Protestants dont like where their church is headed they can schism and rebrand while the Catholic faith has no luxury in this. Modern anti-religion cultures along with the american individualism and freedom mentality are huge barriers to understanding Catholicism.

Excellent discussion. Regarding Genesis 3:15, it seem that it wasn´t so obvious even for some Jews. For example Philo of Alexandria acknowledges the masculine language in the Septuagint but nevertheless believes “he” refers to the woman: "And the expression, ‘He shall watch thy head, and thou shalt watch his heel’ is, as to its language, a barbarism, but, as to the meaning which is conveyed by it, a correct expression. Why so? It ought to be expressed with respect to the woman: but the woman is not he, but she. What, then, are we to say?" Philo then gives a convoluted explanation as to why he thinks the woman is referred to as “he.” Source: On the Creation. Allegorical Interpretation of Genesis 2 and 3, LXVII Maimonides was one of Judaism’s most brilliant thinkers. He comments: Another noteworthy Midrashic remark of our Sages is the following: “The serpent had a rider, the rider was as big as a camel, and it was the rider that enticed Eve: this rider was Samael.” Samael is the name generally applied by our Sages to Satan. Thus they say in several places that Satan desired to entice Abraham to sin, and to abstain from binding Isaac, and he desired also to persuade Isaac not to obey his father. At the same time they also say, in reference to the same subject, viz., the Akedah (the binding of Isaac), that Samael came to Abraham and said to him, “What! Have you-being an old man-lost your senses?” This shows that Samael and Satan are identical. There is a meaning in this name Samael, as there is also in the name nachash (serpent). In describing how the serpent came to entice Eve, our sages say, “Samael was riding on it, and God was laughing at both the camel and its rider.” It is especially of importance to notice that the serpent did not approach or address Adam, but all his attempts [approach, speech] were directed against Eve, and it was through her that the serpent caused injury and death to Adam. The greatest hatred exists between the serpent and Eve, and between his seed and her seed; her seed being undoubtedly also the seed of man. More remarkable still is the way in which the serpent is joined to Eve, or rather his seed to her seed: the head of the one touches the heel of the other. Eve defeats the serpent by crushing its head, whilst the serpent defeats her by wounding her heel. This is likewise clear. (Guide for the Perplexed, book II, chap XXX). Now clearly these Jews were not Christians like the Church Fathers, who saw a connection between Genesis 3:15 and Mary. Yet, they still could identify a woman as crushing the head of the serpent

Hey Matt, you should ask people if they have an issue with calling Mary the Mother of God because the title Mother of God implies that she is the giver of life to God the most high in the person of Jesus Christ himself. To clarify when Catholics say "Mary is the Mother of God" I think Protestants hear "Mary has an authority over Jesus because she gave birth to him and this authority extends over his divinity". Therefore they think that we are just Pagans worshiping something else.
@gab31282
@gab31282 Год назад
When Protestants hear Mother of God, they hear Mary being elevated to the level of the Trinity, almost as she was being referred to as the fourth person joining the Trinity...basically idolatry.
@mrscharmless

I feel like it’s a bit uncharitable to assume that. I’ve never heard a Catholic, or anyone else for that matter, argue that Mary was somehow before or the creator of God. It’s fairly straightforward.

@@gab31282 NOT A SINGLE CATHOLIC, NONE I know of conside Mary a God. It is very irritating to hear our protestant brothers and sisters make such statements...because I am certain they know better. But many our protestant brothers and sisters also seem to focus exclusively on Jesus, neglecting God the Father and the advocate, the Holy Spirit...whereas Catholics typically begin all prayer sessions with the name of the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit.
@gab31282
@gab31282 Год назад
@@zgwforum Yes, it's unfortunate. I come from a Protestant background but I have now learned a lot about Catholicism, more than the average Catholics that I know. There are so many misunderstandings on both sides. Each mischaracterizes the other terribly. I guess it's because the paradigms and values of each are incredibly different, not bad per say, just very different. The concepts of church, saints, worship, salvation, sactification, Tradition, etc are complete different worlds. I personally believe there are very godly people on both sides, and terrible examples on both, as well. When see Christians like Catholics, Orthodox, and Protestants criticize one a other without love nor charity, its so disheartning and disappointing. I wish that Christians really would love one another as followers of Christ. It would certainly make it easier to believe that maybe Jesus really is Lord and the Light of mankind. I am a former Protestant Christian.

@Linda Zerr - In 2 Samuel 6:23, we read that Michal, the daughter of Saul, had no child “until” the day of her death. Does that 'seem' to mean Michal had children after she died? Of course not! Hebrews 1:13 and 1 Timothy 4:13 are similar examples. - You need to understand 1st century grammar (and earlier) was quite different to todays grammar to properly understand what meaning the verse is conveying.
