You probably look at them like art. "Oh that's a badass spider". But they're looking at things like technique and longevity. Doesn't matter how cool the picture is if it's a shitty tattoo. Buy a poster instead.

That kind of shit is pretty common among tattoo artist.Me including.Did over 200 last year and 99 % of those tats i wasant happy . Usually there is 2 types,the dude that do shit tattoos and thinking they look good and the dude that do good tattoos and always think they look shit.

think it’s important to prove that they can adapt to any situation so having squirmy difficult canvases mimics what they might face in the real world

I understand having to deal with squirmy canvases bc that happens irl all the time but when you're competing for $100k it sucks. I think the judges need to be more decisive in terms of who they choose to be canvases on the show. There have been so many that can't handle pain, move around constantly, can't commit to anything, or try to interfere with the challenges which is unfair to the artist and the client. I've gotten both shoulders and upper arms tattooed, my neck, hipbone/pubic area, forearm, and outer calf and I've sat still for all of them. Might sound harsh but tattoos aren't for everyone and if you can't handle the pain, you don't need a tattoo.

@@tacklebox5374 ALL of this.. I had my thighs done (not finished) and just sat there and watched tv and made small talk for all of it. I've had my forearm, ditch, upper arm, even in my armpit done and my goal is to sit perfectly still even if it's uncomfortable or causes my joints pain or numbness lol. Obviously move when you get a break so that doesn't happen anymore, but you're a sheet of paper for an artist trying to do their work. I'd be pissed if someone was shaking a desk that i was drawing on.

@@ApHoney I think tattoo artists is aware of all of the challenges of being a tattoo artists.

The production doesn't allow the canvases to have phones (understandable) or play music or any of the usual stuff to distract you from the pain. They do it to purposely instigate drama.
