I love my 24. I haven't seen the hood issue on my tacoma, but I had 24 camry which did the same thing, it was extremely irritating. Maybe my tacoma is doing it slightly but just not as much? Maybe this is an issue w newer toyotas all around? Not sure! Love the power on the 24, I am not finding the truck hunting gears like my 3rd gen did. It is very peppy and has a great truck like drive to it. I wish there was a bit more room in the back and ventilation in the back
I just took delivery of my 2024 TRD Off Road withe the premium package. My hood doesn’t flex like others are reporting. Maybe Toyota got the word on this issue and made adjustments on the newest produced vehicles. I owned a 2021 TRD Sport and with the hood scoop there was vibrating and flexing of my hood. Did you check the tire pressure on your test vehicle? Most vehicles, including mine, were shipped with over inflated tires. All of the tires on my new truck and my 2022 Highlander Platinum AWD Hybrid were 43-45 psi. Way over the recommended 32 psi. Both vehicles road like a lumber wagon on a bumpy dirt road prior to adjusting the pressure. Nice video overall.
I have heard about his video but haven't watched it yet. We've actually met at a few events. The hood was very bothersome to me so glad to see I'm not the only one.
Okay. First of all you didn’t mention the tire pressure. Several of the other UTube channels say that their new Tacoma test vehicle came with 45-50 lbs of pressure. My personal experience with buying a new car or truck has the tires way over inflated when purchased and their explanation is that when the vehicle has been sitting on the lot the tires lose pressure so they routinely over inflated the pressure that is recommended on the door pillar. Also I think they do this so the tire has lower rolling resistance so the fuel mileage is higher. That may be why you say your test truck road a bit stiff. All the other TRD Off Road testers said the truck was smooth riding and was second only to the Limited model in smoothness. Secondly, you didn’t mention the digital rear view mirror and bed camera that is not offered in most other midsized trucks. And you didn’t elaborate on the 360 degree camera system quality and the trail terrain camera view that only the Off Road, Trail Hunter and Pro models offer. Thirdly, why does every truck reviewer sit behind the drivers seat when assessing the rear leg room. The rear seats are longer and more plush in the new Tacoma than any other midsized truck that I have seen. The right hand front passenger could have his/her seat a little more forward than the driver and the right seat passenger could have more seat room. Lastly, the turbo 4 is the go to for most midsized trucks. Yes the other manufacturers make more powerful turbo fours but at what initial cost and what does that do to engine reliability. Toyota could have put much more power in theirs but they are a company renowned for reliability. The other manufactures not so much. Ford has had the most recalls than any other manufacturer the past three years. Chevy is not far behind. Toyota has used the same basic 4 cylinder in many other models without any problems. I have a 2022 Highlander with the non turbo 4 coupled with a hybrid engine and have had zero problems. Toyota engineered the turbo 4 in the Tacoma to be much better cooled and stronger built due to the fact it is in a truck that tows and hauls a bigger payload. All of the other channels that reviewed the new Tacoma said the powertrains and suspensions are way much better in the new 4th gen Tacoma than the 3rd gen which outsold every other midsized truck by far.
They were inflated to 40-41 PSI warm. These press vehicles are maintained in a fleet so they are never sitting at a dealership unless brought in for service or repair. I have a side by side comparison coming with the Chevy Colorado and the rear seats are more comfortable for multiple reasons. Leg room is objectively smaller in the Tacoma vs the other midsize trucks.
Yes, the overall impression of the new 4th gen Tacoma is something I’d buy (or lease😳) to just have it for a year or two then sell/trade it for something else and repeat the American way process all over again. Definitely the cheap, low quality Tacoma will not last long term; even if you baby it and keep it in a garage the majority of the time you own it……..in my HUMBLE OPINION.😳🤷♂️
