Nathan, I CANNOT THANK YOU ENOUGH and MUST SAY that RU-vid really needs more people like you !! Your videos inspired me into buying my long time dream car (2008 M5) about 2 years ago and it has been the most reliable BMW I've owned so far at 150.000kms (YES I spent $5k on preventive maintenance doing everything myself when bought it- rod bearings, fluids, smg, injectors, filters etc) It is great to see people like you and a few others on RU-vid who really think logically and explain the ramifications of repairs. Keep up with the good work ! Warm Regards from Sydney - Australia Dan
You really learnt a lot on that first M5. Its paying off this time, so that money you spent on it was also training you for this one. Money well spent. Nice to see you with another Bimmer, tho I follow nevertheless. Keep up the great work! Videos getting better, sleeker too 🙂
Love the content for the e60 M5, i have 1 and im waiting on the brake caliper piston rebuild kit. The driver side wheel just started locking up on me one day?? The lines seem ok but when i press the break i hear a loud clunk it the calliper as the piston retracts. I think the pistons getting stuck..
If you need a vanos pump just order the Dr. Vanos upgraded pump. Less than half the cost and you get some money back with the core deposit. I have it in my m5 and have no complaints!
I've had mine for 8yrs. If you don't have deep pockets or can do the diagnostics and work yourself then don't buy one. Lol if you enjoy working on cars and diagnostic work then ill say this car is well worth it in my opinion. I still love driving it. And the v10 sound, mmmm love it. Also there will never be a car made like this again.
I just bought one as well. It has similar DME codes and symptoms. Vanos codes and misfire on all but one cylinder. I ordered a bolt from bmw which plugs into the vanos line to allow for a pressure gauge and line. I ran the car and it has 80 bar of oil pressure at idle which is about 1000 lbs. It then climbs a bit with acceleration. Could I still possibly have a vanos line leak or do you think the problem is more likely to be in the actuators? Thanks for your time. Great content as usual
Hi nathan, i have an 04 745i and it is burning up rear tires at a record rate. New tires are gone in 6 months of normal driving. Any ideas? Thanks in advance..
You really make me want to get a e60 m5. I don’t understand how some people think it’s fine going 100k + miles without changing the bearings on basically a f1 motor.
It probably is fine if you have owned the car since new and done a 5000 mile oil change interval. The problem is when you are the sixth owner and the first couple owners beat on the car cold and followed BMW’s maintenance schedule.
Go for it, I think that the oil starvation is the reason they go. People beat on them cold and the 10w60 does not flow well cold either. I've been using 5w50 for awhile now with no issues
I bought my 2006 e85 M5 at CarMax with 85k miles. I changed the rod bearings at 135k miles. The bearings were still good. I now have 150k miles on it right now. I love driving this car and its better when it’s really warmed up and at high speeds. Nathan, Im looking forward to seeing this build. I enjoyed the building on your red M5.
Hey I have a question I see that you were working on 839 electric Fan I have 03 530i I replace new fan new coolant sensors on cylinder and the hose and the little box and still don’t want to turn on whit the ac or the car gets in temperature and also check those two fuses under passenger side and I have power on the plug the fan connects I have no more idea can you plz help
The ball joints wear out too, and the control arms from Meyle or Lemforder really aren’t all that expensive. The one you want to press in and out is the bushings in the big rear swing arm.
I purchased the 20 piece kit for my 540i. Had it installed by my local indy. I didn't have the specialized tools I needed to complete the job. It was a bitch even for him with his Bendpak and experience. Spent a few bucks but it was worth it.
@@NathansBMWWorkshop Yeah there are lots or options. My E46 has the dark wood and I love it. My E53 has a light color and its ok but not optimal. But I think the aluminum (to me) is worst. The carbon fiber or piano black would be awesome! But I have the trim on all 3 blacked out so its kinda my pattern of preference. 🤔
