He just did an interview with sway and he asked him why he writes like that. His answer? 2 reasons. Number 1, if anyone else comes across it they won't be able to decipher the puzzle and steal bars. Number 2, when he thinks of something he needs to write it down asap and it doesnt matter where. It's not weird if he can understand it and clearly he can. Cinemasins does this shit all the time. They purposely leave out context, dialogue, scenes etc that clearly show they're making shit up for the sake of forcing a "sin" that doesn't actually exist and y'all are just cool with that kind of bullshit.

It's a fairly realistic movie. But he does have a point that the movie is more interested in placing characters in specific situations than plot development. That certainly could have been done much better... As much as I like 8 Mile, it contains a lot of mindless location switching.

Perfect? Eh.. I don’t know about that. Watching it back all these years later, I find the acting ( entire cast ) to be really cheesy and overdone. The “thugs” with the typical Do-rag and leather jacket get up was corny. PapaDauex not having ANY response for em. Like I know he predicted what he would say, but still. Battle rappers in real life will never not say anything. Very unrealistic The trashy girlfriends. Like what was even the point of Taryn and Brittany’s characters??? All they did was have sex with him.. that’s it. There was no character arc or development. The fake dreads on Mekhi 😂 Totally killed any believability for me. The random freestyle battles throughout the movie were atrocious except that one black chick. I loved how she rapped about how shitty her work environment was. I thought that was dope, but then Xzibit had to ruin by making fun of her. I’d give it a 5/10.

I'd venture to say he pieced together a few rhymes this way. It will happen. You have a few hot lines here and there. Write them down. LATER at some point in time, you look at those pieces and put them together, maybe pull something from older songs you've written or heard. But this is by no means a way that he writes ALL his music.

Someone may have already mentioned this in the comments but Eminem has stated multiple times in interviews and such that he actually DOES write his lyrics on paper like it’s depicted in the movie. It was said that someone found a lyric sheet that he left out and it was written in circles like a maze and when asked about it Em confirmed. So, sin off for accuracy yet it still confirms that Eminem is mad.
