I feel they’re still talking about this a lot for the sake of Rosanna getting a lot of flack online for devious plotting, when she v v v clearly didn’t even know how to go about it in the first place. Idk I’m only here bc Rosanna got far too much hate for feeling bad and attempting to talk about a creator as big as mrbeast. So having Ethan, Hila, and H3 in general helping prop her feelings up is awesome

I can agree with this. She's also a very sweet person and I think she made compelling points for talking about it. People throwing hate at her are just horrible. Do they think Mr Beast will lose the billions he's made over the last 2 years?

@@patrickblakethesaintI’ve never seen her content, but i was watching her talk and seeing how she went about it and I’m like guys this is someone who just wants everyone to have a good time, but now that she’s participating in more content like this. It’s even more it’s so important she speaks up for herself, plus it’s just so hard to express how sexism is experienced

We always put all this pressure on youtubers, but from what I can tell she was doing just fine, was a part of something that really boosted her self esteem, and then had it pulled away in a really shitty way... her saying how she feels she was treated is no reason to attack her. Im glad the h3 family is mostly behind her!

You're probably gonna hate me for saying this, but I'm just trying to be fair: she's had extensive experience working in actual Hollywood, including in reality shows. I don't understand why she's acting all "anguished" when she's been in the industry since the days Mr. Beast was little kid. I'm not defending Mr. Beast because I'm sick of seeing the MrBeastification of RU-vid. I'm glad someone finally said it out loud and I'm grateful for her for saying it. But because she overdramatized her claim, what could've been the beginning of a conversation about bringing authenticity back to RU-vid became "oh this crazy woman is so dramatic", it's a missed opportunity.

Just as a general rule, the truth, and what people *believe* to be the truth, and any discrepancy between those two things, ALWAYS matters. People's beliefs inform their behavior, and beliefs based in practical verifiable reality are better than beliefs based in fantasy and wishful thinking. The less lie-filled a brain is, the better, I would think. If you can be lied to, you can be brainwashed. Don't be susceptible to someone else's agenda or biases to charming personalities you've invested a lot into, just follow the merits. Long story short, lies are bad, and lead to bad beliefs, which lead to bad behavior, and even if small, it all adds up, everything makes a difference.

The internet ripped into the Ace family when we found out the winner of their basketball challenge, whom they presented as a "random audience member," was actually Austin's friend, therefore the prize money was brought into question I feel like it's only fair that anyone else be held to the same standards if they do the same thing, regardless of the internet's perception of them Like there is a VERY big difference between the social opinion of Austin McBroom and MrBeast, but they both acted disingenuously for 'altruistic' competitions.

i think what dan is saying about mr beast is true but i think that is precisely why this is kinda a big deal. i think the public perception of mr beast is that he is authentic. if it turns out that he isn’t, that is ok, he can continue to make entertaining reality tv on youtube but people should be aware otherwise it’s misleading. basically tldr; we should highlight misleading mr beast but he is totally allowed to be misleading and make 1 morbillion dollar forever

The difference between reality shows and what happened to the creator games is that in a reality show you agree to follow a scenario. They generally give you a role, enhance your "background" if needed so instead of "I just love baking" it becomes the much more heartwarming "my grandma, who loved me very much, taught me all I know about baking, so I participate here to honour her and show how good her recipes are" or something along those lines and nobody cares if your granny passed away before you were born or if she never baked a day in her life, you just have to mention her every other interview... it just sounds better on camera. If any physical games are fixed, everyone is in agreement and if they tell you you need to act as an ass to get eliminated, you do it if it is in your contact that you follow all instructions. This is according to 2 friends who participated in reality TV, although the girl (with the baking ghost grandma, that's her story) got a lawyer to negotiate the contract so that she won't be forced to act in any way that would damage her image. And I'm not saying that all arrogant and unlikable characters on reality TV are scripted, some are like that irl, and the editor selects the most outrageous parts so we all get to see a villain. Anyway, in those shows everyone is aware of what's happening and has agreed to do what the director says. With Br Beast games, if true, it's a post-production manipulation without the knowledge and consent of the participants, which is wrong.

They're saying the producers will tell you you're the villain, be more devious or say this, or the nice girl will be overly nice etc. It's all dramatized and you know that when you go on the show. Everyone has their fixed personality and story and they're told that ahead of time. Of course, in the end they can edit you however they'd like.

To me Mr. Beast vs. Reality TV holds different expectations. RU-vid is more of growing trust with your audience for an extended period of time and reality TV relationships are not really grown. He just needs to do better.

Dan is kind of right though. Everyone thought “The Hills” was real and then the series finale happened. A “Love & Hip Hop” star was brought to court to which they pleaded on record the show does fake scenarios. Also a lot of game shows and competition shows while they don’t “fudge” who wins or progresses, some participants do at times have contracts that require an amount of episodes they must appear in order for them to join the show. With that being said though , if Mr Beast claims everything is 100% real then yeah this is all pretty weird and misleading. The Willy Wonka analogy is pretty spot on for how the public perceives him.

Don’t tell your supporters they have a chance to participate when they don’t so they’ll watch your content. Also, RU-vid vs reality tv is not a 1:1 comparison. The expectations and implications of either are different, especially when Mr beast is claiming he doesn’t fake anything.

The people that do the challenges are not totally 'random'. They hold castings to make sure that the contestents are good on camera. (I dont know how you get into those castings but thats another thing). I wouldnt put it past jimmy to put quality the content first, not really caring about who will actually win a prize. His employees are probably very suitable to make good videos because they know whats important. So it would be logical for him to use them for videos.

I have been saying this shit since Mr. Beast first became a gigantic creator and suspiciously started doing all of these "charitable" and "eco-friendly" things that have made 0 actual difference in this fucked up world. Way too many people buy into his act, even people with generally pretty good senses for sniffing out shitty creators. But I just don't see why. I have said for nearly 10 years, Jimmy is not to be trusted, nor is he a good person by any stretch of the term.

I think if he essentially scams participants and viewers, that is an important thing. you can definitely not legally claim the candidate is a random subscriber if they aren't. because it implies that being a sub gives you a chance to be selected. in fact, Beast says that REPEATEDLY in his videos.

Just to point out - Josh started working for Mr. Beast back in 2021. He originally was working with Leon Lush as his editor and then left to go work for Mr.Beast. Leon and Josh even stated so in at least one video, maybe even more because I remember them joking about him leaving him for a bigger RU-vidr. There is a video on Leon's second channel -LushLife posted in June of 2021 titled "goodbye josh".

Josh was the editor for Leon Lush for a few years before he started at Mr. Beast, and then they actually did an announcement on the Leon Lush channel that Josh was going to work for mr beast. The video josh was in was released on the mr beast channel months after that, so even if it wasnt on linked in Josh had publicly announced that he was editing for Mr. Beast. I thought it was clear that Mr. Beast did challenges with friends and staff occasionally, but he absolutely presents many of them as random fans, or members of the public, so he needs to make the distinction clear

Is it possible that including employees in the gameshow aspect is a way to give them bonuses that are not taxed in the same way? Like if you win money in a gameshow you're not taxed on it the same way you would be if it was income or an official work bonus. And the same for the company, prize money would come out as an expense in a different (and possibly better) category than if you were paying a bonus. I'm not super familiar with the IRA and GAAP disclosures, but in Australia there's a distinct difference between the financial oversight of the two types of payment.

In the US there are usually taxes on prize money on the recipient side, but I suspect the organisation could do 'creative accounting' to make the prize money be a 'normal and ordinary' part of operating expenses (ie tax deductible).

Its literally never happened before. Like, ever. Like they said above, the second biggest is pewdiepie who took 11 years to peak, and peaked at 1/15th of what Mr Beast did n his first 2 years. How on earth are you going to dead, bold and cold set here and cack on about "straight white males do it" when he is the -only- reference for it. And yea, when POC/Fringe groups prohibit white people, or straight men, aka the majority, from partaking in their culture but base their whole brands around it, they are going to do significantly SIGNIFICANTLY worse numbers wise. I can clearly view myself and many others who have the ability to notice anything other than a surface level of understanding on topics at a higher vibration within mental stimuli and growth, than this person and/or possibly you also with the addition you would think, I would feel any certain way by being described as cringe haha. It doesn’t make me a more valued human than them, but it does make me concerned for even more important topics. Eg the war crimes in Gaza right now. So yes, I wish for them and yourself to dedicate some time to learn layers and validate the existence of different perspectives and angles of subjects you will voice your opinion on even if you don’t agree with it. Don’t erase them or keep them out to align or convince your opinion is “correct.”

in swiss and german tv, any competition with monetary reward has a notary public present. you never see them but they sre there to make sure the competition was fair and the money gets paid out. sometimes, they intervene and stop cheating attempts. i don't know why it's seemingly acceptable to so many, that people cheat in these things. i took part in a swiss quiz show myself. i would be furious if any competitor was given an advantage

I already don't like that reality tv presents itself as real when it's fabricated, so Mr Beast content being similar doesn't change anything for me. I really dislike the idea of further normalizing things attempting to fool people into think they're authentic when they're not. Especially since Mr. Beast is an individual with a massive following and with that comes an additional level of trust old school media doesn't have. It's not that I think this is some big deal, but I also don't know about accepting people presenting fake things as real.

And he makes a point to always say "random subscribers" when it is a subscriber so I don't think it's fair to say he is implying it about everyone. The video with the editor in it was supposed to have a guy that was trying to become an astronaut. The money was going to help pay for astronaut school and thats why the video was space themed. Right before the video was filmed the original guy tested positive for covid, so Mr. Beast put his editor in instead because they needed someone for the shoot. This is what he said when he was on The Yard podcast.
