Evil Dead Rise was one of my most anticipated films this year. I'm fan of the franchise and would even say they are staples to the horror genre due to the innovative and creative filmmaking that goes into them. Evil Dead 2013 was one of my personal favorite horror movies so you could surmise I was excited to see this one. Although I was excited, did it meet my expectations? Well lets take a look to see, Why I'm Torn When It Comes to Evil Dead Rise.

Solid movie not as good as the first and 2nd, but i thought it was better than 2013. Great vid! Keep up the hard work.

Agreed. I was so excited for this movie and I liked it ok. But it didn't quite pack the punch I expected it to... there are better Evil dead movies in the franchise IMO.

Yeah I agree. I thought it was a good movie. I've seen it again since then and largely feel the same way. I thought it had some really good moments, but still think it could've been better. ✊🏾

Good to get some perspective on this one- I have only ever watched Evil Dead 2 / Army of Darkness and I think that's my sweet spot for gore / slapstick comedy. The 2013 ED and this one just looked too weighed towards gore and not really my thing ( plus concepts like cheese grater didn't help either 😅, whether or not the reality was as bad as what the mind dreams up)

I hear you. The older ones were accessible for horror fans and fans of people who enjoyed the heavy violence. The 2013 version is definitely darker and so is this one and forsure more violent. I wouldn't advise if your not a fan of that type of stuff because that's mainly what they are lol. I will say for horror movies, they are shot and acted pretty well, so there are elements to enjoy, but they can be a lot!

first they took the fun out of the franchise with that moronic remake. now they took everything else. all it remains is the title to attract the unlightned not groovy. not groovy AT ALL.

I understand this take. They definitely don't have the same vibe as the first/Ash centered films. With that being said, I still think there are some things to enjoy about the newer films.
