I think the gun metal works better, it helps break up all the black, and the black head could be seen a reference to the teridax build due to bothe having black masks/heads, and black pieces have a shine to them anyway.
I think another plausible pilot for the Shadow Boxxor is Ahkmou. Maybe he's guided by the Makuta to steal one and attack Takua and Jaller during Mask of Light
I love my recolored variants of well, really anything. I love making recolored sets from Bionicle, Star Wars, and Halo (Mega Blocks). You do an outstanding job my dude 👍
Awesome! Love that you're continuing the shadow theme. I made a gold exo-toa a couple years ago with some knock off parts. It was a pricey color swap 😅
Hey, Brickthumb! Just saw this video today by "JettKuso" about 3D printed, custom Bionicle parts! Not sure if you're into 3D printing or have the means to do so, but I'd recommend the video because I think you'd like the idea! Cheers!
At 2:16, the 3M Technic "long pins" have been in use since 1993, when it first appeared in the "Forklift" (8872) from that year. For the first eight years, it was only available in black, until 2001 when it appeared in white as part of a Honda promotional set (1237) which was exclusive to Japan. That same year, it debuted in the old light gray in three of the Rahi (8538, 8539 and 8549), and was in use in regular sets through 2003. Even though its final appearance was in a Bionicle "Parts tub" (6620) released in May of 2006. Between then, this part began appearing in the newer shade of "medium stone gray" debuting in the Technic "Aircraft" (8434) from August 2004. It continued to appear in this color until 2007 before being phases out. Midway through '07, this part debuted in tan and Mata blue, even though the latter of these debuted in a Mindstorms kit from the year before. But only one of them is still in use today...
This really made me wish for "fully accurate" Tohunga Makuta. Like, dark grey and black parts marbled/painted with sickly green rather than rusty red. Like the signature scene.
They are awesome man, great job! I have been building shadows mocs as well inspired by you hahaha So far I have: Matoran, toa, turaga, bohrok, bohrok va, rahkshi and visorak. I could give the toa the dark nuva armor and call it a toa nuva, but in the ideal world I would make a seperate figure
There is one instance of Makuta using a Exo-toa set on autopilot for their own use. Mainly in the book going over the history of the Piraka. (I think book 5 of the series)
I believe the Brotherhood has a history of using Exo Toa as warriors. Instances I can recall include the Invasion of Destral by the Toa Hagah, and the Reign of Teridax, when Exo Toa were a common threat.
Brickthumb do you know the part number for the piece used to connect the arms to the torso on the toa mata? I’m looking for some in white for a custom takamata build
