IMPORTANT:
This video is all about education. It's designed to give aspiring pilots and air traffic controllers a taste of real-world situations through example scenarios and helpful info. But that's not all! Current pilots and controllers can also benefit by listening to real radio communications from around the globe. This helps them stay sharp and think about how they might handle similar situations in the future.
To create these videos, I keep my ear to the ground on major aviation news and events. I check the dates and time zones to see if I can find recordings of the radio conversations. Then, I become a bit of a broken record myself, listening to them repeatedly to create subtitles and identify key moments. Finally, I whip up some animations (or grab them from ADS-B websites) and pull it all together into a neat package.

Man... my favorite plane Lancair 4. I just read a blog about Lancair 4 gear. Gear is hydraulically actuated. when its 'up' its held up by 1000PSI. If you lose hydraulic pressure, no maneuvering will get the mains to fully extend. You can only extend with emergency pump and the emergency pump only pumps the mains. If the mains don't go down, they will be stuck partial extended and fold back up on touchdown. The nose gear uses an air spring that requires you to reduce speed to 120 KIAS and will not retract once its down and locked. This pilot trying to go gear up after a quick troubleshoot was the right call in my opinion. Great job keeping it professional and safe as he could.

He was to cool to be doing all that himself. He was using the talent he had to shed some workload which makes it even cooler. Well done indeed. Sucks to have to crash a perfect running aircraft.

Glad everything turned out so well! That ~the real workload is going to be the landing~ sounded a lot like me when I'm going through it. In my experience, whipping out the sticky situation humor and playing it off light and easy can help in a fake-it-til-you-make-it kind of way to keep you calm, possibly also keeping it from being traumatizing later by just not drowning in the stress of the situation as it's happening. The effectiveness probably varies a lot from person to person, though.

I think that pilot is an airline pilot. If I'm wrong and he's not, he should definitely consider becoming one. ATCs are definitely in the right line of work. Total pros. ⭐
