Exclusive Interview with BABYMETAL Leave it all behind VIDEO REACTION! 

Great stuff. The more interview etc videos you can find the more obvious it becomes just how sweet, humble and appreciative they are. Yes Su talks fast - and she generally has a lot to say. You will struggle to find anything with them out of costume - and out of character. They are BABYMETAL, Su-metal, Moametal, Momometal and before her Yuimetal. When they are not on stage and not in an interview they disappear, so you will have to go back a long way (probably to Sakura Gakuin where BABYMETAL was formed as a sub-unit) to see Suzuka Nakamoto, Moa Kikuchi. Momoko Okozaki or Yui Mizuno as themselves. Yui last performed in October 2017. Just before the Legend S concerts celebrating Su's 20th birthday it was announced that she was not feeling well and would not be performing under her doctor's advice. She missed the 2018 tour and in October 2018 she announced that she was still not fully recovered, could not perform and had decided to leave the band to follow her long held personal dreams ... she has not been seen or heard of since then. Momoko was one of the 3 dancers who supported Su and Moa from 2019. She was the only one of the three still performing with BABYMETAL after about March 2020 and she was revealed as the third member of the "new" BABYMETAL on 1st April 2023. I don't think you have seen one of the BABYMETAL guides yet. CrypticMisery's 'Everything you need to know about Babymetal (updated)' is the most comprehensive one for the moment (it runs for over 40 minutes), but it was made in 2021 and a lot has happened since then. Omajination has made a shorter but more up to date guide which is also very good (but not as in depth of course). I have seen a comment suggesting there is another comprehensive and up to date guide in the offing for release soon.

Still watching, but had to comment. When Su-Metal gets excited she speaks extremely fast and energetically. There are countless interviews of these women to react to; many in English. These ladies are in my top two from from an infectious, charismatic, personality, bar known. When I’m feeling down, this is where I turn to. Love Babymetal. ❤️🦊

Yui left in 2018 on the advice of her doctors. The reason has never been disclosed, which is how it should be. Su amd Moa said that they still stay in touch with Yui and they're still close friends. They've lnow each other since they were 10 yrs old, so of course they're still friends. And, Yes, Su has always talked very fast. Its adorable.

👍Nice interview. You should check out the Fox NY interview they did last summer. Also there is a video of the two Americans who did the interview. Sort of "behind the scene". Very interesting. The ladies only appear in videos as BABYMETAL. They caused quite a stir last year when the appeared in a photo wearing Boston Red Sox gear. 🦊 🖖❤

Very rarely will you see SUMETAL, MOAMETAL or MOMOMETAL out of uniform, mainly because out of uniform they are Suzuka Nakamoto, Moa Kikuchi and Momoko Okozaki. Away from Babymetal stuff , their privacy is taken pretty seriously. Which of course , could never happen here in the west.

They are truly a marvel! I'm 47, got into them late 2022, and last year my wife and I saw them back to back shows in Texas and hoo boy! I knew of course that I hyped them up too much in my mind .. what I didn't expect was the emotional shock I had when they took the stage. It is so different and awe inspiring seeing them live! The dancing, how tight and perfect and precise it is, is mesmerizing.. Su's booming yet soothing voice hits your chest live .. and the stage presence can almost be felt! Wild. We were maybe 6 feet from the stage in Dallas, and the amount of personal interaction they did with everyone was something special. I got a laugh and wave from Moa, what a cool moment! They make me laugh and smile and feel young again, and their hard work and positive messaging is so inspiring!

Haha good one! There’s another good interview from last year’s tour. It was conducted by a Babymetal fan at Fox 5 NY who also interviewed them in 2014 as well! For context on Momo: While she supported as a backup dancer since 2019, Babymetal was officially just Su & Moa after Yui left in 2018, until Momo’s inauguration on Apr 1st 2023. Su was at that Time 15-16 Years old, that's why their teeth were like that, she was still a Teen. Her Body was still growing them she got some job done

SU talks really fast. Sometimes I have to choose ×0.75 to watch their interview videos. But that's why SU-METAL's rap (BxMxC) is so amazing. If you react to "Sakura Gakuin 2010 nendo test [Video Remastered]". You will see SU, Moa, Yui instead of SU-METAL, Moametal, Yuimetal. Thanks for your great reaction.

There's only one video I know of where they're out of costume, and that was back during the Yui days when they did a little documentary about their trip to Singapore. There's also Sakura Gakuin videos (the group they spun off of.) SG had a totally different costume.

They are really quite an enigma. Since SG there are maybe a dozen pictures and one or two video snippets of them out of character/costume. And almost all of those are backstage/tour shots. Japan is different. There are some very popular artists who never show their face even when performing.

Suzuka talking that fast is normal. Their "class teacher" at Sakura Gakuin, by the way, once stated (IIRC) that "It's easier to catch a typhoon in a bottle than stop Suzuka from talking!".

Personally I think she had her teeth done because of appealing to the American market. As Americans seem to be very fixated on teeth compared to many places. I could often tell America comments on early videos because they would often mention the teeth.

Great stuff, thanks! You mentioned a couple of interesting points: Su-metal (and her alter ego Suzuka Nakamoto) can speak very quick and apparently, non stop. It comes with her personality and she's been trained for that. About the costumes and the street wear... when they perform (and even in interviews like this), they are playing a character. It is (and has to be) like this to preserve their privacy. They posted a couple of photos in "plain" clothes last summer and it was an event for the fandom. Recently, a paparazzo took some pics of them in a private environment and it was just shocking for us. We are very aware that this is very... uncommon. But, as I said, it has to be like this given their background.

SU-METAL : First of all, we are so honored to be the representative of Japan. We have been challenging ourselves in the metal world for such a long time. We have been touring around the world. I think we are the group that keeps doing new things, but I feel that we have not been there yet. We are still the challenger, there are so many things that need to be done, with many people supporting us, I want to keep fighting without losing my style. (note: the thai subtitle said “I want to keep fighting even if I have to lose my style” and it makes no sense to me, the auto-translator said “without losing our style” so I go with this one instead)

Moa and especially Momoko seem pretty happy after praise by Su- at 12:54. 😂

Theres actully not a lot of pics of them out of their outfits. They try hard hard to keep up the Babymetal mystique. Cameras and photographers are banned backstage during their shows around their backstage area. They was recently a paparazzi pic in a japanese magazine though of the 3 of them out for dinner with Momos dad.

About the teeth, in Japan those snaggle teeth, etc. are considered cute, but maybe only on kids. Yes, Suzuka/Su-metal talks a LOT. LOL 🙂

Su- has been known to talk fast since Sakura Gakuin days, but listening to her speaking in that interview as a Japanese, I feel that she doesn't talk so fast and she is restrained. Well, she clearly talks faster than Moa does, ha. Moa's way of speaking hasn't changed since her days at Sakura Gakuin, Moa is easygoing person, or calm but she's firm. I think the problem is Momoko, lol. She's probably the fastest talking and noisiest among the three. She is obviously acting like normal there, I guess, lolol.

No, their costumes are their armour. It is difficult to really recognice them out of costume. Their privacy is extremly protected and japanese media knows how to interpret special signs. As Kobametal described I adopted three daughters. It is obvious that they are less strict since they are the New Babymetal (with Momo). They have obviousely improved their rights and Amuse limited its Intervention. But you still don't dare to publish an unchecked article about a band if you are part of a japanese magazine.

Interesting interview, but I hope Su doesn't feel she has to "sacrifice" her own singing style moving forward, it should be thought of as expanding or complementing it. You mentioned that you only recently delved into the Japanese music scene and I just want to let you know about another amazing band, Wagakki Band. They are like no other, entirely unique in what they do just like Babymetal. They combine traditional Japanese instruments with modern rock and have been going for about ten years and played many huge arena shows.
